Art has always been my passion since I was a little girl. Drawing, sketching, and painting bring me so much joy because they’re the best ways for me to express myself. There’s something magical about taking a blank page and turning it into something full of color, life, and meaning. The process itself is just as rewarding as the finished piece. When I’m sketching out an idea or blending colors into a painting, it feels like I’m in my own world. But what I love most is creating cartoons. There’s something so exciting about bringing characters to life and giving them their own little stories and personalities. Cartoons Aren't just drawings; they’re full of humor, quirks and emotions. It’s so much fun to experiment with expressions and storylines that make people laugh or feel connected to the characters. When someone smiles or chuckles at a cartoon I’ve made, it’s the best feeling. Thinking about turning my passion for art into a career is so exciting. If my art makes people happy now, I can only imagine how much joy I could spread if I pursued it professionally. Whether it’s through comics, animation, or illustrations, I’d love to create work that inspires others or helps them escape their everyday worries. I love the way art has the power to connect people and make the world feel a little brighter, and I’d be so proud to be a part of that.
When I was a child, I grew up in a family that had a different way of thinking, with traditions, and celebrations. My family immigrated from Trinidad and Tobago to the US. I have a big family with different cultures mixed in, who encouraged me to embrace and celebrate different cultures including ours. It is also why I want to pursue a career in arts because I've always adored how other cultures express themselves through art. Art has also given me the chance to look at the world from a different lens and cross through various cultures comfortably. Hearing from my peers over the years has opened my eyes on how I view the world. Being a part of an underrepresented group has presented me with struggles that have particularly honed my strength, perseverance, and flexibility as a black girl. I can now relate to people who may already be wrestling with similar issues because now in my life it has shaped my perspective to understand the people I did not expect to meet in my journey and how much their stories mattered.
For me, Art is not just about making a living or doing it for the money; it’s about doing something meaningful. I want to create art that sparks joy, laughter and creativity in people. Sharing my work and seeing how it impacts people would be a dream come true.
It feels good to know that pursuing art could mean sharing my passion and making others happy at the same time.

Attending college, especially for something that I have been apart of and have done since a child would be such a dream come true. It will get me one step closer to not only making my family proud, but to show that art can be used is ways that could insight passion and change.
