Special Delivery of Dreams Scholarship
Growing up as the middle child in my family, It was a stimulating experience for me. I often found myself in a unique position, sandwiched between my over-accomplished A+ older sister and my dear younger sister. While my older sister set the bar high with her achievements and remarkable grades, I felt the pressure to carve out my own identity and make my mark. I often found myself facing the challenge of proving myself in the shadow of my older sister, with only a three age gap difference. I always attended the same school as her, and I would always end up with the same teacher that my older sister had. And the phrases "Are you Adrianna's sister?" and "Hopefully you're just as good as her!" were not new to me. So not only did I have to do what my sister did, but I had to do better. At the same time, I also wanted to be a positive role model for my younger sister, encouraging her to aim high and pursue her dreams while also setting higher expectations for my younger sister. This taught me the importance of perseverance and determination in adversity. Receiving this scholarship is a crucial step in my future plans, enabling me to give back to the community by obtaining an educational degree that will help me establish a name for myself and achieve my goal of starting my own architecture and engineering firm. Through my firm, I plan to donate money to the community to provide better housing for those in need, creating a positive impact on society.
In addition, I never knew what philately was until this scholarship, and looking into the hobby, I relaized that there are so many unknown hobbies hidden in the shadows like I once was in my sisters. Making small hobbies more known helps make people more aware and more connected to one another with such small and unknown hobbies as the study of postage stamps. This hobby is unique and promotes the study of postage stamps and their historical, cultural, and artistic significance. I believe that encouraging young people to pursue philately can foster a deeper understanding of history and culture. I would encourage young people to explore this hobby by organizing stamp collecting events, workshops, and exhibitions to showcase the beauty and educational value of philately. And who knows, maybe my firm in the future will design the museum where philately would take over the world.
SrA Terry (TJ) Sams Jr. Civil Engineering Scholarship
Ever since I was a child, Legos have been my most significant fascination; they represent the art of building. It all started with this love, spending countless hours creating structures and marveling at how each piece fit together so perfectly to form something so remarkable. I remember the thrill of receiving a new Lego set, eagerly anticipating the challenge of putting it together according to the instructions. It was like solving a complex puzzle, with each piece contributing to the final masterpiece. From my biggest house to the smallest car, I would always be eager to hear the legos clash against the floor as I picked them up individually and put them in their place. I would meticulously organize the pieces, taking great care to ensure no one was misplaced. As I grew older, my passion for architecture and mechanical engineering only intensified. The idea of bringing my imagination to life through design and engineering captured my heart and mind.
As I transitioned into adolescence, my passion for architecture and mechanical engineering only continued to grow. I found myself captivated by the idea of merging creativity with mathematics, a concept that architecture embodies so beautifully. Choosing these degrees was a natural decision for me. On the other hand, mechanical engineering provides me with the opportunity to delve into the intricate workings of mathimatics and how certain things work.
My dream is to one day establish my own architecture and engineering firm, where I can bring together a team of like-minded individuals to create groundbreaking designs and technological marvels. I envision a future where my firm will be known for its commitment to pushing the boundaries of physics and traditional architecture. I am driven by the belief that my firm can be a motivation for positive change, not just in the structures we create but also in the communities we serve. I dream of a future where our firm's projects contribute to the betterment of society, where our work leaves a profound and lasting mark on the world, and where the boundaries of what is possible are continually expanded and redefined. I also envision the faces of individuals when they see what my firm has created, and they realize this was the Lego piece that was missing from their lives the entire time.
