Learner Math Lover Scholarship
My love of math did not start at a young age, but developed over time, and was brought to cultivation in my last few years of highschool.
Ever since I started school, I was always fascinated by science and how God created the world around me to be so complex. While my love of science developed, I struggled to understand math and how it worked. I tried so hard to understand what I was doing, but math just seemed so difficult and incomprehensible. I wanted to give up and stop trying several times, but I continued to press on towards my goal of understanding what I was being taught.
That was the greatest decision I could have made because in 9th grade I took a physical science class that changed my perspective on math forever. When I decided I wanted to take physical science in 9th grade my parents were a little worried about my math skills not being enough because I had just started learning Pre Algebra, but I am so glad that they allowed me to take that class. The class had a lot of math in it and when I read the book, something clicked in my brain. I don't know what it was, but I finally understood the math I was doing, and I loved it!
After that I went on to put more effort into my math, and I even chose to take physics for fun my senior year of highschool. Math is now a subject that sparks my curiosity and causes excitement in me. I spent my highschool years learning to love, and also teach math (to my younger sisters).
