Bio

The things in life that I am most passionate about are my children, and my grandson who lives with me and is the light of my world. He sees me and understands me like no other on this planet. To quote him, he believes that I'm turning him into a twelve year old baby boomer! My newest passion which brings me to my doctoral journey is my quest to give African American LGBTQ youth a voice in this world. Most do not realize that racism, culture, heavy straight male dominance and religion keep these children in physical, emotional, and religious restraints that would be impossible for adults to manage. Now imagine trying to do it when you have no control over anything in your life! I did everything that I knew to do throughout my 29 plus years in the classroom to help them be their authentic selves but I knew that it was not enough. My plan is after my degree in Gender Fluidity to research to comprise a book on the methodology needed to help make these children whole. It is my greatest wish that it may be used as a kind of blueprint or stepping stone for parents and others to build up our babies with love and strength and not damage them so that they can live their best lives like the rest of us. I can't wait to get started!

I am no stranger to falling down. I have fallen far too many times to even count. People worry way to much about falling. Falling is not what's important it's all about the way you get up! Anybody can and will fall but the gem is in how you choose to get up. I have had some of my most profound thoughts and visions on my way down that's why I have always known what style of "get up" was needed to bring me to the top, to the fore front of whatever challenge was present. It has always baffled many irritated others the way I put my spin on using the lemons life gives me to make lemonade plus! I am the queen of tweak! All I can tell those who are watching me as I get up is to take a video because I am creating it as I go, might need to look back at as the gospel song says at, "how I got over!" If you don't allow what others say or do in their effort to throw stumbling blocks in your path or rent space in your mind and heart then you be able to plot your outrageously fabulous "get up"! As my Grandma used to say, "Ain't nothing to it but to do it!" Get up and make it happen then watch God! "Because it doesn't matter how many times or how often you fall, it's about how you get up!"
