Compassion, empathy and kindness are a part of my natural disposition and are traits that I admire in others. I have been able to share my enthusiasm and lead friends to volunteer with me in activities rooted in healthcare and in community based organizations. In doing so we all meet new people, grow and share ideas through our activism. I recognize community is better when we are all involved, and the bond that is created when we all work together can only manifest positive results. Volunteering creates an opportunity for self growth and empathy and exposes us to the struggles that impact communities. Our society would be less divided if we could understand and take part in witnessing the obstacles that others face. In my roles as a hospital volunteer at Winchester Hospital and at Newton Wellesley Hospital, I led fundraising drives and helped with volunteer recruitment. As a fundraising partner with Room to Grow, a non profit that supports babies born into poverty, I was able to assist a marginalized population and help with the disparity of access to resources for these families. Volunteerism creates a ripple effect for change. The rewarding feeling of giving back never fails to bring me much joy and I will never stop looking for ways to contribute. I plan to explore a career in Nursing and see myself in pediatrics. I love children and want to advocate and learn more about obstacles in healthcare for minority populations. .
