Someone who has always been so impactful to this day of my life would be my uncle who is a dedicated member of the Border Patrol. Growing up, I've always looked at him and his commitment to the safety and security of our borders. His passion for justice and his pursuit of excellence in his career left great lessons, which shaped my ways of making a difference in law enforcement through his path. One of the best qualities that I've observed in my uncle is the dedication that he has to his duty. He always advances over every task with a sense of purpose and willpower, never stopping amid challenges. His perseverance serves as a constant reminder that true change requires always being obligated and with steadfastness, especially in the field of law enforcement. Furthermore, my uncle possesses exceptional integrity and moral character. That type of character is what impacted me because, in the world of law enforcement, there is always integrity that comes first. He holds himself to the highest standards, always being sure to uphold the rules of fairness and justice that bring peace to our community. His commitment to honesty is what allows him to be able to be a great officer serving the law. Witnessing all of this taught me the importance of always standing up for what is right, even when the odds are not in your favor. Through his experiences in border patrol, he has gained quite a lot of information about the complexities of law enforcement and immigration. His deep understanding of these issues that always arise, has inspired me to pursue a career in public service, with a focus on making a major difference in my community. Going back on my uncle's influence, I have truly realized that many of his habits and qualities are a crucial part of making impactful differences in law enforcement, especially in border security. Participating in the U.S. Customs Explorers program, a police academy for the youth that's dedicated to community service, has shaped me to strive for more personal growth and responsibility. I aim to reflect on how my involvement in the program has enabled me to contribute meaningfully to my community, learn about being on the job, see my community's future, and pursue a scholarship to go further on the pathway. This program is deeply committed to community engagement and service. One of the ways that I help my community here in Texas is by being active when it comes to participating in public events and games. Whether it is organizing the local sports tournaments or volunteering in any sort of public event as well. Being active in these activities not only allows me to know my community but also demonstrates my commitment to serving the public beyond law enforcement duties. This program has allowed me to truly realize how much it means to always serve the community to the best of my ability. This scholarship will not only benefit me but also hold a promise for the future of my community.

With the world of law enforcement agencies out there, it's safe to say that we as a nation are all in good hands. However, I plan on achieving something far greater than just protecting the nation's borders. The responsibility can be challenging but through hard work and determination, it can be done. Ever since then, it has been a lifelong goal of mine as a future career to pursue criminal justice with a bachelor's degree. That being said, once I'm in the U.S. Customs, I make it my goal to help my community in keeping the border safe for all who live in it. Furthermore, I've been in an explorer program that teaches much about law enforcement, and that has made me realize how much I'd want to pursue this pathway to help those who need to be saved from crime itself. The world may not be perfect as the way it is with crime going on here and there but I must make sure that even a mere fraction of the crime rate in the borders goes down. It makes not only a community happy but also feel stress-free because crime can be a serious problem that can arise as a greater threat to the community. No matter how small or big a crime may be, justice is to be served for the sake of keeping the community's peace. My community would even have a voice as well and partake in protecting our community by stating their concerns and needs which I will assist in any possible way I can. With this, I'd serve as a federal officer working in the field and am sworn to aid when one is in need. I aim to lend a helping hand to ensure safety and to empower my community knowing that they are safe from any sort of danger that can often be overlooked. The communities are already in great hands but with the contribution of my own, its future can be looked upon much brighter. My community can and will be far safer with a collaborative approach of my own.
