Aspiring nurse, rewriting my life story, doing the unimaginable. Just because this life was given to me, doesn't mean I can't write it my way. From growing up surrounded by substance abuse, absent parents and homelessness, being a single parent at an early age, to finding the importance of education, I rewrote my story. Bettering the health of others and educating people on the benefits of health, have always been something I've aspired to do. I want to work with the BIPOC community and those suffering from mental illness, and share my story with people like myself. Seeing the effects of poverty, chronic health conditions, poor mental health and addiction, have provided me with a diverse background to work with all different populations. Not just hearing their story, but truly understanding them and living through similar situations. While my story looks a lot different from others, and I am not your "traditional" student, that makes my journey that much more important. Because I've struggled to get here, I take my education and career that much more serious. I never imagined being here and coming this far, but here I am.
