I am a medical student, immigrant, devoted brother and changemaker. My passion for medicine stems from my lifelong experience as a caregiver to a sibling with Down syndrome, and I am determined to use my medical education to help meet the critical needs of many patients in a similar situation. Having come from humble beginnings as a Syrian immigrant, I have overcome tremendous adversity and displayed resilience by maintaining a high academic standing while supporting my family and sister as her primary caregiver. Therefore, I made a commitment to ease the transition for newcomers, promote social justice issues on a broader level, and engage underserved and disadvantaged populations with limited access to healthcare. My unyielding work to achieve this goal stems from my realization of how privileged I am compared to others of a similar background. To that end, I completed a Master's in Microbiology & Immunology and currently study medicine in Washington, D.C. to help hone my skills and equip me with the tools necessary to better serve a community that has left a huge mark on my identity.
