In 2006, my parents migrated to Miami, FL but I was born and raised In Haiti. I always say that I’m from Miami a lot when people ask me where I’m from because not that many people know where Haiti is. To make it easy I say Miami, geographically it is pretty close to Miami. I joined the NAVY after two years of college, but I didn’t finish because I lost interest in what I was going for. I was going to school for computer engineering technology but didn’t see myself doing that for the long term. I was still trying to figure out what career path to choose that I would love the most. I challenge myself to seek new adventures while I figure out my desired career, I enlisted in the United State Navy. I served in the Navy for 8 years, and enlisting in the military was my way of saying thank you to the United States of America for granting me the opportunity to have a better life. I had the opportunity to work with a lot of great people from different backgrounds, the best experience I ever had. I had the opportunity to work on F-18 aircraft and that’s where I grew a passion for aviation that I didn’t know I had. Working on those F-18 aircraft is exciting, having to fix an issue that may take 3 to 5 hours and then seeing that aircraft flying again is what makes me happy. The military was a great experience, I was moving up the ranks but somehow it felt like I wasn’t accomplishing anything. My interest and passion since separating from the military, have been aviation so I decided that I should just pursue getting an A&P license and still work in the aviation community as a civilian instead. My goals are to get an A&P license and a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Science with an AOC in safety at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. From what I’ve been told that the safety AOC gets to perform crash investigations, it seems very interesting that’s why I’m going to the safety side. I enjoy working with my hands, building, tearing down, and fixing things; feels like playing with puzzles and connecting the dots, it’s fun. Being an AMT is the perfect career that I've been seeking.
