I'm a senior in high school and I’m involved in many extracurriculars, including the Transitions Society and the Mindfulness Club. As Head of the Transitions Society, I focus on creating a welcoming space where students from all backgrounds can feel comfortable and supported.
Mental health has always been something I care deeply about. That’s why I co-founded JUMP Stress, a peer-support initiative helping teens in Uganda cope with stress in healthy, open ways. I’ve also written for WBUR’s Boston NPR, where I shared some personal reflections on caregiving.
Outside of school and research, I spend time making art and practicing mindfulness that help me stay balanced and recharge.
My career objective is to be a psychiatrist and serve others in a culturally relevant mental health care. I see myself create free programing that is culturally relevant but at the same time affordable. In order to achieve my goal of becoming a psychiatrist, I plan to major in psychology and volunteer at a mental health clinics and apply to medical school. Without a scholarship for college, I will have a lot more significant financial strain. This strain would limit me to fully engage in the hands-on research and fieldwork opportunities I need for my career. I also hope to continue expanding JumpStress by collaborating with mental health professionals and advocating for affordable mental health care.
