My father and I always enjoy maintaining or enduring new project cars and trucks. We’ve
gone through countless engines, tires, radiators, driveshafts because we loved what we were
able to accomplish in our own garage which has obviously brought a huge influence into my
choice of career and technical school. Another huge reason attending college is my foremost
focus is because I know that with my specific certification, I’ll be able to achieve my dream
career as a Master Porsche Technician. As a Porsche technician, I want to be able to help my neighbors and other people in my community with any problems that may occur with their Porsche or even any car. A Porsche technician is much more than just repairing or maintaining the vehicles the luxury brand offers but it is also an opportunity to make a difference and purposeful contribution to my community.
Inspiring others has always been important and an escape for me. I love when people enjoy the things I do and when they also want to partake in it. As a Porsche technician I promise to go to ‘future technician’ events and represent my fellow technicians. My own journey can and will serve as an inspiration for the younger generation in my community to earn or develop a higher passion for cars or are not certain on their own career paths. Mentoring aspiring technicians is a strong way to share my own experiences and skills to help them earn more technical skills. I hope to encourage others to pursue their own dreams and goals just as I did, whether that is in the automotive industry or in other fields. One of the most satisfying parts of being a Porsche technician is the build up of strong relationships within the Porsche and local communities. I will hold myself to provide consistent and high-quality services for my clients and peers. Earning my community’s trust as a perplexing technician is very important to me as it comes with responsibility, respect, trust, and loyalty even outside of the automotive realm.
When someone thinks of innovation, Porsche is particularly brought up; especially with their new hybrid and electric vehicles. As a Porsche technician I’d like to ensure the growth of the emission focused and electric vehicles. I want to enable more people to enjoy their electric cars whether that is through modifications or even just social outreach with other electric vehicle enthusiasts. As the world slowly transitions into sustainability, myself will play a critical role in maintaining Porsche as a top-competitor surrounding me. I will help reduce carbon emissions through ensuring these vehicles stay in a sustainable condition and operate correctly. On top of contributing to sustainable and environmentally safer cars I will also always encourage others in my community to consider converting to environmentally friendly transportation options.
Adding to all of that, I want to make an impact in my local community but also in the Porsche community. I want my works to be compared to the likes of Akira Nakai or Norbert Singer. Without my friends and family, I wouldn’t be as dedicated to my career as I am today, and through that; I want to give back to the different communities who enjoy Porsche or have any questions, complications, or just need a skilled and experienced technician for any vehicle make. Thank you so much for your consideration for my application and I really hope to hear back from you coming this April!
Chip Miller Memorial Scholarship
Hello, I am Ethan Segovia, I am 17 years old and I am currently in my last semester in high school. On August 4th, 2025 I will start a new course ‘Automotive Technician Training’ at Universal Technical institute and following my completion there. I will be introduced to the PTAP or Porsche Technology Apprenticeship Program.
My father and I always enjoy maintaining or enduring new project cars and trucks. We’ve gone through countless engines, tires, radiators, driveshafts because we loved what we were able to accomplish in our own garage which has obviously brought an influence into my choice of career and technical school.
Working for Porsche as a Technician is not only a lifelong passion but I’m also committing myself to a field that is always pushing the boundaries of technological innovation, performance, and efficiency.
The possibility of working for a brand that cares very deeply about cutting-edge technology as well as sustainability, as that clearly and highly aligns with my vision of making cars both spirited with high performance and a comfortable atmosphere for its drivers.
I’d like to eventually make an impact, not only in my local community but also in the Porsche community. My goal is for my works to be so spectacular that people compare me to as if I were Akira Nakai or Norbert Singer.
After the completion of trade school and the following program along with it, I intend to earn a job for Porsche either as a technician or developer/designer for future projects. Beyond my technical skills, my focal plan is to bring an uphold and brilliance to Porsche’s luxury and performance models and in addition to the new electric/hybrid vehicles.
Through my very diverse education at Universal Technical Institute and PTAP, I will gain each skill needed to service these vehicles and projects. Whether that's routine maintenance, diagnosing complex issues, or working for and on Porsche’s cutting-edge performance/racing vehicles, each task will be approached with precision, care, and sharp focus.
I’d love to ensure that these astonishing machines deliver the speed, power, handling, and pure, trusted performance that many Porsche enthusiasts have learned to expect and appreciate.
Without men like my future self, many people would be helpless without their vehicles as no one would be there to maintain and support them and as a future Porsche Technician; I plan to achieve an incredibly high standard as far as my customers and colleagues.
Inspiring others has always been important and an escape for me. I love it when people enjoy the things I do and when they also want to partake in it.
My journey can and will serve as an inspiration for the younger generation in my community to earn or develop a higher passion for cars or are not certain about their own career paths. Mentoring aspiring technicians is a strong and ethical way to share my own experiences and skills to help them earn more technical skills.I hope to encourage others to pursue their own dreams and goals just as I did, whether that is in the automotive industry or other fields.
One of the most satisfying parts of being a Porsche technician is the building of strong relationships within the Porsche and local communities. I will hold myself accountable for providing consistent and high-quality services for my clients and peers. Earning my community’s trust as a perplexing technician is very important to me as it comes with responsibility, respect, trust, and loyalty even outside of the automotive realm.
Thank you for reviewing my application as together we could make a huge difference in the luxury/sport car industry!

My name is Ethan Segovia and I am currently attending Joshua High School which is located in the heart of Texas. After I graduate with my High School Diploma I will attend Universal Technical Institute. There I will be earning my certification as an Automotive Technician as well as gain my Specialized Technology Associate degree. After my completion, I shall join Porsche in the Porsche Technology Apprenticeship Program, or PTAP for short. I follow this route as I want to work for Porsche at one of their dealerships and then soon after work directly for Porsche in Stuttgart, Germany. Since a very young age, I have been very intrigued with cars, trucks, motorcycles, and everything in between! My father and I have always been consistent in the shop since around the age of 10. I have always helped him with any of the projects he endured for those many years and now I am even able to expand my knowledge to my family, friends, peers, and my community!

First-Gen Futures Scholarship
Growing up was never lonely, speaking of the fact that it came with 6 siblings and 2 loving parents. That’s why moving away from home to begin college and moving to Atlanta for 6 months will be very difficult as I adjust into living independently. However, I am not going to let any of the difficulties like finance, motivation, mental health, or even my transportation stop me from completing the 1 ½ course at Universal Technical Institute and also completing the Porsche Technology Apprenticeship Program and earning a hard-earned career as a Porsche Technician. Moving into college means that I am the first to attend in my immediate family and I am doing it completely solo. Which, in the long run, will prove that I always showed strong determination and resilience and will even reflect on my career in the future.
Not yet have I or One of my siblings started or completed any college or trade school. One of my brothers only two days ago was released from a 3 year prison sentence. Another one of my brothers was recently kicked out of his apartment and was forced to live with my 27 year old sister and her 2 kids. On my sister's side, they planned to attend college and earn degrees but 3 out of the 4 opted out and became awesome mothers instead. I’ve mentioned this because Going to college is important to my goals because I’d like to make a difference in my family. My siblings have had to face many tough situations that have led to them not attending college but I’ve already been planning my entry into Universal Technical Institute. A huge piece of my passion for secondary learning comes from seeing my siblings switch their lives around and be put into financial situations, relationship problems, job losses, criminalistic behaviors and even housing situations.
My father and I always enjoy maintaining or enduring new project cars and trucks. We’ve gone through countless engines, tires, radiators, driveshafts because we loved what we were able to accomplish in our own garage which has obviously brought a huge influence into my choice of career and technical school. Another huge reason attending college is my foremost focus is because I know that with my specific certification, I’ll be able to achieve my dream career as a Master Porsche Technician. After attending UTI, I’ll fly to Atlanta, Georgia to work for Porsche as an apprentice for 6 months. To help pay for my living expenses, Porsche will source a part-time job and subsidized housing for the entire duration. After earning an Automotive Technician certification and completing PTAP I shall return to Texas and look into technician opportunities at Autobahn Porsche Fort Worth, Porsche Grapevine, and Park Place Porsche Dallas, which I should automatically be accepted into the workplace at any one of these locations due to my experience!
Additionally, college is another gate to many opportunities in the automotive industry and gives me the chance and capabilities to achieve an amazing paying, and ranking career that I love to share my life with everyday. I have big plans after high school and those plans will not change because college is my only focus as I wind down in high school. I want my entire family and even my community to be proud of my decisions and I want to make a difference in both my family and community through automation and my high standards. Thank you Thrive for the opportunity to put forth this essay and I am very eager for what the future holds between us!

Russell Koci Skilled Trade Scholarship
I am Ethan Segovia, a senior at Joshua High school (located in central TX) and after I graduate high school, I will attend Universal Technical Institute the following August (2025). Growing up, my father and I always enjoyed maintaining or enduring new project cars and bikes. We went through countless engines, tires, radiators, driveshafts because we loved what we were able to accomplish in our own garage. As I grew older, I've become more independent and I now work in the shop with my father and myself. Since a young age, becoming a master mechanic at Porsche has always been a dream and still continues to thrive as a huge piece of my goals and passion.
Attending trade school is not for everyone. However, for the past 2 years, I see it as a perfect opportunity to achieve my dream career while saving me extra time and money as I only go for one course, and is a cheaper option than a traditional college. The training endured at a trade school is mainly hands-on, making whatever I learn readily available to apply immediately. After earning my Automotive Technician certification at Universal Technical Institute, I’d join the Porsche Technician Apprenticeship Program or PTAP for short. While in this program, I will be learning how to be a Porsche Technician for 6 months. After the completion of trade school and the following program along with it, I intend to earn a job for Porsche either as a technician or developer/designer for future projects.
Working for Porsche as a Technician is not only a life long passion but I’m also committing myself to a field that is always pushing the boundaries of technological innovation, performance, and efficiency. The possibility to work for a brand that cares very deeply about cutting-edge technology as well as sustainability, as this clearly and highly aligns with my vision of making cars both spirited with high performance and friendlier to the ecosystem. Through my very diverse education at Universal Technical Institute and PTAP, I will gain each skill needed to service these vehicles and projects. Whether that will be routine maintenance, diagnosing complex issues, or working for and on Porsche’s cutting-edge performance/racing vehicles, each task will be approached with precision, care, and sharp focus. I’d love to ensure that these astonishing machines deliver the speed, power, handling, and pure, trusted performance that many Porsche enthusiasts have learned to expect and appreciate.
As you may notice, I have put hours of thought into my collegiate future and career. I feel that I am going to achieve my goal as a Master Technician because I have always and continue to show a higher level of responsibility, resilience, and dedication to my path than other people around my age. I will put forth my best skills and effort to show the same dedication to my improvement to my teachers and classmates and following into the workplace as I plan to be one of Porsche’s most proficient technicians. Through my diligence to complete tasks, I will impress my boss, co-workers, and customers alike. I will prove to them that I’m the correct person to become a leader in the automotive industry. My version of a successful life would be to be a Porsche Master Technician or Racing Engineer with a stable home and family. All I strive for and will continue to do after I complete school is to gain as much knowledge and as I progress through life, so will my knowledge and I see that as successful. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to our future together!

Growing up, my father and I always enjoyed maintaining or enduring new project cars and bikes. We went through countless engines, tires, radiators, driveshafts because we loved what we were able to accomplish in our own garage. As I grew older, I have become more independent and I now work in the shop with my father and alone. Since a young age, becoming a master mechanic at Porsche has always been a dream and still continues to thrive as a huge piece of my goals and passion. I have had multiple educational goals throughout my high school career. After my college advisor visited my school, I decided that I needed to set goals for myself. My main goal since 9th grade has always been to gain as much experience in the classroom before I have to exit into the real world so that I'd be able to use my skills in real-life situations. I’ve been driven by a commitment to excellence and self-reliance. These merits have shaped my journey, leading to several personal achievements that make me proud.
After the completion of trade school and the following program along with it, I intend to earn a job for Porsche either as a technician or developer/designer for future projects. My name is Ethan Segovia and I am 17 years old. I am currently attending Joshua High School which is located in Texas. After my completion of high school in spring of 2025, I will appear at Universal Technical Institute in Irving, Texas to begin technical school. The training endured at a trade school is mainly hands-on, making whatever I learn readily available to apply immediately. I thrive in environments where I can control my work and pace while also learning the participatory side of the course, which trade schools offer. Elementary school and middle school were definitely an undemanding time for me when it came to studying, and completing my school work efficiently and correctly was very achievable. When I moved school districts just before 9th grade, I didn’t realize that I was going to throw myself into an educational cavity. Through 9th and 10th grade, I unfortunately just didn’t care about my education and only wanted to hang out in the workshop/garage or sit on TikTok. Though, at the beginning of my 11th grade year I decided that I must make a change in my life if I’d like to actually live a desirable life in the future. That's where Greg Williams has given me an amazing opportunity to align my values with his and earn a scholarship to better myself and my community around me. Earning this scholarship would allow me to buy the mandatory laptop needed for college, it could help me pay for my dorm, or most importantly go towards my tuition. This scholarship will enable me to take advantage of my classes because I will be able to focus more on my studies instead of financing my entire education. I would actually have access to better resources because this scholarship can and will help cover the cost of textbooks, laboratory fees, or software. My extracurricular involvement could dramatically increase due to the burden of extra money I’d need to raise decreasing. I’d feel more free to join in class and activities because I’d have more time throughout the day. If I were lucky enough to earn this scholarship, I would have 100x more motivation than I already am conceiving. Giving me the opportunity to prove to that the donor’s chose to put their faith in the right person and would not only make me feel more obligated and worthy to succeed in my academic goals and career, but it would also allow me to prove to myself, and family that I was and am able to achieve my dreams through all of the stress and doubt. Thank you for taking the time to read my application and I am very ecstatic for the future!
Track to the Trades
Growing up means I must also decide what I would like my career to be. In 11th grade, an admission advisor for Universal Technical Institute visited my agriculture class in high school. As I have been learning and understanding the basics and technical side of going to Universal Technical Institute, I have come to learn that trade schools offer unique experiences that focus on your practical and hands-on skills. Working in a field where I can see clear results of my hard efforts is available for me at Universal Technical Institute. Unlike a traditional college, trade schools prioritize real-world problems, which aligns perfectly with my career goals in the automotive industry. As my career goal is to be a Porsche Technician, I have decided that going to a trade school will most effectively push the boundaries of my goal and dream.
One of my focal goals is obviously completing high school and college and that will remain until I have finally completed school. At the beginning of my 11th grade year, I enrolled myself at Universal Technical Institute. I couldn’t be happier with this decision as, I have been opened toward so many different opportunities including jobs, grants, scholarships, and even apprenticeships. My long-term goal is to end up as a lead mechanic at a Porsche dealership or even open my own Porsche-specific mechanic shop and I have stayed incredibly dedicated to my passion. One goal that I recently set for myself over the summer is focusing on time management and my schooling habits. I'd like to enhance my study habits so that my brain is trained to take in information for longer periods of time. Creating a study schedule has increased my brain power and knowledge dramatically because I am able to have specific times throughout my day dedicated to learning. I’ve learned that studying at my desk in my room has been most effective for me and since then I’ve started my own sessions. At the end of every session I complete, I always reflect on the session and ask myself what I could do differently next time to achieve the maximum effect that the study could hold.
Without the men like my future self, many people would be helpless without their vehicles as no one would be there to maintain and support them and as a future Porsche Technician or Racing Engineer; I plan to achieve an incredibly high standard as far as my customers and colleagues.
Working for Porsche as a Technician is not only a life long passion but I am also committing myself to a field that is always pushing the boundaries of technological innovation, performance, and efficiency. The possibility to work for a brand that cares very deeply about cutting-edge technology as well as sustainability, as this clearly and highly aligns with my vision of making cars both spirited with high performance and friendlier to the ecosystem. Gaining this scholarship is a very pivotal moment in my educational career but is also the beginning of what is to come. Reducing the financial stress, it allows me to fully engulf myself in my studies, or grasp valuable opportunities and in the end, help me achieve my goal of becoming a leader in the automotive industry, or starting my own business after I have gained the knowledge and experience necessary. I am profoundly committed to using this opportunity to not only succeed as a Porsche Tech, but also to give back to those who helped me achieve my goals, and most importantly my community. Thank you for the consideration for the Track to the Trades scholarship and I hope to hear back soon!
Aurora Rocha Memorial Scholarship
My name is Ethan Segovia and I am 17 years old. I am currently attending Joshua High School which is located in Texas. After my completion of high school in spring of 2025, I will appear at Universal Technical Institute in Irving, Texas to begin technical school. Since a young age, vehicle mechanics and maintenance has been a great passion of mine and I have stayed fully committed throughout my childhood and teenage years. School and earning a reputable education is very important to me as well, though it hasn’t always been one of my focal points for the duration of my school career.
Elementary school and middle school were definitely undemanding for me when it came to studying, and completing my school work efficiently and correctly. For the past 2 years, I have been fully focused and dedicated to my education and future education at UTI then later moving to Atlanta to complete their 6 month PTAProgam.
By the way of dedication and hard work I will continue to aim to set a newer, higher standard for the quality of Porsche and cars in general. I feel that if I continue to push for a better future for the industry, I will soon be able to reach a new generation of Porsche/automotive enthusiasts to pursue new technological innovation and their own responsible practices. Thank you for your consideration for the Aurora Rocha Memorial Scholarship and I am very eager for the future!

Andre' Burchelle Roach Scholarship
Upon my completion at Joshua High School, I will be attending Universal Technical Institute the following August. The cost of attending this school is extremely out of my range to pay for. Earning this scholarship would not only help me financially, but it would also immensely motivate, and engage me even more in completing school. After earning my certification at Universal Technical Institute, I’d join the Porsche Technician Apprenticeship Program or PTAP for short. While in this program, I will be learning how to be a Porsche Technician for 6 months. When I complete the program, I will easily get a job at the Porsche dealership in Irving, Texas. Thus earning my desired career as a Porsche Technician. I have mentioned all of this because this scholarship is another way for me to feel more financially confident when attacking trade school and the program. As of right now, I, or anybody else I know is not able to pay for the entirety of my tuition. Besides any scholarships, student aid, or grants that I may earn, I will be completely paid for my tuition and other needs by myself. Obviously this is going to be a huge burden on me for a long period of time. That’s when earning the Andre' Burchelle Roach scholarship comes into play; This scholarship has the ability to pay for a portion of my tuition because they believe in my academic capabilities and motivation. Winning the scholarship means that I am able to focus even just a little bit of more time on my studies, work, internships, research, and even volunteer work.
The financial side of college is no doubt one of the most fearful and stressful pieces of college. Alleviating my financial burden is one of my main focuses as I proceed into technical school. The Andre’ Burchelle Roach scholarship has given me an amazing opportunity to align my values with theirs and earn a scholarship to better myself and my community around me. Earning this scholarship would allow me to buy the mandatory laptop needed for college, it could help me pay for my dorm, or most importantly go towards my tuition. Battling financial stress and studying in my field is not going to be easy, especially without the support from the Roach-Serry family. If I were lucky enough to earn this scholarship, I would have an advantageous amount of motivation than I already am conceiving. Giving me the opportunity to prove to the Roach-Serry Family that they chose to put their faith in the right person and would not only make me feel more obligated and worthy to succeed in my academic goals and career, but it would also allow me to prove to myself, and family that I was able to achieve my dreams through all of the stress and doubt. Thank you for reading my essay and considering my application, I deeply look forward to hearing back from the Roach-Serry Family.

Growing up means I must also decide what I would like my career to be. In 11th grade, an admission advisor for Universal Technical Institute visited my agriculture class in high school. That’s when I made the key decision to enroll at UTI. As I have been learning and understanding the basics and empirical side of going to Universal Technical Institute, I have come to learn that trade schools offer unique experiences that focus on your practical and hands-on skills.
The training endured at a trade school is mainly hands-on, making whatever I learn readily available to apply immediately. I thrive in environments where I can control my work and pace while also learning the participatory side of the course, which trade schools offer. One massive factor that helps the effectiveness of trade schools is that they allow me to go to school for a shorter time frame which gives me dominance in careers that enjoy the presence of an educated, young UTI graduate. It will grant me the promise to enter the workforce more quickly and gain an advantageous amount of valuable experience from professionals. The networking and job opportunities that fall alongside UTI are significant as well. UTI has over 55+ relationships with car manufacturers and automotive brands. Through UTI I can complete my Automotive Technician Training and then attend the Porsche Technician Apprenticeship Program. There are many events to help me decide my career path as I just went to an event at the Sewell BMW dealership which is a major partner of my trade school.
In 9th grade, I wanted to attend a 4-year college to earn my associate's degree, but in my agriculture class in 11th grade, a UTI Advisor visited my class and I was able to learn the different benefits of going to a trade school instead of a traditional college. The financial burden has always been important for me when deciding my academic future. The average yearly cost of a traditional college round is around $27,146. On the other hand, I am paying a rough total of $44,000 to attend UTI and earn my Automotive Technician certificate, as well as an Associate of Occupational Studies. As I mentioned, I have heavily focused on starting my career as early as possible. I have learned that attending a trade school for a year to learn a trade and then starting an actual job post-school making around $55,000 my first year in the workforce is a better decision for me because I am determined to put in the rigid work and long days that it will take to earn my Automotive Tech Certification.
Attending trade school is not for everyone. However, as I have for the past 2 years, I see it as a perfect opportunity to achieve my dream career while saving me extra time and money as I only go for one course, and is a cheaper option than a traditional college. Overall, I feel that this scholarship is perfect for me because I am motivated and excited to attend a trade school next August. Thank you for your time and consideration & I look forward to hearing back soon!
