Bio

I am a native-born Coloradan forged into a hard-working man by trials encountered through testing by both my earthly and heavenly father. I am dedicated, persistent, caring, intuitive, and creative beyond imagination. I am probably also more stubborn than anyone you've ever met. Who said any of those were bad things? I am grateful for the trials I have faced and the obstacles I have overcome because they have given me the hard-working attitude I have now. Goals are achieved through planning and the will to reach them. I am the kind of person who is set on their goals, and just a few are really important to me. First and foremost I aim to glorify the Lord in everything I do; the way I act, communicate, and perform are not of my own doing and therefore it all should attest to Christ's greatness. Second, I aim to be the best husband, father, provider, and friend I possibly can be. Whether that means being there for a person in the hard times, or letting them go through it alone because it's what they need. Lastly, because I have only the highest standards for myself, I aim to work my way to the top in whichever field I decide to go into. If I am an architect, I want to be so successful that when people look up good architects for mountain homes, my name is the first name on Google's recommendations. If I choose to become a doctor or lawyer, I want to be the name recommended by anyone when a vital procedure or an unwinnable case is mentioned. My work is important to me, it always has been. I am a dedicated and passionate person, that's all folks.

Learner Higher Education Scholarship
Despite popular opinion, the truth of the matter is that you can succeed in most careers without a diploma from a university. Although this claim can be disputed easily, it is all based on opportunity, determination, and discipline. I know that I have the capability to succeed in my career. However, I also have a goal to become the best in my future practice. So although I know that college is not necessary to succeed, I also know that it is a chance to learn from the best. So whether I choose to pursue architecture or a medical career, a university education will make it much easier to excel in my field. Bettering myself in any way possible is always a goal I try to achieve. All the universities I have found interest in have programs that excel in comparison to most others. I value a high-level faith-based education. I value the education I have received so far. However, when I moved to Iowa, unfortunately, the level of education was not right for me. When I realized this, I worked my tail off to try and get ahead. When it was noticed by my teachers, they gave me an opportunity to do a year's worth of math in two months. Five hours of math after every school day was hard. Although I was persistent and determined enough about it to complete it, It was no fun. Learning should be fun, I enjoy it. And when a university is ranked highly because of its academic programs, I know I can trust that although I'll have homework, I won't have to fight as hard for just an average education. That aspect of college is attractive to me. I also am pursuing a college degree for reasons aside from education. College is a time in your life when a person meets their closest friends. Brought together by similar interests, majors, and preferred hobbies, colleges create a safe space for individuals to meet great friends. The friends I have made are great, I have friends from all over the world, but living with and around a community full of students going through and experiencing the same things as you builds better friendships. I know from stories I have heard from people I respect that they made their best friends to date when in college. Many of which they are still in contact with. I know many of those friends and they're the kind of people who will drop anything for you. I plan on going to a Christian college where those bonds can be even tighter. This college experience will not only enhance my learning capability but also provide connections socially.

Engineers of the Future Scholarship
Ever since I was a child I have been found tinkering with tools or pulling apart my toys. Although that has now evolved into a passion for architectural engineering, that same spirit of building and understanding is still there. When I was still a small child my father had paid for a new deck to be built on our newly bought home. The whole process was amazing to me, From the support system to the roof and the crane they used to drop a hot tub in, I was enthralled. My little brain was overwhelmed by all the cool machinery and the masterpiece that was the blueprint. That was the moment that sparked the flame that was my desire to build and create. Architecture and design of any sort is a form of art. It is beautiful. Since then, I have actually renovated a good family friend's deck and he was very satisfied with the project. Although I didn't get to redesign, the process of leveling it out, revamping the support system, and even cleaning years of dirt off was fun to me. When many people think of architecture at its best they think of cathedrals and skyscrapers. My opinion however is somewhat distinguished or at least a bit unique. The best part of architecture for me is building dreams for people. When a man, woman, or couple sees their dream home come to life, the joy that comes from that is why I want to pursue this career. I want to move to Colorado and build unique mountain cabins and homes that fulfill people's dreams. I want to eventually build that idea into a business of my own and employ a workforce just as passionate about this form of art as I am. This scholarship would bring me one step closer to achieving my dream.
Glen E Kaplan Memorial Scholarship
Hunger is responsible for over half of children under five worldwide. Malnutrition and starvation prevent beautiful children from living prosperous lives. I am a caretaker by nature and I can't help but feel sorry for these children who don't have the same headstart in life that I have been blessed enough to receive. I have yet to decide what to do with my life, but whether it is surgery or architectural design, I love both occupations and would love to do either. So whether it be performing life-saving operations, or donating money and housing to places struck by poverty, I want to make an impact. How do I know that I have what it takes to make it? I know I can make it because if you ask anyone who truly knows me, they'll tell you how dedicated and intentional I am. When I was young I lived a curious life full of adrenaline and learning. From reading endlessly, exploring the mountains, and working in the garage on vehicles, I always made it my goal to have fun. That mentality never changed even as I moved to a small podunk town in northcentral Iowa. Despite the frigid winters and hot, humid summers, I found joy In friendships and work. The Lord provided me with the opportunities I needed for me to grow into a man. One of those was this persistent mindset. When I first moved to Forest City, I quickly learned that the education system was not as well funded as my previous school. But I didn't let that stop me, by standing out as a hard worker and dedicated student, I was granted the opportunity to jump a grade in some classes. But I had to work for it. For two months of the year not only did I complete my actual schoolwork, but I persevered through four to five hours after school every day so that I could get into the classes I wanted. About a dozen of us were chosen for this opportunity, yet just a few of us prevailed. Although I am just now reaching the level of education I was reaching for, I still appreciated the chance to work my tail off to prove academic excellence. This persistence, whether it be stubbornness or determination, is how I know that my goals in life will be met and I will be able to help children in need.
Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Math is either one of those things you hate or you love. Personally, math is one of my favorite studies. Math is the basis for every single academic and job-related future I have as well. From mechanical engineering to architecture, and even orthopedic surgery, math serves as a basis for education. It is everywhere around us, geometry envelops the physical world, and many buildings model polynomic and trigonometric functions. Modern technology used in every occupation, hobby, and sport is invented or created using mathematics. You can not escape it, it envelops the world. Speaking of worldwide, math is also a universal language, math is the same concept in every country. Every proof, every theorem, and every formula is unchanging across the globe. Concepts in math don't change as geographical coordinates do. Scientists and mathematicians from all over the world could communicate and work collaboratively because math is so universal. It brings people together. From math clubs in middle school and high school, even into college, math is out there enhancing the comprehension power of people. Math is by far the most important subject. And when it's the basis of the world, our education, all technology, and such a useful communication tool, how on earth could you not like it?
