My parents and I, due to outside circumstances have had to do things all but in a traditional order. I was almost 5 when my parents got married and truthfully, immigration changed the timeline for that, so my father had a reason to stay here. We've had our hardships with money, and my father has worked two to three jobs before I was born to the present moment. My mother has worked too, but things are still difficult with my two younger brothers getting into middle school and needing more financial support with any and all fees. As the oldest sibling, I've been doing my best to give my brothers hope for their education and the best experiences I can. In order to do that, I want to show them that no matter their skin color, their last name, their interests, or hobbies, that they too can get to college without the worries of how or what they can do to pay for it. I want to be able to build their confidence in order to build my own because they are my world.
Ever since I was young, I've had terrible anxiety and fear for my father. Due to us having previous issues and rushes because of immigration and with what I have seen before and recently, I live with the constant stress that someday he won't come home. My father's been slowly but surely building his own business in order to stay home and build his own income with his own freedom, but by starting that he needs someone to keep track of all his finances and invoices for his quarterly taxes. I've been helping out with them, but I feel I'm not doing enough. That is why I decided to become an accountant. I want to be able to help not only my dad, but other small businesses. No matter the person, everyone deserves the chance to work and do something they love for a living. I want to give people financial independence and education for their futures whilst helping them the best I can in all financial aspects that I am able to. I know that accountants are known for good salaries, but I don't plan on keeping it all. Just enough to live within my means, instead I want to pay off any and all bills my family has and make college savings for both of my brothers. Truly, it won't be a lot of money for them, but I hope it can be enough to give my brothers a more comfortable start and with my continuous work, I hope to be able to provide that for them every year.
