President of FCCLA. BETA, HOSA, CFA Leadership Academy, and church youth group member, Varsity spirit cheerleader. I recently partnered with Satilla Advocacy Services and planned a stuffed animal drive for child abuse victims. I always love to be involved and help as many people as I can, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
I have always known I wanted to be in the medical field as I would play “Doctor” as a child. The interest continued up until the Covid pandemic as I wanted to be a part of a community that helped others for a living. I am dual-enrolled and became a Certified Nurse Aide with both my basic life support and CPR certification.
I am on track to be accepted into the Nursing program in Fall 2025. I plan to major with an Associate of Science in Nursing. I made headway with this career path as I am employed as a CNA. I plan on going into the pediatric field to help become a role model and provide guidance for the youth in my local communities.
I had an excellent bilingual Pediatrician growing up which has led to me to be involved in helping underprivileged children. I live in a rural community with many insecure households and a growing Hispanic community. By being able to provide comfort and communication, not only on a medical standpoint but also culturally, I will be able to make a difference in the lives of these children who just want a normal life growing up. I, at one time, was also in those circumstances which is why I am so passionate about this endeavor. Children are the future, which is why we must invest in and provide them with proper resources.

Rompe Las Fronteras Scholarship
My name is Esmeralda Santana and I am an 18 year old Senior at Pierce County High School. Over the course of my high school career, I have been President of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) for two consecutive years, a member of BETA club for three years, a Health Occupational Leaders of America (HOSA) member for two years, a Chick-fil-a Leadership Academy member and a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Along with all of this, I have also been a Spirit Cheerleader for two years and a member of the St. Joseph youth group for four years. I recently partnered with Satilla Advocacy Services and planned a stuffed animal drive for victims of child abuse. I always love to be involved and help as many people as I can, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
I have always known since I was a child that I wanted to be in the medical field. Instead of playing with the typical dolls, hair, and makeup, I played “Doctor” with those in my household. The interest continued up until the Coronavirus pandemic and I knew that I wanted to be a part of the community that helped others for a living. I continued my education by being Dual enrolled through Coastal Pines Technical College and became a Certified Nurse Aide with both my basic life support and CPR certification.
After my graduation in May, I plan to transfer 21 credits into South Georgia State College this summer to be on track to be accepted into the Nursing program in Fall 2025. I plan to major with an Associate of Science in Nursing, and bridge over to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I have already made headway with this career path as I am currently employed as a Nurse Aide at Baptist Village nursing home. I plan on going into the pediatric field after this to help become a role model and provide guidance for the youth in my local communities.
It is very important for me to be in the health occupational field because I feel as though this has been my life calling since a very young age. I had an excellent bilingual Pediatrician growing up which has ultimately led to me to be involved in helping underprivileged children. I live in a rural community with many insecure households with a growing Hispanic community yearly. By being able to provide both comfort and communication, not only from a medical standpoint but also culturally, I will be able to make a difference in the lives of these children who just want a normal life growing up. I, at one time, was also in those circumstances which is why I am so passionate about this endeavor. By achieving my goal of becoming a pediatric nurse through South Georgia State College, I will be able to help the upcoming generations of children. Children are the future, which is why we must invest in making them the best that we can by providing them with proper resources.
The Rompe Las Fronteras Scholarship will help me pursue my goals by providing me with financial assistance towards my educational goals after high school. It is an amazing opportunity to be considered for this scholarship as it is one that helps students, in the same way that I will be doing so in the future. I am beyond blessed to have an opportunity like this. Muchas gracias por su tiempo y consideración.

The Donna M.Umstead Memorial Work Ethic Scholarship will help me pursue my goals by providing me with financial assistance towards my educational goals after high school. It is an amazing opportunity to be considered for this scholarship as it is one that helps students, in the same way that I will be doing so in the future. I am beyond blessed to have an opportunity like this. Muchas gracias por su tiempo y consideración.

I plan on going into the pediatric field after this to help become a role model and provide guidance for the youth in our local communities.
By being able to provide both comfort and communication, not only on a medical standpoint but also culturally, I will be able to make a difference in the lives of these children who just want a normal life growing up.
The Deborah Stevens Pediatric Nursing Scholarship will help me pursue my goals by providing me with financial assistance towards my educational goals after high school. It is an amazing opportunity to be considered for this scholarship as it is one that helps students, in the same way that I will be doing so in the future. I am beyond blessed to have an opportunity like this. Muchas gracias por su tiempo y consideración.
