I want to support early childhood development by creating a safe, engaging space for children to learn, explore, and build confidence. For me, this means going beyond teaching letters, numbers, or shapes. It’s about fostering curiosity, encouraging empathy, and helping each child feel they belong. The early years are a time when even the smallest encouragements can shape a child’s view of themselves and the world. If a child feels valued from the very beginning, they carry that confidence into every stage of life.
My interest in education comes from two important influences. First, I had teachers who made school a place I wanted to be. They listened. They encouraged. They made learning fun. That kind of care stayed with me, and it taught me that education is built on relationships as much as on lesson plans. Second, my own love of learning—especially about different cultures—has always driven me to see education as a way to connect people and open opportunities.
That’s why my long-term goal is to become a TEFL/ESL educator. I want to work with children, whether locally or abroad, to help them see language as a bridge between cultures. For children learning English as a second or foreign language, the classroom can be a place where they discover their voice, their confidence, and their ability to connect with a wider world.
This goal also connects to a personal dream I’ve carried since childhood—living and working in Japan. Japan has shaped so many of my interests, from the films and shows I grew up with to the friendships I’ve built through shared hobbies. My dad and I often talked about visiting there together while watching old monster movies, but he passed away before either of us had the chance to travel abroad. When I go, I want to live enough for both of us—immersing myself in the culture, exploring places like Odaiba, climbing Mount Fuji, walking through the Tori gates at Fushimi Inari Taisha, and experiencing the everyday rhythms of life there.
Teaching abroad would give me the chance to give back to a culture that has brought me comfort and inspiration for so many years. I want to share my language and skills with young learners while also learning from them—about their traditions, their perspectives, and their hopes for the future.
For me, supporting early childhood development through TEFL/ESL is about planting seeds of confidence and curiosity at the stage of life when they grow deepest. My goal is to help children see their own potential and give them the tools to reach it—whether in my hometown or on the other side of the world.
