My life goal is to make a difference by helping animals that are in need. I feel as though many people tend to forget larger animals such as farm animals or wildlife need veterinarians too. As I attend college, I want to study abroad and volunteer to assist veterinarians who need people to help the wildlife. I want to make an impact and help the animals. Once I turn eighteen I plan to volunteer at an animal shelter and help those animals find a forever home. Not only help them find a home but give them the care and love they need.

Growing up with older siblings has always been challenging, feeling as though, I have to compete or try to fit in a family where I feel like an outsider. I have always struggled with standing out and being known as someone else’s little sister. My older siblings are well-rounded, have participated in sports, are artistic, and are overall intellectual. My parents have always been occupied with my older siblings and attending their events. However, I felt as though I had to only depend on myself.
As the youngest child in a family of eight, I have always been treated as the middle child. Even so, my parents always counted on me being able to take care of myself, I always wished I had someone to take care of me for a change. Having only to depend on myself has affected me, preventing me from ever relying on others. As I matured, I grew to realize that even though I had no support system from my family. I could overcome obstacles all on my own, such as knee injury, eye surgery, dislocated shoulder, and quarantine.
As I have overcome many obstacles throughout my life, I have developed characteristics that I believe are important to obtain as an individual. These characteristics are independence, critical thinking, wisdom, etc. Overcoming those obstacles has made me a stronger individual, mentally and emotionally. Without these experiences, I may have never become the person I am today. I have become strong enough to gain the courage to pursue my dreams of majoring in animal science.
Howbeit, I still wish to please my family, as I have always craved the four words, “I’m proud of you.” I have been striving to prove to people that I am capable of more than they think. As I progress my knowledge as a high school student, I am determined to involve myself and my knowledge and become a college student. For as long, as I can remember I have dreamt of becoming a veterinarian and helping animals in need of assistance. Even though I do not have my family as my support system I do have my dog, Mia. She is my best friend and companion, the very thing I know that has my back.
The day my dog was born my life completely changed for the better, there was an instant connection spark. As she grew so did our connection as we did everything together, such as playing outside, cuddling while watching movies, or spending time while I read. Not only did she keep me company but she has helped emotionally. She has shown me unconditional love which is why she has influenced my decision regarding my career. Not only has my love for animals impacted my decision, but my love for science has also impacted my decision. I have always been very fond of acquiring new knowledge on animal science.
Taking everything into consideration, gaining a college education is important to me as I want to help animals in need, as they do not have a voice. Animals have made the world a better place by showing us unconditional love and emotional support. I feel as though those are the qualities needed to become a veterinarian. Given all these points, I can be the best fit for the scholarship as I want to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian.
