Bio

When I was younger, my parents told me that I was a planner, thinker, and problem solver. I wanted to understand the why’s and how’s of things. I was interested in the concepts behind how a particular something or system worked, not necessarily the physical aspects of it. My desire to find solutions to issues that people say “Is the best we can do?” interests me to pursue Industrial and Systems Engineering. I'm most passionate about helping others and making others happy. I like to put others before myself and it feels good to see a smile on someone's face. I am a great candidate because I possess a combination of skills and I would like to use my skills for many opportunities.

    Disney Super Fan Scholarship
It is very hard to pick just one thing that is my favorite thing about Disney. I believe I have a very deep connection to Disney simply because the company has played a profound role in shaping my many interests, passions, and cherished memories. Growing up, I was immersed in everything Disney. From the early days of watching Playhouse Disney (now Disney Junior) and Disney Princess Films, it has brought me much joy and inspiration. As I started to get a little bit over, I shifted to Disney Channel shows like Good Luck Charlie, That’s So Raven, and Shake It Up. The characters Rocky and Cece from Shake It Up even pushed my passion for dance that I continue to enjoy. I think it is quite remarkable that Disney is able to connect with people of all ages, as I have grown with its content. As we all know, there are many different Disney movies, but my favorite will always be High School Musical. I have always loved the songs and dance sequences. In fact, I can recite the three movies word for word. This franchise is deeply iconic and presents themes of self-discovery and finding one's place. It especially resonates deeply with my own journey of personal growth. I have grown an attachment to the characters and their stories have left a huge mark on me, influencing my own identity and aspirations. My transition from childhood into young adulthood came partly from my favorite movie franchise that I had frequently watched as a child and today. So, I will always have a soft spot for High School Musical. One of my most cherished and memorable memories is my fifth birthday. My family and I visited Walt Disney World in Orlando for the first time. Despite financial limitations, my parents wanted to create a magical experience for my sister and I. To this day, I remember the impressions of that trip—the amazing smells, fun-themed rides, delicious foods, and heartwarming character encounters. Now, my family and my best friend’s family travel to Disney World every few years together. It is something we all look forward to and has become a vacation tradition for us. Disney’s shows, movies, and experiences, have not only been a source of entertainment for me but have been pivotal for my personal growth and lasting memories. My love for Disney displays a journey that began in my childhood and continues to evolve, enriching my life with inspiration, passion, and unforgettable memories.

In a world often marred by division and self-interest, it is important to recognize the profound impact that helping others can have on individuals and society as a whole. Through personal experiences and reflections, I have come to understand the importance of helping others, as it not only enriches the lives of those we assist but also fosters a sense of interconnectedness and inspires positive change. Helping others is a fundamental aspect of building meaningful connections and fostering a sense of community. When we extend a helping hand to those in need, we break down barriers and create bonds of trust and understanding. By embracing our shared humanity and recognizing the struggles faced by others, we cultivate empathy and compassion. This sense of connection not only enriches our own lives but also empowers individuals to overcome challenges, knowing that they are not alone. Together, we can build a society that values the well-being and success of every member. Helping others has a transformative ripple effect that extends far beyond the immediate impact. CEW IV Foundation Scholarship Program
In a world rife with social inequalities and systemic injustices, the need for society to reevaluate its response to the problems faced by the disadvantaged is more crucial than ever. As I reflect upon this question, it becomes evident that a paradigm shift is not only necessary but also imperative for creating a more equitable and inclusive world. By changing our response to the problems of the disadvantaged, we can foster an environment that promotes equal opportunity for every individual, regardless of their background. It is essential to recognize that circumstances beyond one's control, such as being an underrepresented minority, poverty, discrimination, or limited access to education and resources, can severely impede personal development and success. By addressing the root causes of these problems and implementing policies that aim to uplift the disadvantaged, we can create a society where everyone has a fair chance to thrive and contribute their talents. A society that perpetuates marginalization and neglects the needs of the disadvantaged risks breeding division, resentment, and instability. In contrast, when we acknowledge and address the challenges faced by the marginalized, we foster social cohesion and promote a sense of collective responsibility. By providing support systems, equal opportunities, and inclusive policies, we create a society where individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered. Such an environment paves the way for harmonious coexistence, mutual understanding, and the pursuit of common goals. Every individual possesses unique talents, perspectives, and contributions that can enrich society. By failing to address the problems faced by the disadvantaged, we squander the potential of countless individuals who could otherwise have made significant contributions to their communities and the world at large. A society that recognizes and nurtures the potential of all its members is more likely to innovate, prosper, and progress. By changing our response to the disadvantaged, we unlock a vast reservoir of untapped human potential, driving societal advancement and collective success. As a compassionate and empathetic society, it is our ethical duty to uplift the disadvantaged and work towards rectifying the systemic injustices they face. When we witness individuals grappling with poverty, discrimination, or limited opportunities, it is incumbent upon us to challenge the status quo and advocate for change. By reevaluating our response, we demonstrate our commitment to justice, fairness, and the principles of human rights. It is only through collective action and systemic change that we can break the cycle of disadvantage and create a more just and compassionate world. The necessity for society to change its way of responding to the problems of the disadvantaged is undeniable. By promoting equal opportunity, fostering social cohesion, maximizing human potential, and adhering to our ethical responsibilities, we can build a society that is more just, inclusive, and resilient. Embracing this transformation enables us to create a world where every individual, regardless of their background, can flourish and contribute to the betterment of humanity. As I embark on my educational journey, I am committed to being a catalyst for change, advocating for the marginalized, and working towards a future where societal transformation ensures a more equitable and compassionate world for all.

In a world where systemic inequities persist, it is imperative to actively contribute towards uplifting marginalized communities. The Black community, in particular, has long endured historical injustices and systemic racism. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields play a pivotal role in shaping our world. However, they have often been marked by underrepresentation and limited access to marginalized communities. To address this disparity and foster inclusivity, I have always wanted to utilize my strengths, time, and talents in STEM-related initiatives. By actively engaging with the Black community through STEM, we can inspire and empower future generations, bridge gaps, and drive positive change. One of the most impactful ways to give back to the Black community through STEM is by leveraging our unique strengths and expertise. Professionals in STEM fields can offer mentorship, internships, or apprenticeships to aspiring Black students interested in pursuing careers in these areas. I remember having individuals give me a plethora of knowledge in this field, and to this day I use it. It was very beneficial and inspiring to me, and I want to be able to keep that circle of knowledge flowing. By sharing our knowledge and experiences, we can guide and support young minds, helping them navigate the complexities of STEM education and career paths. By showcasing diverse role models and success stories, we challenge stereotypes and demonstrate that excellence in STEM is not limited by race or background. There aren’t a lot of women in engineering fields, but more specifically, black women. However, when I see other women who look like me in engineering, it makes me feel as though I am capable too. This point develops another goal of mine: encouraging Black women into STEM-related fields. I want to be a part of the next generation of women in engineering because there is a lack of women in STEM careers and be an example for other young women to follow. Because of this, a huge part of giving back to my community is being a mentor for people who look like me. Programs like Junior NSBE, Seek by NSBE, and other mentorship programs have helped shape the person I am today. Giving back to my community is essentially becoming a resource for people, to help foster, develop, and actively provide knowledge. Investing time in the Black community through STEM-related activities can have a profound impact on individuals and the broader community. I have been engaging with local organizations, such as Caterpillars Promise, which allows me and other like-minded students to share our passion and knowledge directly with young learners. By being a part of this growing organization, we provide guidance, encouragement, and resources that empower students to pursue STEM disciplines. It allows us to be the change and share insights into STEM career pathways and the potential for innovation and impact. By providing guidance on educational choices, scholarships, and resources, we enable Black students to navigate the often complex landscape of STEM education. Giving back to the Black community through STEM offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gaps of representation and access. By leveraging our strengths, investing our time, and unleashing our talents, we can empower and inspire future generations of Black scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and innovators. Through mentorship, educational outreach, and inclusive initiatives, we can break down barriers, challenge biases, and foster a more diverse and inclusive STEM community. By actively engaging with the Black community through STEM, we contribute to a more equitable society, where talent and potential are not limited by race, but celebrated and nurtured for the betterment of all.

It enables us to experience a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and satisfaction in our lives. Good mental health allows us to enjoy life's pleasures, engage in meaningful activities, and have a positive outlook on life. Secondly, mental health is closely linked to physical health. Research has shown that mental health issues, such as chronic stress, anxiety, and depression, can impact our physical health. For instance, persistent stress can lead to the release of stress hormones, which can contribute to the development of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, immune system disorders, and gastrointestinal issues. Taking care of our mental health can contribute to better physical health outcomes and overall wellness. Thirdly, mental health plays a crucial role in our ability to function effectively in various aspects of life. It affects our cognitive abilities, such as memory, concentration, and decision-making skills, which are essential for academic and professional success. Good mental health enables us to perform well in our daily activities, such as work, school, and personal responsibilities. On the other hand, poor mental health can negatively impact our productivity, focus, and ability to cope with challenges, leading to difficulties in various areas of life. Furthermore, mental health is vital for building and maintaining healthy relationships and social connections. It affects our ability to communicate, empathize, and connect with others. Good mental health enables us to form and maintain positive relationships, while poor mental health can lead to social isolation, strained relationships, and difficulties in interpersonal interactions. Strong social connections and supportive relationships are crucial for our emotional well-being and overall quality of life. In addition, mental health is a key factor in developing a healthy mind and coping skills. As someone who struggles with anxiety, it is hard to go on about my day sometimes. I’m always worried about what could go wrong, causing me to panic and stress. In order to combat my anxiety, I reached out to my physician who recommended that I do therapy. Therapy has allowed and encouraged me to live life with an open mind and not consistently focus on the bad things that happen. I don’t need to stress and worry about my academics, my finances, and life in general because anxiety only makes my physical and mental health decline drastically. Good mental health allows us to develop resilience, which helps us navigate life's ups and downs with greater ease. Moreover, mental health involves self-care and self-awareness. It requires understanding our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and taking steps to maintain our mental well-being through self-care practices such as regular exercise, sufficient sleep, a healthy diet, and stress management techniques. Self-awareness and self-care contribute to better mental health outcomes and overall wellness. By prioritizing self-care and self-awareness, we can enhance our mental well-being and effectively manage stress and other challenges. In conclusion, mental health is of paramount importance for our overall well-being, physical health, relationships, functioning, resilience, self-care, and prevention of mental health issues. It influences how we think, feel, and behave, and impacts various aspects of our lives.

As an industrial engineering student, my academic and professional goals revolve around acquiring a comprehensive understanding of the field and leveraging my knowledge to contribute to the world of industry and manufacturing. I aspire to obtain a degree in industrial engineering and utilize it to make meaningful contributions in various industrial sectors. One of my primary goals is to gain a deep understanding of the principles and techniques of industrial engineering, including process optimization, supply chain management, quality control, and human factors engineering. I aim to develop proficiency in using advanced tools and software to analyze data, model systems, and optimize processes for improved efficiency and productivity. I also seek to apply my skills and knowledge to real-world challenges by engaging in internships, research projects, and collaborative initiatives with industries and organizations. This will allow me to gain practical experience, hone my problem-solving skills, and apply my theoretical knowledge to practical situations. Furthermore, I am passionate about sustainability and ethical practices in industrial engineering. I aim to explore ways to integrate sustainable practices, such as green manufacturing, waste reduction, and energy efficiency, into industrial processes to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable development. In addition to my technical skills, I also recognize the importance of effective communication, leadership, and teamwork in the field of industrial engineering. Therefore, I aim to enhance my interpersonal and leadership skills through extracurricular activities, group projects, and collaborations, as well as by seeking mentorship and networking opportunities. Ultimately, my goal is to secure a job in the field of industrial engineering where I can apply my knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems, contribute to process improvement, enhance efficiency and productivity, and make a positive impact on the industry and society as a whole. I am driven by the desire to contribute to the advancement of industrial engineering and play a role in shaping a better, more sustainable future for industries and communities alike. In terms of giving back to my community, I believe that giving back to my community is essential for fostering positive social change, creating a sense of belonging, and improving the overall well-being of both individuals and the community as a whole. It is not only a moral responsibility but also an opportunity to contribute to the greater good and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I actively participate in community service events, volunteering in school and out of school, and I have been a Girl Scout since the age of 5. Programs like Junior NSBE, seek my NSBE, and, mentor programs have helped shape the person I am today. Giving back to my community is essentially becoming a resource for people, to help foster, develop, and actively provide information. Because of this, I have always wanted to create a program for Black young girls in STEM, and I am now in the works of making this program come to life.

When I was younger, my parents told me that I was a planner, thinker, and problem solver. I wanted to understand the “whys” and “hows” of things. I was interested in the concepts behind how a particular something or system worked, not necessarily the physical aspects of it. As a child, I was always interested in figuring out how things worked and I naturally gravitated to S.T.E.M. classes and activities in class and during summer camps. My passion for STEM derives from my desire to find solutions to issues that people say “Is the best we can do?” interests me to pursue Industrial and Systems Engineering. Whether it is quietly trying to determine how to minimize wait times in admissions at my part-time summer job at Fun Spot or what makes Amazon’s business model agile enough to touch every market every day, sparks my interest. STEM is heavily known as a white, male-dominated field. There aren’t a lot of minorities in engineering fields, but more specifically, black women. However, when I see other women who look like me in engineering, it makes me feel as though I am capable too. This point develops another goal of mine: encouraging younger black girls into STEM-related fields. I aspire to be able to influence other minorities to pursue STEM by just speaking out on my experiences. I plan to do this by participating in and supporting various junior STEM programs because those are the programs that encouraged me to pursue engineering. I want to be a part of the next generation of women in engineering because there is a lack of minorities in STEM careers, and be an example for other young black women to follow. In order to achieve my educational career and life goals, I plan to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. What really interests me in pursuing Industrial Engineering is the institute’s emphasis on research and projects. Georgia Tech can aid in achieving my goals as it can provide me with a multitude of opportunities to pursue my chosen major of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Through Industrial Engineering, I want to be able to learn about different aspects of business and system processes from a global and holistic standpoint. After I graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, I plan to pursue a career that allows me to use my new skills. I want to make a name for myself as well as build a life for myself. I aspire to work at companies such as Apple, Amazon, Chick-Fil-A, or even become an Imagineer for Disney. I also want to expand my horizons and move to a new city and travel the world. I desire to continue experiencing my personal growth, guiding other young minorities into STEM-related fields, building new connections, and smoothly assimilating into society.
