      Artense Lenell Sam Scholarship
As I apply to the Artense Lenell Sam Scholarship, I am honored to have this opportunity. As I pursue my degree in Art Education at Sam Houston, as an art teacher, I aim to contribute to loving kids in public school districts who need encouragement in a safe classroom environment that I hope to create one day. Growing up, I struggled with Dyslexia, a learning disorder that hinders my reading and writing ability. My parents did not notice this until I was failing my English class in fifth grade, they got me tested, and sure enough, I was diagnosed and had to move to a new school. I know you hear the sob stories of kids being loners and facing challenges, but in a world where everyone needs a friend is important, and as a kid who struggled with anxiety and wasn't comfortable anywhere, I felt like a failure. My art class was the only place I did not feel like a failure. I had a real knack for drawing and painting, and because of that class, I dared to be myself and excel, and I’m currently trying to open an Etsy business for sentimental, realistic art pieces. After graduating from my dyslexia program, I went back to my old school, where I graduated, and my parents tested my other siblings for dyslexia, and we found out that two of my brothers are diagnosed with dyslexia. I also found out that dyslexia is really common- some of my classmates and family members are- the only thing is that one talks about it. I also know that a lot of other kids struggle with ADHD, autism, and other conditions -one of my dyslexic brothers is autistic, and my one classmate has severe ADHD- both my brothers love painting, and my classmate woodworks and creates outdoor labor gadgets. It makes my blood boil when I see people and kids beat themselves up for being different and being alone, and I want to be the teacher who lets kids or teens excel at what they love, and for most of these kids, it's art. The University of Sam Houston has an amazing Art Education program, and after applying and being accepted, I hope to come and get my degree here. I aspire to blend my desire to teach and create a classroom to grow students' talents. With this scholarship, I would be one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming an art education teacher dedicated to making a difference.

Diane Amendt Memorial Scholarship for the Arts
As I apply to the Diane Amendt Memorial Scholarship for the Arts, I am honored to have this opportunity. As I pursue my degree in Art Education at Sam Houston University, I am impressed by the actions of Daine's dedication to encourage each kid and student to pursue their dreams. My parent, teachers, coaches, and bosses instilled in me the strength to keep trying, be patient, and extend grace to myself and others. As an art teacher and entrepreneur, I want to encourage myself and my students to do the same. I aim to contribute to loving kids in public school districts who need encouragement in a safe classroom environment that I hope to create one day.
