Bio

Hi y’all! I’m Erica! I’m 28 years old. Love life, my God and family, and love working with children. My dream career I am wanting to pursue when I graduate next year is to work in the juvenile court system. I want to help troubled kids out there who may not have anyone else there for them. I also want to be the one who makes sure they have the necessities they need to survive. I know at one time someone told me it was called an independent juvenile court investigator but I’m not sure if that’s what it’s called. I also in the future want to open up either a foster home or group home for troubled children. Yes, I understand it will be a tough job but it’s something God is calling me to do and I’m gonna do it. My student loans and Pell grant have currently paid up to the end of October 2023 and I won’t have any more of my loan to use except Pell grant and it doesn’t cover everything so I’m in the process of applying for scholarships before time runs out because I’m determined to graduate and I know God will always provide somehow if it's His will.

Hi everyone! I just want to first say how grateful I am to even be in college already and for everything I have. I am currently on my last year of college for getting my bachelors degree in criminal justice. I am wanting to make a difference for the children through the juvenile court system and to be the light they need in this world giving them hope even when the world does not. I have always loved working with kids and just knew it was something God wanted me to do as my calling but I never really understood what He was wanting me to do until my stepson got in foster care through some things in the fault of his mother that I will leave disclosed. We have been fighting for him since day 1 in 2018 and having to go through all this I cannot even imagine what all he has had to go through since then with the different homes they have had to put him in. I now know God has put me in this position to learn these struggles and finish my degree to help other children in this position who may not actually have anyone fighting for them that are in the system. It is definitely not a fun place to be and I pray daily for all these children big or small that they are able to grow up in a good upbringing and make a good name for themselves in this world. I also pray someone has shown them as much love as deserve just as God loves us. Back to the reason for me applying for this scholarship, I honestly do need the money to finish out my degree. It truly would help a great deal as i have reached my loan limit right at the beginning of my last year. I am supposed to finish up and graduate with my bachelors in criminal justice sometime November 2024 but at this rate I am not sure if I will be able to if I cannot pay the remaining balance of everything which is roughly $15,000. I appreciate your time and I look forward to hearing back from you. Again this opportunity would mean the world to me. I have faith in God and know He always makes a way but I know I have to do my part as well. Like my mother always used to tell me growing up and I’ve always stuck with it “do your best and God will do the rest.” Thank you again.
