Bio

Inspired by my grandfather's battle with cancer and witnessing his struggles with medication side effects and interactions, I am passionate about making an impact in the field of pharmacology. My goal is to contribute to the development of safer, more effective medications that enhance the quality of life for numerous individuals. My love for science and its potential to solve real-world problems drives me to understand how different substances interact with the human body to treat diseases more effectively. My academic record, leadership experiences, and commitment to community service demonstrate my dedication and resilience, making me a strong candidate. Despite facing challenges of dyslexia and ADHD, I have maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA through hard work, illustrating my ability to overcome obstacles and excel academically. Serving on the Flower Mound High School PTSA Board and running for an elected office at Texas Boys State have shaped me into a well-rounded individual, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, effective communication, and public speaking. My commitment to community service through volunteering at the Flower Mound Senior Center and Camp Invention highlights my dedication to helping others and emphasizes my understanding of the importance of service in making a positive impact. As a result of my volunteerism, I was honored with the FMHS 2024 Humanitarian Award, given to one boy and one girl. I am committed to using my education and skills to contribute meaningfully to the field of pharmacology and to advocate for better health outcomes for all.

As I plan for college and beyond, I am inspired by my personal experiences and aspirations. I envision a future that merges my passion for helping others with my love of science. Growing up, I noticed the numerous medications my grandfather had to take daily to manage his health, especially after he was diagnosed with three types of cancer in 2021. Witnessing his struggles with medication side effects and interactions sparked a curiosity in me about pharmacology, leading me to choose this field for my college studies. My grandfather's journey with cancer has been a testament to the power and limitations of modern medicine. He takes a multitude of medications, each carefully prescribed to manage his various conditions. However, the challenge lies in ensuring that these medications work in harmony without adverse interactions that could compromise his health further. I remember the countless doctor visits where he would discuss his symptoms and medications, trying to find the right balance to manage his conditions effectively. I realized then the profound impact pharmacology has on people's lives and became determined to learn more about how medications work and how they can be improved for better patient outcomes. One of the biggest challenges I have faced in my life is dealing with dyslexia and ADHD. These learning disabilities made it difficult for me to keep up with my peers, especially when it came to reading and writing. However, instead of letting these challenges hold me back, I took proactive steps to overcome them. I sought help from my teachers and parents, who gave me the support and resources I needed to succeed. I also developed strategies for managing my disabilities, such as using mnemonics and breaking down tasks into smaller, more manageable steps. Through perseverance and hard work, I have maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA throughout high school, demonstrating my determination to succeed despite the obstacles. Service has always been a fundamental part of my life, teaching me the value of patience, compassion, and empathy through volunteering at the Flower Mound Senior Center and Camp Invention. Volunteering at the senior center allowed me to interact with and learn from the senior citizens, gaining insight into their challenges and the impact of health-related issues on their lives. At Camp Invention, I had the opportunity to inspire young minds and ignite their passions for science and innovation, further fueling my excitement for the field. As a result of my volunteerism, I was honored with the FMHS 2024 Humanitarian Award. As I envision my career in pharmacology, I hope to make an impact by contributing to the development of innovative prescription drugs and therapies that not only treat diseases but also minimize adverse effects and improve overall patient well-being. Understanding how drugs are absorbed, metabolized, and excreted can contribute to the development of safer and more effective medications. I aspire to be part of a collaborative effort to create medications that are more accessible, safer, and tailored to individual patient needs, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for people facing various health challenges. My education and career plans are driven by a desire to serve others, inspired by my grandfather's journey, and shaped by my experiences in volunteering and community service. His journey has inspired me to pursue a career where I can use my knowledge and passion to help others facing similar challenges. I am committed to making a meaningful impact in the field of pharmacology and am eager to embark on this journey of discovery and learning. I believe through pharmacology, I can make a difference in the world, one medication at a time.
