A goal I have set for myself is to become a biomedical engineer. This is my dream job, as it appeals to my interests in both engineering and helping others. I plan to achieve this goal through pursuing higher education and earning a degree in biomedical engineering. Upon graduating high school, I will work towards employment at a biomedical company. With this position, I will research biomaterials and prosthetic design. Although they are needed by many, prosthetics are expensive and not financially accessible to all. I would like to find innovative ways to make higher quality prosthetics more affordable, which I plan to achieve alongside my goal of becoming a biomedical engineer. Throughout middle and high school, I have enjoyed volunteering at local robotics tournaments and STEM related family events. Promoting STEM is important, especially to the younger generations and those underrepresented in STEM communities. As a woman in engineering, I’ve seen firsthand that my participation empowers other young girls to get involved. This inspires me to continue engineering, which I plan on pursuing in college. I plan to work on projects developing prosthetics and researching biomaterials. I cannot wait to share my research and hopefully inspire others to get involved in STEM as well. In addition to robotics and pursuing an engineering career, I also enjoy running, swimming, reading, and writing in my free time.
