Mental health is something I never expected to be part of my story, but it has deeply impacted who I am, how I relate to others, and how I see my future. Like many people, I’ve faced seasons of anxiety, stress, and emotional exhaustion—especially during high school, when I tried to balance academics, extracurriculars, work, and ministry. At times, I’ve felt overwhelmed by the pressure to succeed, to lead well, and to stay strong for the people around me. But through all of that, God has used even the hardest moments to teach me about grace and empathy. One of the biggest ways mental health has affected me is in my faith. I’ve always been someone who believes in working hard and giving my best in everything I do, but I’ve learned the hard way that I can’t carry everything on my own. There have been moments when I felt burnt out, trying to be the perfect student, leader, daughter, and friend. It was in those moments that I realized my need for God more deeply. I learned that His strength is made perfect in my weakness. When I couldn’t control my circumstances or “fix” how I was feeling, I had to rely on prayer, scripture, and simply being still in His presence. That’s when I began to understand what it means to rest in Him, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. My experiences with mental health have also made me more compassionate and intentional in my relationships. I used to think I had to keep everything together, but I’ve learned that true connection comes from honesty and vulnerability. Opening up to my friends, mentors, and family about how I was feeling allowed them to support me in ways I didn’t even know I needed. It also helped me realize that so many people around me are struggling silently. Because of this, I’ve made it a personal mission to be someone others feel safe talking to. Whether I’m leading worship, helping in student ministry, or just hanging out with my classmates, I try to listen with empathy and show kindness. I believe one of the most powerful ways to reflect Christ is simply by being present and showing people they’re not alone. These experiences have also shaped the way I see my future. My dream has always been to serve in ministry as a worship leader, but now I feel an even deeper sense of purpose. I want to be someone who helps others experience God’s peace in the middle of their struggles. Worship has been my anchor during hard times, and I want to help create that same space for others, a space where people can come just as they are, no matter what they’re carrying, and feel known and loved. I’ve also considered how I might use my platform in ministry to advocate for mental health awareness in the church. I believe that faith and mental health can and should go hand in hand, and I want to be part of a generation that changes the way the Church talks about it. Mental health challenges have not defined me, but they have refined me. They’ve made me more aware of my need for God, more sensitive to the needs of others, and more determined to use my life to serve with authenticity. I’m still learning and growing, but I know this: God can use every part of our story, even the hard parts, for something good. And that gives me hope for the future.

Music has always been more than a passion for me. It’s been a way of life, a form of worship, and a source of strength through every season. I don’t remember a time when music wasn’t a part of who I am. From growing up in a small church where my dad was the worship pastor to stepping into my school’s choir program as a young sixth grader, music has shaped my identity and helped me discover my calling. At first, I joined the choir simply because I loved to sing. I didn’t know then how much it would impact my confidence and direction in life. Over the past seven years, being a part of both chorale and jazz choir, taking on leadership roles like section leader and vice president of our choir council, and building meaningful relationships with directors and classmates has helped me grow tremendously. I’ve learned how to lead others with humility, how to blend voices into one sound, and how music can bring people together in ways that words can’t always do. One of the most significant turning points for me was when I began leading worship at church. It was in those moments, standing in front of my peers, helping create an atmosphere where people could connect with God, that I realized music was more than just something I enjoyed. It was the way God was calling me to serve. Worship is where my love for music and my love for the Lord come together, and it has completely transformed how I view my purpose. I’ve come to understand that worship isn’t about performance. It’s about connection and creating space for people to experience the presence of God. After graduating from high school, I plan to pursue a degree in worship leadership at a Christian university. My goal is to become a full-time worship leader. I want to continue developing my skills in music, theology, and ministry so I can lead with excellence. I also have a dream of writing and releasing original worship music, and maybe one day starting a business that combines creativity with faith, like a clothing brand that shares the gospel through design. Beyond that platform, I want to mentor the next generation of worship leaders. I’ve been blessed with amazing role models, choir directors, church leaders, and mentors who have believed in me and pushed me to grow. I want to do the same for others. Whether it’s through church, missions, or everyday interactions, I want to use my voice and influence to point people to something greater than themselves. Music has given me so much: confidence, direction, community, and a sense of purpose. Most importantly, it has given me a way to serve God and others. As I look ahead to college and beyond, I’m excited not just for the opportunities to perform or lead, but for the chance to make a real difference. My story has always been shaped by music, and I know that wherever God leads me next, it will continue to be the soundtrack of the life I’m called to live.

Furthering my education is incredibly important to me because it represents not just a step toward achieving my goals, but a chance to grow into the person God is calling me to be. I believe we are each given gifts and passions for a reason, and pursuing higher education in music is how I plan to develop mine. A college education will give me the knowledge and growth I need to serve others, lead well, and honor God with my life. My dream is to become a worship leader, someone who guides others in their faith through music, service, and discipleship. Music has always been more than just a hobby for me. It’s the way I connect most deeply with God and others. From the moment I stepped into a choir room as a shy middle schooler, I knew music would be a part of my life forever. Over the years, being in choir and leading worship at my church has taught me confidence, leadership, teamwork, and the joy of bringing people together through song. Worship, in particular, has shown me how music can create space for people to encounter God in powerful ways. It’s not just about singing, it’s about serving and connecting. Music has also been my greatest comfort in times of struggle. My family went through a major shift recently when my dad, who had always been a worship pastor, changed careers. This was a difficult transition for all of us, both emotionally and financially. It was during that time that I leaned on worship more than ever. Singing songs of hope and faith reminded me that even in uncertainty, God is still present. Leading worship at church gave me a sense of purpose and peace when everything else felt overwhelming. Music has always been my way of processing emotions and remembering that I’m not alone. Another moment that deeply impacted me was going on a mission trip to El Salvador. There, I saw firsthand how music can transcend language and cultural barriers. I remember being in a worship service with kids who didn’t speak English, yet we all sang together, united by a common faith and a shared love for music. That experience showed me that worship is universal. It has the power to connect people and to give hope, even in the hardest places. I want to dedicate my life to that kind of impact, and I know college will equip me to do that. I want to grow in my understanding of worship, refine my musical abilities, and learn how to lead others in a way that points them to Christ. With the foundation of my faith, the passion I have for music, and the support of a strong education, I believe I can make a difference in the world. That’s why furthering my education is so important to me. It’s not just about a degree, it’s about answering the call God has placed on my life.

Music has always been more than a hobby or creative outlet. It’s my passion and my lifeline. In moments of chaos, anxiety, and heartbreak, music has been my place to breathe. It’s how I’ve processed emotions and made sense of the world around me. I’ve always connected with the quote, “When words fail, music speaks.” In many seasons, music was the only way I could be honest and vulnerable without fear of judgment. It’s become a reflection of both my pain and healing, not just a note I sing or a chord I play, but an essential part of who I am. Music, to me, means freedom, connection, growth, and expression. I believe music can bring clarity and connection to a world that often feels divided and overwhelmed. That’s why I’m so passionate about worship music. Worship creates a space where people can connect with God and find peace and joy that transcends circumstances. As a future worship leader, I want to invite others into those sacred moments, where they feel safe to reflect, be honest, and heal. My goal is to use music not only to inspire, but to spark wonder, stir emotions, and build meaningful dialogue between people and their Creator. My musical journey has been shaped by both life experiences and creative influences. Loss, heartbreak, and growth have given me a deeper understanding of the human condition and brought emotional depth to my work. At the same time, studying jazz for the past three years has expanded my technical ability and creative flexibility. Jazz has taught me how to improvise, listen intently, and express emotion with honesty and artistry. I’m deeply inspired by artists who blend poetry, melody, and real-life emotion to create more than just music, they create an experience. Their work encourages me to write and perform music that’s raw and personal, drawing from my own story to help others reflect on theirs. My faith is the foundation of my artistic vision. I believe the ability to lead, perform, and connect through music is a gift from God, given not just for my benefit but to serve others. I want to use that gift to shine light in dark places, to build community, and to grow God’s kingdom. I’m also deeply grateful for the mentors, worship leaders, pastors, teachers, and friends who have spoken life into me. Their support reminds me that this calling is not just about talent. It’s about heart, humility, and impact. Through a career in music and worship, I want to offer something honest and lasting, something that brings healing, stirs faith, and reminds people they are not alone. I believe my art can help create a more compassionate and connected world.

Choir has been the most important opportunity for me in becoming the person I am today and in forming my goals and aspirations for the future. When I joined choir it was just because I had a simple liking for singing, I never imagined it could become something I’m so passionate about. As a member of both chorale and jazz choir at my school, as well as the alto section leader and vice president of the choir council, I’ve learned important lessons in leadership, grown my knowledge of music, and made deep relationships with my directors, my classmates, and the art form itself. Being involved in many different aspects of choir has been so beneficial to me because of the way I’ve been able to grow my skills while also contributing to the musical community. As a chorale member, I’ve honed my technique, improved my sight-reading, and learned the importance of blending my voice with others. In jazz choir, I have been challenged to step outside my comfort zone by learning improvisation and embracing the spontaneity and creativity of the genre. As vice president of the choir council, I worked closely with the director and council members to organize events, fundraisers, and “team bonding activities”. This leadership role has taught me how to manage responsibilities in a busy season, communicate effectively with others, and help motivate and inspire others towards a shared goal. The skills that I’ve learned through my experiences in choir have had a profound impact on my personal growth. My friends and directors' confidence in me and constant encouragement has helped me to develop a much greater confidence in myself, especially in auditions and opportunities that I may have initially been too nervous to try out for or be a part of. Preparing for auditions and solos has taught me perseverance and how to push past self-doubt. I've learned that success doesn’t come easily, and every rejection or setback is an opportunity for growth and a way I can rely on God and trust his plan for my life. I'm so extremely grateful for the amazing community that choir has given me. I have made some of my best friends through this program and there is nothing more inspiring than watching your friends succeed and being able to encourage them in their abilities. The choir community has become like a second family to me where we support each other not only musically but personally. These friendships mean so much to me and provide motivation and encouragement, especially during difficult times, and reinforce the importance of collaboration and mutual respect. I owe my choir directors everything for encouraging me to be on the worship team at church and to audition for honor choirs and always being there for me when I’m going through anything in my personal life. My directors have always inspired me and pushed me to be the best performer and person I can possibly be and most importantly to be able to connect the music to who I am as a person. Perhaps the most significant impact choir has had on me is in shaping my future aspirations. I never would have believed in myself enough to join the worship team if my choir directors hadn’t poured into me in that specific area and encouraged me to combine my love for music with my desire to serve others spiritually and worship God. Choir taught me that music has the power to inspire, uplift, and connect people in profound ways and has given me the confidence to pursue the calling God has put in my heart.

Throughout my years of school, I have been actively involved in a variety of extracurricular activities, striving to balance academic excellence with personal growth and community service. I believe that true excellence is not just about achieving success but also about using my talents and opportunities to uplift others. Whether in music, athletics, or leadership, I am committed to giving my best effort every day and consistently seeking ways to give back to my community. One of my greatest passions is music, and my involvement in my school’s choir program has played an important role in shaping who I am today. Through chorale and jazz choir, I have explored multiple musical genres, growing not only as a musician but also as a leader and a more confident person. Serving as Vice President of Choir Council has given me the chance to mentor younger students, organize events, and contribute to a community that has given so much to me. Music has also been a way for me to connect with others and bring joy to others around me. Leadership and service are central to who I am. I am honored to serve in multiple leadership roles, including as an officer on my school’s Senior Board, Vice President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a member of organizations like National Honor Society, Student Council, and the International Thespian Society. These roles allow me to lead by example, encouraging my fellow students to strive for excellence while also giving back to our school and local community through service projects and events. Through National Honor Society, I have spent many hours serving my school, church, and local community. However, one of the most transformative experiences of my life was a mission trip to El Salvador last year. This trip opened my eyes to the profound impact of service and reinforced my commitment to helping those in need. Through two organizations, Mission to El Salvador and CCI, we engaged in various acts of service, including leading Bible studies, preparing meals, assisting with building repairs and forming meaningful relationships with people in need. One particularly impactful experience was working with the New Dawn Program, which helps teen boys recover from addiction. Connecting with these boys, listening to their stories, playing games, and singing songs together was incredibly inspiring. Despite language barriers, we formed genuine bonds through music and shared experiences. Another unforgettable moment was distributing meals to the homeless, a humbling experience that gave me a new perspective on gratitude and privilege. This mission trip also took me to a children’s camp in the mountains, where I helped train leaders and lead activities for middle school girls. Even through extreme heat, sleep deprivation, and unfamiliar surroundings, I embraced every moment as an opportunity to grow and serve. The experience solidified my desire to dedicate my life to helping others, whether through small daily acts of kindness or larger missions that create lasting change. Excellence, to me, is about pushing myself to be the best version of myself while using my skills and passions to serve others. My experiences in music, leadership, and service have shaped my character and deepened my commitment to making a difference. Whether in the choir room or across the world, I want to exemplify a spirit of excellence in everything I do, knowing that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a profound impact.

Throughout my years in tennis, I have learned so many things. Tennis has been so much more than just a sport or extracurricular activity for me; it’s been a journey of growth and resilience. All the time that I have spent on the courts has taught me valuable lessons in teamwork, motivation, and perseverance. These lessons have helped to shape the way I approach challenges, both in tennis and in my everyday life. One of the most important lessons tennis has taught me is how to be resilient and positive. There are countless times when my matches haven’t gone as planned. I’ve lost way more matches than I’ve won. But when serves fall short, volleys go way out, or the other team’s skill seems overwhelming, those are the moments where being positive and pushing through have paid off the most. This mindset extends far beyond tournaments and practices because it’s not only taught me to stay positive in moments where I may be exhausted or discouraged but also to stay focused on the game and communicate with my doubles partner no matter if the game is going our way or not. Recently, I faced an unexpected challenge when I injured my foot at a tournament. At first, the injury was extremely frustrating. It’s my senior year and I was worried that this injury would keep me from playing the rest of the season. I felt like I was letting my team, my partner, and myself down. However, this experience has helped me use the same lessons I’ve learned from tennis off the court as well. Just as I would in a tough match, I had to adapt, stay patient, and stay focused on recovery. This injury was not part of my plan for my final season of tennis, but it helped me to remember that setbacks are a part of any journey, and how I respond to them defines who I am as a person. Tennis has also shaped my future by teaching me the value of discipline and hard work. The hours spent at practice, private lessons, at tournaments, and watching my teammates play have instilled a strong work ethic in me that has helped me to keep a strong GPA as well as balance many different extracurriculars throughout my years in high school. My dedication for the sport is something I carry into all areas of my life. Ultimately, tennis has taught me that success is not about winning but about how we handle all the challenges we face along the way. Whether on the tennis court or in life, I know that determination, hard work, resilience, and positivity are important values to retain throughout my entire life.

At the age of six, I accepted Christ into my heart. Growing up in a small Baptist church where my dad served as the worship pastor, I experienced the early stages of faith through baptism and participating in church activities. At that time, I understood the significance of my actions, but I hadn’t fully grasped the depth of what it meant to have a personal relationship with Christ. It wasn’t until I moved to Oklahoma in sixth grade and began attending BattleCreek Church that my faith really began to grow. At BattleCreek, I was introduced to a youth group where I experienced a church environment unlike any I had been to before. I began to understand what it meant to have a personal relationship with God. It was through this newfound understanding that I began to feel God’s calling on my life, specifically in worship leadership. Over the years, this calling has only deepened, and I am endlessly grateful. Through my years in high school, I have realized how invested I am in leading others to do great things, especially through worship. Worship is more than just music; it is a means of expressing our love for God and drawing people closer to Him. I have had the privilege of leading worship in various church settings, and I have seen firsthand the power of music to transform hearts and bring people together in fellowship. This is why I have decided to pursue a career in worship leadership, to impact the world by creating an environment where people can encounter God in a personal way. I believe my main purpose in life is to lead others to Christ. God has blessed me with leadership skills, compassion for others, and the ability to connect with people through music. God has called me to use my musical talents and leadership skills to help build His kingdom and spread His message of hope. I have come to appreciate how crucial my relationship with Christ is, not just as a source of strength but as a guide for the future. Through the stressful process of searching for the right college and making plans for the next chapter, I have leaned on my faith, knowing that no matter what school I choose, it will be a part of God’s plan for me. This gives me a sense of peace and the confidence that I will continue to grow spiritually and personally no matter where I go. As I look toward college, I am excited about the opportunities to continue to grow in my faith, develop my leadership abilities, and deepen my understanding of worship ministry. In the future, I envision myself using my role as a worship leader to not only guide people in worship but also to mentor and equip the next generation of leaders. Whether through church ministry, community service, or international missions, I hope to use my influence to help others find their purpose in Christ and inspire them to lead lives that reflect His love and truth. My faith has always been the foundation of who I am, and I am committed to making a lasting difference by sharing the light of God with those around me.

When I first walked into the choir room, a timid 11-year-old girl, I had no idea of the impact this “elective” would have on my life. After 7 years in the choir program at my school, I can honestly say choir has been the most important experience for me in becoming the person I am today and forming my goals for the future. I initially joined choir simply because I liked to sing and wanted to use the talents God gave me. I never imagined it could become something I’m so passionate about. As a member of both the chorale and jazz choir, as well as alto section leader and vice president of our choir council, I’ve learned important leadership lessons, grown my knowledge of music, and formed deep relationships with my directors and classmates. Being involved in various choir roles has expanded my musical abilities and allowed me to contribute meaningfully to the community. My experience in chorale has helped me refine my vocal technique, improve sight-reading skills, and learn to blend my voice with others. In jazz choir, I have been challenged to step outside my comfort zone by learning improvisation and embracing the creativity of different genres of music. As vice president of choir council, I work closely with the choir director and council members to organize events and team bonding activities. This leadership role has taught me how to manage responsibilities, communicate effectively, and motivate others toward common goals. Through these experiences, my confidence has grown tremendously. The encouragement from my directors and peers has inspired me to take on challenges I once avoided, such as auditions and solos. I’ve learned that growth often comes through perseverance, and each setback has strengthened my trust in God’s plan for my life. The sense of community within the choir has been one of the most meaningful aspects of my journey. I have made some of my best friends through this program, and there is nothing more inspiring than supporting my friends in their successes. Our choir has become a second family, where we offer both musical and personal support. My directors have been instrumental in encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone, whether auditioning for honor choirs or joining the worship team at my church. They have shown me how music can connect deeply with who I am and how to use my talents to serve others. Choir has ultimately shaped my aspirations for the future. I have been inspired to pursue a degree in music with the goal of becoming a worship minister. I never would have believed in myself enough to pursue music ministry if it weren’t for the support of my directors and choir community. Choir taught me that music can encourage and connect people in powerful ways, and it has given me the confidence to follow the calling God has put in my heart to serve others through music and worship.

From a young age, I have been captivated by the power of music—the way it has the ability to connect people, evoke deep emotions, and foster a sense of community. For me, music has always been more than just a passion; it is a form of worship, a language that transcends words and touches the soul. As I look toward my future, my dream is to pursue a degree in Music and Worship, with the goal of becoming a worship leader. Through this path, I aspire not only to deepen my musical skills but also to serve my community, inspire others, and use my gifts to honor God. The decision to pursue a degree in Music and Worship is rooted in both my personal faith journey and my belief in the transformative power of music in worship settings. Throughout my life, I have experienced the profound impact that music can have on people's hearts—whether it’s lifting someone’s spirit in a time of despair or uniting a congregation in moments of joy. Being involved in worship teams and leading musical projects at my church has shown me the importance of creating an environment where people can encounter God through music. I have found fulfillment in being part of a team that serves others, and I want to develop the skills to lead worship effectively and meaningfully. The academic side of music, combined with the ministry aspect of worship, offers me a perfect blend of personal passion and vocational purpose. I believe that a structured program in Music and Worship will equip me with the theological, musical, and leadership knowledge needed to guide and inspire others in their spiritual journeys. Beyond my academic achievements, I have been actively involved in extracurricular activities, particularly those that align with my passion for music and service. As a member of the school’s choir, I have performed in numerous concerts and events, and I have also volunteered as a student leader in the church youth band. These experiences have taught me the importance of collaboration, time management, and adaptability—skills that are essential for any leader. I have also taken on leadership roles in other areas of my life, such as serving as a mentor for younger students and volunteering at local events and outreach programs. These experiences have not only shaped my character but also given me a sense of responsibility to serve others and to use my skills for the greater good. In conclusion, my goal to pursue a degree in Music and Worship is driven by a deep-seated passion for music, a calling to serve others, and a desire to lead in a way that honors God and uplifts others. The financial support provided by this scholarship would be a crucial step in helping me achieve that goal. I am confident that my academic achievements, leadership experiences, and commitment to service make me a strong candidate for this opportunity. By investing in me, you would be helping me to invest in my community, in the church, and in the lives of those who will experience the power of worship through music. I am excited for the opportunity to continue my education, deepen my faith, and pursue a career in worship leadership. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the chance to contribute to the legacy of service and leadership in the field of worship.
