The US Constitution is a living document that outlines the principles and values that underpin American democracy. It sets forth the fundamental rights and freedoms that all citizens are entitled to, and serves as a framework for the government to uphold and protect these rights.
I am passionate about the US Constitution because of the critical role it plays in ensuring that every individual has equal rights and protections under the law. It is a cornerstone of our democracy and a powerful tool for ensuring that the government operates in the best interest of its citizens.
Civil rights are essential to creating a just and equitable society. Throughout history, we have seen how the denial of civil rights has led to systemic oppression, inequality, and injustice. Therefore, we must continue to fight for civil rights to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed and thrive.
I believe that fighting for civil rights requires a collective effort from individuals across all sectors and professions. Lawyers, policymakers, activists, educators, and citizens alike can all play a role in advancing civil rights and creating a more just society.
One way to continue to fight for civil rights is to support and advocate for policies and initiatives that promote equality, diversity, and inclusion. This could involve working with organizations that advocate for civil rights, volunteering in communities that have been historically marginalized, and using our voices to raise awareness and promote change.
Another way to fight for civil rights is to use our education and expertise to create systemic change. This could involve pursuing careers in fields that promote civil rights, such as law, public policy, social work, and education. It could also involve using research and evidence to inform policy decisions and to develop interventions that promote equality and justice.
For example, a person could become a civil rights lawyer and represent individuals or groups who have experienced discrimination or injustice. They could use their knowledge of the law to challenge discriminatory policies and practices and to advocate for systemic change.
Similarly, a person could work in public policy and use their expertise to develop and advocate for policies that promote civil rights and social justice. They could work with lawmakers and other policymakers to develop laws and regulations that protect civil rights and ensure equal access to opportunities and resources.
In the field of education, individuals could use their expertise to develop and implement curricula and programs that promote diversity, inclusion, and social justice. They could work with students, teachers, and communities to create safe and inclusive learning environments and to promote understanding and empathy.
In conclusion, the US Constitution is a critical document that outlines the principles and values of American democracy. Civil rights are essential to creating a just and equitable society, and it is up to each of us to continue to fight for these rights. We can all play a role in promoting civil rights and creating a more just society, whether through advocacy, education, or pursuing careers that align with these values.

As a college-bound student from an immigrant family, my journey has been full of challenges and opportunities. Growing up, my family instilled in me the importance of education and hard work. They sacrificed so much to give me the opportunities they never had. Their unwavering support has motivated me to pursue my dreams and to make the most out of every opportunity presented to me.
The path to higher education has been particularly difficult for me as a first-generation college student. I had to navigate the complex US education system and culture while balancing the expectations of my family and community. There were times when I felt overwhelmed and out of place, but I never gave up. Instead, I pushed myself harder and strived to be the best I could be.
My journey has also included six years of service in the US Army, which provided me with a unique set of experiences and skills. I joined the army immediately after high school because I wanted to serve my country and to make a difference in the world. My time in the military taught me the importance of discipline, teamwork, and leadership. I worked alongside some of the bravest and selfless individuals I have ever met, and their dedication to the country and its values inspired me to be a better person.
My experiences in the military also gave me a unique perspective on the world. I saw firsthand the impact of global conflict and the importance of diplomacy and peaceful resolution. I also witnessed the sacrifices that soldiers and their families make every day to defend our country's freedom and values.
As a college-bound student, I am committed to using my experiences and education to make a positive impact on the world. I believe that education is a powerful tool that can be used to promote understanding, empathy, and inclusivity. I plan to major in international relations to learn more about how to address global issues such as conflict, human rights violations, and poverty. I am particularly interested in diplomacy and international development and hope to use my education to help improve the lives of people around the world.
I am also passionate about community service and volunteerism. In the past, I have volunteered with organizations that support veterans, refugees, and homeless populations. I believe that community service is not only a way to give back to society, but also a way to learn about different cultures and perspectives.
In conclusion, my journey as a college-bound student from an immigrant family who also served six years in the US Army has taught me many valuable lessons about perseverance, discipline, teamwork, and leadership. I am excited to use my experiences and education to create a positive impact on the world and to inspire others to do the same. Nursing is not just a job, it is a calling that requires dedication, empathy, and a deep desire to help others. I plan to use my skills and knowledge as a nurse to improve the health and well-being of people in my community and beyond.

I will listen to their concerns, provide them with information, and empower them to make informed decisions about their health.
In addition to providing direct patient care, I also plan to engage in health promotion and disease prevention activities. As a nurse, I will have the opportunity to educate individuals and communities about healthy lifestyle choices, the importance of regular check-ups and screenings, and the benefits of early detection and intervention. By promoting health and preventing illness, I can help reduce the burden on our healthcare system and improve the overall health of the population.
Furthermore, I believe that nurses have an important role to play in advancing healthcare research and innovation. As a registered nurse, I will have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and contribute to the development of new treatments and therapies. Dema Dimbaya Humanitarianism and Disaster Relief Scholarship
As an LPN who served in the United States Army for six years, I understand the value of community service and disaster relief. Throughout my military career, I was exposed to various scenarios that tested my skills and knowledge in emergency situations. I learned that community service and disaster relief are vital to ensure the safety and well-being of the public. In this essay, I will discuss my experiences with community service and disaster relief and how they have shaped my perspective.
During my time in the military, I had the opportunity to participate in several community service events. I volunteered at homeless shelters, food banks, and assisted living facilities. Through these experiences, I learned the importance of giving back to the community. Community service not only provides assistance to those in need but also helps to build a sense of community and unity. It is essential to show support and care for our neighbors and those around us.
In addition to community service, I also had the opportunity to participate in disaster relief efforts. The military often deploys personnel to provide assistance during natural disasters, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and floods. These experiences taught me the importance of quick action and efficient response during emergencies. It is crucial to have a plan in place and be ready to act when disaster strikes. Through disaster relief efforts, I saw firsthand the positive impact that coordinated and efficient response efforts can have on those affected by disasters.
As an LPN, I understand the importance of healthcare in disaster relief efforts. During natural disasters, many people may be injured, and healthcare services are critical to ensuring their well-being. Healthcare providers, such as nurses, play a vital role in disaster relief efforts, providing care to those in need and assisting with emergency response efforts. As a nurse who has served in the military, I am equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide healthcare services in emergency situations.
In conclusion, community service and disaster relief are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of the public. Through my military service, I gained valuable experience in these areas, and I am committed to continuing to serve my community through volunteer work and disaster relief efforts. As an LPN, I understand the importance of healthcare in disaster relief efforts, and I am prepared to provide care and assistance when necessary. I believe that community service and disaster relief are essential for building a strong and resilient community, and I am proud to have the opportunity to contribute to these efforts.

As a goal-driven veteran, I have always believed in the importance of giving back to the community. Throughout my military career, I witnessed the power of service and the positive impact it can have on individuals and communities. Giving back to the community is not only a way to show gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices of others, but it is also a way to develop personal traits such as perseverance and compassion.
Perseverance is an essential trait for veterans, as we have overcome many challenges in our military service. Whether it was enduring the rigors of basic training or completing a difficult mission, perseverance has been key to our success. This same perseverance can be applied to community service, as it often requires dedication, hard work, and the ability to overcome obstacles. Through volunteering, veterans can use their perseverance to make a meaningful impact in their communities, such as building homes for the homeless or mentoring at-risk youth.
Additionally, veterans often possess a unique set of skills that can be used to make a positive impact in the community. These skills include leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are valuable assets in many community service projects. For example, a veteran who served as a team leader in the military may be well-suited to leading a community cleanup effort, while a veteran who served in a technical role may be able to provide expertise in a construction project.
Compassion is another critical trait that veterans possess. Compassion is the ability to understand and empathize with others, and it is a valuable asset in community service. Veterans have a unique perspective on service, as we have seen the sacrifices that others have made for our country. This perspective can help us to connect with others and show empathy for those who are struggling.
Moreover, community service can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment for veterans as they transition to civilian life. For many veterans, leaving the military can be a challenging experience as they adjust to a new way of life. Community service can provide a sense of purpose and meaning, as veterans can continue to serve and make a positive impact in their communities.
Finally, community service can also provide opportunities for veterans to connect with other like-minded individuals and develop new relationships. Through volunteer work, veterans can meet new people, build relationships, and expand their social networks. This can be particularly beneficial for veterans who may struggle with social isolation or have difficulty transitioning to civilian life.
In conclusion, as a goal-driven veteran, I believe in the importance of giving back to the community. Through community service, veterans can apply their traits such as perseverance and compassion to make a positive impact on the lives of others. It is not only a way to show gratitude for the sacrifices of others but also a way to develop personally, contribute to the betterment of society and find fulfillment after military service. Veterans bring a unique set of skills, experience, and perspective to community service, and their contributions can make a significant difference in the lives of those around them.

Noble E. Gagucas Nursing Scholarship
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who served in the United States Army for six years, I have come to understand the importance of selflessness and patient advocacy in nursing. My military experience instilled in me a sense of duty, discipline, and dedication to serving others, especially those in need of medical care. In this essay, I will discuss how my experiences in the Army have shaped my values as a nurse, particularly in terms of selflessness and patient advocacy.
In the military, selflessness is a core value that guides every soldier's actions. As an LPN, I have carried this value with me into my nursing practice. I believe that nursing is a selfless profession that requires putting the needs of others before our own. This means being available to patients and their families 24/7, even on weekends and holidays. It means staying calm and focused in stressful situations, such as when a patient's condition suddenly deteriorates. It means putting aside personal biases and prejudices and treating every patient with the same level of care and respect.
I have witnessed the power of selflessness in action during my military service. Soldiers who put their own safety at risk to rescue their comrades, medics who treated wounded soldiers during battle, and doctors who worked around the clock to save lives are just a few examples. As an LPN, I strive to embody this selflessness by putting my patients' needs first, advocating for their care, and providing them with the best possible medical treatment.
Another important value that I learned during my military service is patient advocacy. In the Army, we were taught to advocate for our soldiers' health and well-being by providing them with the best possible care, regardless of their rank or position. We were also encouraged to speak up if we felt that something was not right, such as if a soldier was not receiving the proper medical treatment or was being mistreated in any way.
As an LPN, I believe that patient advocacy is essential to providing quality care. Patients rely on us to advocate for their health and well-being, to ensure that they are receiving the appropriate medical treatment and that their rights are being respected. This means speaking up when we notice something amiss, such as a medication error, a missed diagnosis, or a violation of patient privacy. It also means collaborating with other healthcare providers to ensure that our patients are receiving coordinated and comprehensive care.
My military experience has instilled in me a sense of selflessness and patient advocacy that I carry with me into my nursing practice. As an LPN, I strive to embody these values by putting my patients' needs first, advocating for their care, and providing them with the best possible medical treatment. I believe that by embodying these values, I can make a positive impact on the lives of my patients and contribute to the nursing profession as a whole.
