The career I desire to pursue is an OBGYN so I can help women. I have had a passion for women's health since middle school. During my high school years, I have taken multiple health science classes. In my core subjects, I’ve found creative ways to pursue my passion for women’s health through projects, essays, and more. For example, In my AP Human Geography class I did a website about women’s access to healthcare in less developed countries and how it affects their populations. Women’s health is very intriguing to me because I want to impact the field of women’s health, especially when it comes to black maternal mortality. After all, it is increasing at alarming rates. I want to help women and be a leader in women’s health. I hope to make a positive impact on women’s health by eventually being the top OBGYN in the world and having multiple clinics everywhere. I also want to have a women’s health organization to reach as many women as I can without necessarily being their doctor. I plan on majoring in public health because I want to reach other women and their families on a larger scale. I care about community health and education so women can learn about their health. As a woman myself, I feel as though I can connect to other women on a deeper level because this world is honestly cruel to women, especially when it comes to our health. Society tends to not listen to women whenever something is wrong with us, and they think that we are exaggerating when something may be wrong that can harm us. This is where black maternal mortality comes from because society tends to dismiss black women more than most compared to any other race. I also want to own multiple free clinics and pregnancy health clinics because I feel like healthcare is treated as more of a business than caring for people, especially in the United States. This is why I plan to have free clinics and for-profit clinics that are affordable. Everyone deserves healthcare, no matter who you are, where you come from, or your financial status. Not only do I want to be an OBGYN, but I also want to become a childbirth educator and pregnancy coach when I get to college so I can help other women while on the pathway to becoming an OBGYN because I want to be able to start my positive impact now.
