My personal plans revolve around a strong determination to create a positive difference in the lives of students, particularly those with emotional and educational needs. I am currently pursuing a degree in secondary education with minors in history, military history, and psychology. With this combination of studies, I aim to be a well-rounded teacher capable of fostering the intellectual and emotional growth of my students. My ultimate goal is to be a high school history teacher, using the stories of the past to help students better comprehend themselves, their communities, and the world they inhabit. History is a process that entails more than the memorization of facts and dates—it is a lens through which we examine human actions, resilience, mistakes, and triumphs. I would love to bring history to life in a way that will provoke curiosity, critical thinking, and empathy. In addition to teaching, I hope to be an advocate for mental health within the school system. Through my psychology minor and personal experiences with depression and anxiety, I understand how crucial it is that schools be attending to students' mental health. I plan to acquire more certifications in trauma-informed education and youth mental health so that I may assist students who may be suffering in silence more effectively. Long term, my dream is to create a nonprofit agency that grants or provides scholarship and emotional support services to needy students who are battling mental health problems. I want to create a platform where teenagers realize they are not alone and that their future does not depend on their current challenges. Receiving this scholarship would be an enormous help in being able to accomplish these goals. As a full-time student, financial worry is an all too frequent hindrance. Scholarships allow me to focus more intensely on my studies, fieldwork, and personal growth without the constant burden of having to worry about tuition and other expenses. This assistance would also allow me to pursue professional development workshops, conferences, and training sessions that will enhance my knowledge and equip me to be the best teacher and advocate possible. Other than the financial support, success in this scholarship would be a validation of my dream and a reminder that individuals think I can do something to improve their lives. It would serve as a source of inspiration in continuing to work hard, study, and build a future that is based on empathy, education, and advocacy. I am committed to paying forward—with my degree, to my students, my community, and to anyone who ever felt invisible or unheard. And through the support of this scholarship, I can take meaningful steps toward that future, equipped with the tools, the knowledge, and the confidence to create a lasting impact.

One of the most significant things that I hope to create is a nonprofit that helps students with mental health issues and financial support to continue their studies. This is a very personal aspiration for me, as it is inspired by my own experience of fighting anxiety and depression. I fought in secret for years, feeling that I did not know how to seek assistance or if I even qualified for it. The transformation occurred when teachers and mentors who had faith in me stood by me. They helped me recuperate not just from illness but also pushed me to be a person I could return the same to. Now, a major in secondary education with minors in history, military history, and psychology, I'm being prepared to be a teacher who works with students both intellectually and emotionally. But I wish to do more than can be accomplished within the confines of one classroom. I hope to establish a nonprofit with scholarships for students struggling with mental health issues, as well as things such as counseling, mentorship, and emotional wellness workshops. I wish for all students to understand that they do not have to compromise their education for their mental health. This company would be an expression of my belief that all students need to feel seen, supported, and empowered to succeed. It would be where adolescents can find hope, belonging, and possibility. It would not only be a means for me to leave a mark, but it would also turn my own suffering into something powerful and purposeful. In creating this nonprofit, I hope to improve as a leader, advocate, and educator. As a result of the experience, I will be compelled to work in collaboration with others, learn from different perspectives, and create programs that are long-term and meet real needs within the community. Most importantly, it will allow me to be part of something larger than myself—something that can flow outward and generate lasting impact. In establishing this organization, I envision establishing a future where mental health is prioritized and education is a right that all are entitled to. It's a dream that started in poverty but will continue to grow from a place of hope. And I am committed to seeing that hope become a reality.
    Kalia D. Davis Memorial Scholarship
My name is Emma Romayko, and I am pursuing a secondary education degree with minors in history, military history, and psychology. My educational journey has been guided by personal challenges, supportive mentors, and an internal drive to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people. I am committed to creating learning environments where students are emotionally and academically safe, respected, and empowered. School was a refuge for me most of the time that I was growing up, particularly when I was struggling to navigate my own mental health issues. I was anxious and depressed as a child, and I lacked words and resources to explain what I was going through for a lot of years. I managed to make it through because of the help of a couple of very understanding teachers. Their belief in me changed the direction of my life and motivated me to become a career individual in which I was that same wellspring of motivation and stability for other people. My military and historical background will allow me to explore the complexities of the human experience and apply those lessons to a future classroom of learners. I believe history is more than dates and events, but rather an amazing vehicle for teaching critical thinking, empathy, and cultural literacy. My minor in psychology also helps me better connect with students, allowing me to understand adolescent growth and the importance of holding mental and emotional stability in the classroom. This scholarship will help me significantly in continuing my education and furthering my aspirations. Being a college student, financial anxiety is a reality and ongoing concern. The receipt of this scholarship would alleviate some of that monetary stress, allowing me to study, obtain field experience, and pursue professional development. It would also allow me to pursue additional certifications and workshops that would broaden my teaching credentials and allow me to better serve my potential students. Outside the classroom, I will be more influential by creating a nonprofit organization that will assist students with mental health problems. My intention is to give scholarships and support to teenagers who, just like me, have found themselves struggling but are determined to pursue their aspirations. I wish to create a mechanism of support that fosters resilience and offers chances for those who feel like they are plodding their ways alone. Acceptance of this scholarship would not only fund my studies, but would also confirm the aspirations and values that guide me. It would be a step towards becoming the teacher, advocate, and role model that I am hoping to be. I am committed to using the learning and experience I acquire to empower others, build inclusive learning communities, and use education as a tool for hope and possibility in the lives of all students I encounter. Thank you for reviewing my application. With your assistance, I can keep working toward a future where every student will feel empowered to learn, grow, and believe in themselves.
    Reimagining Education Scholarship
If I had to create a course that all students in K-12 would take, it would be called "Foundations of Emotional Intelligence and Mental Wellbeing." The course would cover the education of students in learning about, controlling, and expressing emotions in a healthy manner, and how to build empathy, resilience, communication skills, and self-awareness. In a time when mental illness is more common and ill-defined, making students ready for the capacity to manage their own emotional health is good—it's necessary. The course would be introduced in suitable age groups, beginning with simple emotional recognition and expression during elementary school grades, and gradually moving towards more complex problems such as stress management, mindfulness, resolving conflicts, and controlling emotions by high school. Mental health would be introduced just like physical health, so it would no longer be stigmatized but encourage the students to seek help when in need. With the combination of psychological and social-emotional learning aspects, this course would teach students how to deal with life's highs and lows graciously and well. They would go through guided discussions, journaling, team learning, and role-playing exercises to help them recognize others and their own feelings. From the knowledge of how to influence feelings and behaviors through cognition, students would be able to understand themselves better and how to build worthwhile, respectful relationships. The impact of this class would be significant. It would, above all else, make mental health discussions a normalized aspect of life at a young age. Students would grow up with the understanding that what they were feeling was real, it was okay to seek help, and to seek help is a sign of strength, not a sign of weakness. This initial instruction could be the very key to constraining the incidence of anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions that all too often go undetected until late adulthood. Also, this course would be helpful in raising a more empathetic and emotionally smart generation. By teaching students to listen attentively, settle disputes peacefully, and value diverse views, the class would help create safer, more inclusive school environments. Bullying, isolation, and miscommunication typically stem from insufficient emotional acuity; this course would directly address those root causes. The benefits would also extend to the classroom. Students who are well-supported emotionally will be more likely to learn, manage stress, and perform well in school. Emotional intelligence is linked with more motivation, improved problem-solving, and better decision-making—traits that are valuable not just in school, but in life. As a person who has grappled with mental health issues, I understand how life-changing it is to possess the language, tools, and assistance to navigate those moments. This class would ensure no student would ever have to navigate those moments in solitude. It would help in creating an environment in which compassion and understanding are the standard, and where emotional well-being is afforded the same significance as academic achievement. Finally, "Foundations of Emotional Intelligence and Mental Wellness" would provide students with lifelong skills. Not only would it enable them to thrive at school, but continue on to be reflective, resilient, and emotionally healthy individuals who are well-placed to make a more caring and connected world.

Growing up, I was intrigued by the idea of becoming a teacher. There was something powerful in the position teachers had to shape lives, not just to impart knowledge, but to offer direction, inspiration, and stability. With the passage of years, that early curiosity blossomed into a deep and abiding passion for learning. Now, with a major in secondary education and minors in history, military history, and psychology, I am committed to being a teacher who makes an enduring difference in students' lives. I became interested in a teaching career because of both personal experience and a sense of calling. I loved learning my entire life, but it was the teachers who saw and heard me that actually stoked my fire for learning. Teaching isn't just a job to me—it is a vocation to help the forming of young minds, to challenge them academically, and to guide them through some of the most formative years of their life. One of the instructors who changed my life is my high school English teacher. When I was struggling with depression and anxiety at a low moment in my life, her classroom was my safe haven. She paid attention to whether I was having a bad day, checked in with me when others did not, and created an environment in which I knew I was valued. Her kindness and compassion helped me through some of my worst times, and she showed me the type of impact one compassionate adult can have. She did not just teach literature—she taught me that I mattered. That experience remains one of the leading reasons I want to become a teacher. I hope to be that consistent, compassionate presence in the lives of my students—individual who not only helps them achieve academically but also makes them know they never have to face anything alone. My background in psychology will allow me to understand the affective and developmental goals of adolescents, while my love of history will allow me to bring real and engaging content into the classroom. I am committed to educating the whole student: cultivating curiosity, grit, and empathy alongside content knowledge and critical thinking. I also strive to create inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments. Students come to us with differing strengths and challenges from a range of backgrounds, and I want every student who comes into my classroom to feel valued and empowered. I view teaching as a relationship-based profession, and it is through relationships that engaging learning and development can take place. Someday, I want to extend beyond the classroom and promote mental health awareness in schools and create a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and assistance to students navigating mental health challenges. Teaching is the foundation of that dream, and every step I am taking along my educational path is preparing me to bring it to fruition. Lastly, I am going into teaching because I want to be the kind of teacher who changes lives—the way my teacher once changed mine. It would be an honor to pay forward the legacy of those who believed in me by believing in my future students.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
My experience with mental health has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. It has shaped not only how I view myself but how I relate to other people and how I map out my future. Struggling with anxiety and depression has taught me about vulnerability, strength, empathy, and the importance of authentic connection. These are things that have profoundly impacted my dreams, my relationships, and my understanding of the world. I quietly struggled with my mental health for years. I was overcome with feelings that I could not explain, and I often felt as if I had to hide my struggle in an effort to be strong. The inner struggle reached into all areas of my life—from how I academically performed to how I viewed myself in relationships. I felt like I was always struggling to meet invisible standards, even as I quietly broke apart internally. But as I began to receive help, attend therapy, and surround myself with positive people, I slowly started to see a path forward. This experience with mental health has effectively changed my ambitions. Although I have always been passionate about education, my experience gave that ambition new meaning and purpose. I decided to major in secondary education and minor in history, military history, and psychology because I want to be the kind of teacher that knows what is going on with students on a more personal level. I have been the student who sits in the class, who looks good on the outside but is hurting on the inside. My goal is to create a classroom environment where all students feel seen, valued, and cared for—academically as well as emotionally. Mental health has also ignited a bigger dream: to start a nonprofit organization that supports students who are dealing with mental health and need financial assistance for schooling. I envision the world where no student is held back from realizing their potential because they feel unsupported or unseen. I would love to provide both resources and scholarships, giving the student the chance to thrive despite the obstacles they have been faced with. This project is not hypothetical for me—it is personal. I have experienced firsthand the pain of feeling lost and alone, and I never want anyone else to have to go without having someone who believes in them. My mental health journey has also significantly affected my relationships. I isolated myself before, believing that I was a burden on others. But slowly I realized that vulnerability is not weakness but the prerequisite to meaningful relationships. By being open about my own struggles, I have been able to form deeper and more honest relationships with family, friends, and mentors. I have learned to talk more openly, listen more intently, and support others in their struggles. These relationships have not only seen me through the difficult times but also taught me the value of caring and understanding each other. Studying mental health has changed my perspective on the world. I see people more patiently and understandingly now. I understand that we are all battling things we cannot see, and that a little kindness can go a long way. This understanding informs the way I want to engage with students, colleagues, and my community. I want to be the one who meets others with compassion and offers safe spaces to grow and heal. Additionally, my studies in psychology have enriched this understanding, adding vocabulary and understanding of how the brain processes, how trauma affects learning, and how support systems can have a life-changing effect. I apply this knowledge to my academic and personal life, and it strengthens my passion to be a teacher who perceives students as complete individuals. There are still days when anxiety or depression wins out. But instead of seeing those times as failures, I now see them as reminders of my strength. I have learned to survive, to ask for help, and to grant myself grace. This resilience is what I wish to model for my students—not because I want them to suffer, but because I want them to know that they are not alone should they suffer. Finally, my mental health experience has given me a clearer sense of purpose and a deeper wellspring of empathy. It has shaped my ambition to include not only intellectual success but emotional support. It has deepened my connections by teaching me the power of vulnerability. And it has changed my view of the world, urging me to interact with others through kindness, patience, and positivity. I carry these lessons with me every day, and I know they will continue to guide me as I grow into the teacher, advocate, and person I am meant to be.
    Ed and Flora Pellegri Scholarship
Among the most significant battles that I have ever had to battle my life has been the battle of my own mental illness. I battled depression and anxiety for several years and felt like I was drowning and alone amidst feelings that I did not know how to make sense of. The experiences significantly influenced my personal growth and indirectly my decision to become a teacher. School was both a haven and fight at some of my darkest moments. No matter how tough classes were it was the empathy and tolerance of some outstanding teachers that really made a difference in my life. They saw past me, encouraged me to keep going, and allowed me to feel accepted for the very first time in my life. Their support did not take away the struggles, but it gave a stage upon which to gain strength. Their presence in my life demonstrated the kind of influence a teacher can have and motivated me to walk in their footsteps. It was a battle with mental illness that taught me empathy, compassion, and mentorship—achievements I now carry with me to all parts of my journey to becoming an educator. I acquired secondary education and majored in history, military history, and psychology since I would wish to be within an environment where I would be able to help students not just academically but emotionally as well. I know firsthand how much of a difference it makes for youth when they have mentors that see they are worth something, especially during moments of exposure. My degree in history gives me the ability to teach students how the past impacts the future and lives on today, and my psychology degree gives me insight to study more about adolescent emotional development. My own challenges have also led me to become a voice for more mental awareness in schools. I plan to create a learning environment where students are heard, noticed, and where they are encouraged to ask for help. I would be pleased to have a learning community where mistakes are an integral part of the process and where students are told that their mental and emotional well-being is just as important as their grades. Someday, I would like to take this vision out of my classroom and into the community through the establishment of a nonprofit organization that awards scholarships and mental health counseling to those who need it. Fighting the demons of mental illness has also taught me resilience, self-knowledge, and a fierce determination of purpose. It has made me a man committed to being a difference-maker, particularly for students who are isolated. My work is not just about delivering information; it's about building bridges, encouraging growth, and being a steady, supportive presence in the life of youth. Although my journey hasn't been easy, I am thankful for the perseverance and determination that it has taught me. I carry my struggles with me into the classroom full of hope and resiliency, knowing that riding out difficulties will allow me to be a stronger service to the generation that follows and offer them an uplifter.
    Lieba’s Legacy Scholarship
Being a future secondary teacher with minors in history, military history, and psychology, my professional goals are directed towards building the social-emotional health and cognitive development of all students, gifted students included. Intellectually gifted students most often experience special challenges: socially and emotionally, their needs will be neglected or misread. My goal is to give these students a balanced education that not only broadens their minds but also constructs emotional resilience and self-awareness. One of my greatest professional goals is to create a differentiated, inclusive learning environment in which gifted students are intellectually challenged and emotionally supported. Gifted learners require more demanding interaction and upper-level content, and I plan to satisfy this with advanced courses, independent study, and interdisciplinarity projects that connect history with current affairs. My training in history and military history prepare me to create lesson plans that are greater than textbook, challenging gifted learners to venture beyond into patterns, examine points of view, and formulate meaningful questions. For example, in a leadership-in-war class, students might study strategic wartime decisions made by great leaders and get a sense of moral nuance and psychological impact as well—breaking down mental acuity with emotional intelligence. Of equal concern to me is the social-emotional development of gifted children. Such students sometimes will experience loneliness, anxiety, or stress with the burden of being perfect always. As a certified minor in psychology, I am well positioned to recognize these kinds of issues and approach them with sensitivity and evidence-based practices. Weekly discussions, open classroom discussion about stress and self-esteem, and project work with peers to build teamwork and communication skills will be some of my practices. I want to create a classroom where effort and progression are valued, not flawlessness, where students feel safe to try out their ideas without fear of doing something incorrect. Besides my direct classroom instruction, I would also like to be a voice for more integrated gifted programs in the schools. Gifted students too often find themselves sent to general education classrooms without the differentiation needed of them, or their social-emotional needs go unmet because they are viewed as high-functioning students. I would like to conclude that by working with school administrators and peers on social-emotional learning and giftedness training. I also hope one day to be a part of the movement of curriculum design or policy-making that puts an emphasis on intellectual stimulation as much as on emotional well-being in gifted children. It is my intention to begin a nonprofit that scholarships and educates students, particularly those who are daunted by mental health or marginalized in standard school populations. This is because the fact of the matter is that this is something near to my own life and conviction that emotional and intellectual development are parallel. Smarter students, along with all students, are worthy of an opportunity to be exposed to environments where their ability is valued and their humanity honored. Lastly, my professional goals demonstrate a commitment to educating the entire child. I wish for education not only to produce excellent students, but compassionate, emotionally intelligent, and resilient human beings. Gifted kids, with all their incredible potential and unique needs, are owed instructors who consider them not for what they will be, but for who they are. By instilling in them both their intellectual curiosity and emotional courage, I hope to give them the qualities that they will require to succeed at every stage of life.

I am a secondary education major with history, military history, and psychology minors. I am extremely interested in being a well-rounded educator that is able to connect intellectually and personally with students. I want to teach high school, where I can not only educate students with valuable content, but also prepare them to think critically, be empathetic, and resilient. This scholarship will be essential in funding my education and allowing me to accomplish this goal. My passion for teaching stems from the impact teachers have had on my own life. During some of the most challenging times in my life, it was the kindness of words and encouragement of my teachers which inspired me to keep going. Their encouragement made me pursue a career in teaching so that I can be the same source of encouragement for generations to come. I believe that teaching is not simply a function of imparting knowledge, but of building trust and developing the whole student. From my own education, I aim to create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, considers historical context, and honors the intellectual and emotional needs of teens. Minoring in history and military history allows me to bring depth and context to my teaching. Understanding how the events in the past shape current realities is vital in order to assist in developing informed citizens. My minor in psychology complements this by giving me insight into adolescents' cognitive and emotional development. These fields of study together allow me to approach teaching from a whole perspective, where academic achievement and emotional development intersect. This scholarship would help reduce the financial burden of attending school, allowing me to focus even more diligently on my studies and my practicum experiences in the classroom. It would also more likely allow me to earn additional certifications and professional development opportunities, which are so vital to remaining effective and current as an educator. Most importantly, the encouragement from this scholarship would be a reminder that people have faith in my cause as a future educator, and that support means a great deal. In the future, I hope to not only teach, but also advocate mental health awareness in the school system. I envision starting a non-profit company providing scholarships and access to students who are experiencing mental health difficulties. This is personal for me and founded on my own experience, as well as what I've gained from my courses of study in psychology. Education, for me, is an amazing tool for both intellectual growth and healing at a personal level. To receive this scholarship would not only help in funding my education—it would help in building the future I envision for my students. With your assistance, I am enabled to continue working toward becoming an educator who makes a difference in and out of the classroom.

My own well-being has also contributed significantly to my school performance and life as a school student overall. Struggling with depression and anxiety for six years has undoubtedly made some aspects of my schooling more difficult, but it has also been a good educator and taught me the importance of putting my self-care first. Through trial and error, I have learned methods of managing my mental illness and getting along at school while being well enough to work towards my goals without hurting my health. Academically, my own mental health has been one of trial and opportunity too. There have been instances when anxiety has sabotaged getting to classes, or depression has stolen the desire to do homework. Sometimes, self-doubt has overwhelmed my process, making me uncertain despite good effort. But those challenges have also pushed me to become a master time-manager and problem-solver. I have learned to break down tasks into smaller, manageable steps, to seek help when needed, and to remember that my worth is not defined by my academic achievement. These strategies have served me well to remain strong even on difficult days, solidifying my determination for success. Some of the shortcomings that could probably be anticipated include people feeling off for spirituality conversation or even lacking interest in joining the meetup. Before it happens, I shall pray that God will open their hearts and patiently wait, reminding myself that not all the interactions would be such sudden fruits. I will also leave the area open and welcoming so that even the least likely individuals to ever have a desire to talk about spirituality will feel comfortable making connections. To ensure that I keep my mental health as a priority, I have developed several habits that I find absolutely essential. Therapy has been a lifesaver that has provided me with coping mechanisms as well as a safe space to deal with emotions. I also make boundaries in my school work, knowing that burnout is not success. I take breaks from studying, practice mindfulness exercises, and prioritize doing things that I like, such as reading or cooking. By doing so, I am able to keep my own well-being as a priority above my studying and personal commitments. Though mental illness has been a complication of my academic journey, it has also taught me resilience and compassion to persevere. With self-awareness, support, and proactive self-care, I have better managed to balance my obligations while putting myself first. These lessons have not only empowered me but also made me a compassionate individual, and I am resolved to spread the lessons to raise mental health awareness and help others who are going through the same problems.

My experience with mental health has had a profound effect on my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. Struggling with depression and anxiety for six years has been challenging, but it has also taught me more about resilience, empathy, and mental health advocacy. Not only have these experiences shifted my way of thinking, but they have also solidified my resolve to assist others who are facing the same problems. My own mental health has grown exponentially in the process. I used to view my own problems as flaws, something to be concealed or solved in silence. But through self-reflection and therapy, I've come to realize that mental health is as important as physical health. I now believe that it's strength, not weakness, to ask for help, and that openness can heal and bring us together. This change of mind has instilled in me a passion for mental health advocacy because I believe I can make others understand that they are not alone and what they are going through does not define them. My personal relationships have also been significantly impacted by my mental health background. Depression and anxiety at times made it difficult for me to bond with other individuals, and I would be alone. Nevertheless, the impact of friends, family, and role models has shown me the power of genuine connection. I have learned how important open communication is and how valuable it is to have a good support system. As a result, I make every effort to be a place of comfort and support for the people in my life. Whether it is by phoning friends, listening impartially, or just talking about what I have experienced, I attempt to be a sanctuary for those who may need one. My experience with mental health has influenced my career aspirations. I want to become a teacher and work as a professional where I can support students both intellectually and emotionally. School may be a safe haven for some kids, and I would hope that my classroom would be a haven where every student feels safe, respected, and heard. I wish to be such a teacher who not only teaches but also inspires and motivates, as my teachers inspired and motivated me. Outside of school, I intend on establishing a nonprofit that provides scholarships and support to students that suffer from mental illness. Need must never be between a person and education, and I would like to be able to bridge the gap for those who feel trapped with school as well as personal issues. By giving students the opportunity to succeed, I wish to positively and permanently impact their lives and help them reach their potential. Lastly, what I have learned about mental health has made me a more compassionate, a resilient, and a more directed person. It has impacted the way I think about myself, about my relationships, and about the future. While difficult, my experiences have also given me a sense of purpose—utilizing my experiences to serve, to inspire, and to empower others. I am committed to transforming my suffering into a force for good, so that no one ever has to fight alone, and to building a future in which mental health is valued and understood.
    Polish American Women's Scholarship
Maintaining my Polish heritage has always been a closely food-related activity. My dad's family is of Polish origin, and the most authentic way in which we still pay respect to our heritage is by cooking traditional dishes. Cooking and eating is not only a routine—it is a way of preserving our culture and keeping it with us. I have been able to share with my friends the richness of Polish cuisine, and I look forward to the tradition being passed down in my own family. Those hours spent preparing and sharing these meals have shown me that the moments spent sitting at the table are sometimes more meaningful than the words that are spoken. Food is sustenance, but it is also something that connects us to one another, across generations, through stories, and in celebration of identity. Apart from cultural heritage, I am also a mental health advocate. Having experienced anxiety and depression myself, I can identify with the agony of experiencing mental health issues. Through it all, I have gained the motivation to serve others, particularly younger people who may feel like they are alone in their struggle. I pursue this cause actively by speaking about my experiences openly, demystifying it, and working to become an educator. My desire is to establish a friendly learning environment in my new class where students are heard, valued, and supported. I also hope to establish a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to individuals who have mental health challenges so that they can receive education and material that can change their lives. A part of the core recollections of my childhood that shaped my identity was spending time with my family while cooking. The kitchen was a place of laughter, learning, and bonding. I remember standing on a stool alongside my grandmother, watching how effortlessly she prepared pierogi from scratch. She taught me the art of understanding that cooking was not just about a recipe but how you put love into each meal. It taught me a great love of tradition and the realization that the most lasting connections are forged in common experiences. It also taught me that actions typically speak louder than words, a valuable lesson I bring with me into every area of my life. If I could have dinner with any historical or contemporary famous woman, it would be Marie Curie. Not only was she Polish by heritage, but she was also a pioneer in science, overcoming obstacles in a man's world. Her determination and commitment to discovery are admirable. I would ask her, "What made you keep moving forward in the face of what you overcame, and how did you keep believing in your work when no one else believed in you?" Her feedback would be gold in revealing that which I strive to embody within myself: resilience. Through food, through activism, and through real experience, I've come to understand who I am and what I am passionate about. My connection to my Polish roots, my passion for mental health advocacy, and what I was taught by my childhood all merge together to make me who I am. I look forward to living these things out so that I can positively affect the lives of others, just as those who preceded me have left their legacy.

Psychological illness has been a dominant part of my life, shaping my experiences and my aspirations for the future. I have had depression and anxiety for the past six years, which have influenced my lifestyle, relationships, and health. These obstacles have been difficult, at times leaving me at a loss for how to move forward, but they have also been instructive about resilience, compassion, and the importance of mental health awareness. Living with depression and anxiety has at times felt like carrying an invisible weight, one that others cannot necessarily see but that touches every aspect of my life. Simple tasks might feel overwhelming, and the constant battle of self-doubt and inner criticisms might become exhausting. There have been times when I kept myself to myself, believing no one could ever relate to what I was going through. However, through therapy and introspection, I've learned how to manage such obstacles, institute coping measures, and acknowledge that I'm not the only one dealing with such. Mental illness has also come to my family. Seeing loved ones battle their own mental illness wars has been heartbreaking and eye-opening. It has reinforced in my mind that physical and mental health are on par with one another, and no one ought to have to quietly endure. These experiences have caused me to be a mental health advocate, being open about talking and assisting individuals who may be struggling in their own manner. Despite these hardships, I have remained dedicated to my education and my goal to make a positive impact on the world. I plan on becoming a teacher, a role which will allow me to assist students not only academically but emotionally as well. School must be a haven for learners, and I want to have that type of classroom where all the learners feel safe, respected, and nurtured. I want to be that kind of teacher who can tell when a student is struggling and help them determine the resources and help that they need. Other than instruction, my aspirations include establishing a nonprofit organization focused on mental health advocacy and scholarships. No one should ever be denied education due to financial struggles, especially those with mental illness. I hope that with this organization, I will be able to provide assistance to needy students, whether in the form of scholarships, mental health services, or advocacy efforts to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illness. This scholarship would allow me to continue my education and pursue my mission to assist others afflicted by mental illness. Through my experiences, I have been transformed into a compassionate and determined individual, and I am committed to assisting others in finding hope and prosperity through my experience. Mental illness has been a chapter in my life, but it does not define me—it has provided me with the strength and the purpose to leave a mark in other people's lives.
    ADHDAdvisor Scholarship for Health Students
I have tried throughout my life to be a support for those around me who are facing mental health issues, as others have been for me when I was facing my issues. Having dealt with depression and anxiety myself, I know how important a good support system is, alongside compassion and understanding can make. Because of this, I have always strived to be a source of comfort and reassurance to friends, classmates, and anyone struggling with their mental health. One of the means through which I have helped others is by creating space for open and honest conversations on mental health. I do my best to be a non-judgmental listener and instead offer comfort, reminding other individuals that they are not alone. Whether it's reaching out to a friend struggling, giving advice on how to cope that has helped me, or simply being a sanctuary where someone can discuss their feelings, I try to serve as a pillar of support. My passion for mental health advocacy extends beyond personal interactions. I hope to use my education and future career to provide emotional support to those who need it most. As a future educator, I plan to create a classroom environment where students feel valued, understood, and safe. Teachers play a powerful role in students' lives, and I would like to be a teacher who not only teaches but inspires and motivates. By understanding the hardships students might be going through beyond their studies, I want to be a guiding figure who inspires them to take care of themselves and following their aspirations. In addition to workshops, I intend to establish a nonprofit that teaches advocacy and awareness for mental health. My vision is to provide scholarships, resources, and outreach programs that will empower individuals to pursue help, therapy, and education without the burden of money. Mental health should never be the hindrance to success, and I want to make people remember there is hope even in their darkest times. This award would allow me to further my education and increase my ability to serve those who struggle with mental health issues. By furthering my education and reaching my goals, I am able to further spread my efforts toward a more compassionate and empathetic world where no one feels alone on their journey. I will continue to be available to those in need, as others have also been there for me.
    Redefining Victory Scholarship
Success, to me, is not measured by wealth, status, or awards. Rather, it is the power to apply my experiences, knowledge, and passion to make a positive difference in the lives of others. My path has been influenced by tremendous personal struggles, most notably my own battles with mental illness. Depression and anxiety shrouded my world for years, obscuring any sense of a way forward. Nevertheless, through determination, therapy, and self-realization, I have begun reclaiming my life. Today, success for me is being able to turn my suffering into purpose, using my recovery as a means of empowering others and assisting those who are fighting the same war. One of my greatest wishes is to create scholarships and foundations that deal with mental health awareness and support alone. Too often, individuals struggling with mental health problems are isolated, stigmatized, or denied access to the care they need. By developing programs that provide financial aid, education, and emotional support, I seek to bridge the gap between mental health problems and professional or academic success. I hope to guarantee that no student must choose between attending to their own well-being or pursuing their dreams. As a future educator, I also see success in the impact that I will be able to make on my students. I see myself being able to create a friendly and nurturing classroom environment where students feel heard, seen, and empowered. I am aware from personal experience of the significance of having positive role models and instructors who are attuned to the struggles that students face outside of academics. By creating an atmosphere of encouragement and empathy, I plan to instill confidence and perseverance in my students and guide them toward building their own individual success. This scholarship is more than just monetary assistance—it is an opportunity for me to continue my education and be provided with the tools by which to make a positive impact on others in the long term. It will enable me to focus on my education without the paralyzing burden of financial anxiety, so that I can dedicate myself fully to my future vocation and philanthropic activities. With this assistance, I am able to pursue the knowledge and training to be an understanding, effective educator and an advocate for mental health education. In addition to my career aspirations, I also believe that success is self-improvement and continuous self-enrichment. What my mental health journey has taught me is that recovery isn't linear and there will always be setbacks, but it is success in being committed to the journey, taking self-care seriously, and continuing to work towards being the best version of myself. By continuing my own recovery and raising awareness of mental health, I hope to break the stigma of mental illness and create a world where asking for help is met with understanding and support rather than judgment. Success is really about making a difference, no matter how small or large. It is not about my difficulties, but rather using them to create hope for others, something more than I could ever create for myself, and opportunities for those who desperately need them. This scholarship is not only an investment in me, but in the many lives that I pray to impact with my work. With this opportunity, I am closer to fulfilling my dream—making sure that success is not just something that I achieve, but something that I help others to achieve as well.

Throughout my existence, I have always believed that education is the most powerful tool of change. My existence has been characterized by my mental illness, strength, and an unwavering desire to make a difference. I have endured tremendous adversity, having battled depression and anxiety for six years, but I have never let them characterize me. Instead, however, these experiences have served to increase my commitment to serve others and to be a source of beneficial change within my community. I am entering into the field of education as a result of the enormous impact my teachers have had upon my life. They guided me through some of the hardest experiences I have ever endured, and I desire to do likewise for future students. I want to create an environment in which students feel safe, valued, and able to do their best. School is not merely about education—it's about bringing out potential, building strength, and empowering individuals with confidence. I will be a committed educator to the extent that I advocate for my students, empower them to believe in their abilities, and motivate them to do their dreams. Outside the classroom, I would like to create a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships for different causes. Financial obstacles usually stand in the way of students receiving the education they are entitled to, and I wish to bridge that gap. By providing opportunities for students who might otherwise be unable to afford higher education, I hope to provide them with an opportunity to achieve their full potential. My non-profit organization would focus on assisting students from underprivileged backgrounds, mentally ill students, and students who have demonstrated resilience in overcoming adversity. Philanthropy is a part of who I am. I have volunteered and been a mentor, providing tutoring and emotional support to younger students. I believe small acts of kindness and encouragement can have a ripple effect, encouraging others to act in the same way. Through building a culture of support and understanding, I hope to help build a world where individuals feel heard, seen, and enabled to pursue their aspirations. This scholarship would be priceless in helping me fulfill my dreams. It would help me focus on my studies without the constant looming threat of economic strain, which would give me more time to hone my craft as a budding educator. Most importantly, it would affirm my belief that my dreams are not mere fantasies and are within reach. With this assistance, I am able to continue working towards my goal of making education more accessible and building a future in which every student, no matter their background, can thrive. In summary, I am passionate about using my education and experiences to make a positive difference. Through teaching, mentorship, and my future nonprofit organization, I would like to inspire and uplift those around me and create change within my community. This award not only invests in my own future but also in the many lives I seek to touch with my efforts. I am ready to meet whatever challenges are before me, realizing that each step leads me toward being able to leave a lasting mark on this world.

Excellence is not just individual achievement; it is striving to have high expectations in everything I do and aiming to inspire those around me. Every day, I strive to be the best that I can be—academically, personally, or in my contribution to society. I believe that living a spirit of excellence requires commitment, integrity, and passion for lifelong learning, and I aim to live these values every day. One of the key means by which I showcase excellence is through my dedication to learning. I am also confident in my scholarly work, consistently doing more than is required of me so that I can better understand and become engaged with the material. Whether through good study habits, looking for additional materials, or collaborating with others, I attempt not only to perform well academically but to develop a better appreciation for learning. This is the same mind set that I will carry over into my life as a teacher, where I would like to impart the same passion for learning to my students and inspire them to reach their potential. Apart from personal achievement, I believe excellence also includes giving back to society. My long-term plan is to develop a nonprofit entity whose purpose would be to provide scholarships to other causes. I myself am aware of the difference that financial assistance can bring about in a student's capacity to pursue their dreams, and I want to give opportunities to those who may otherwise not be in a position to pay for higher education. By alleviating financial burdens, I want to make it possible for students to focus on their education and future aspirations. Today, I already contribute in various ways, whether through activism, volunteering, or mentorship. I volunteer and actively participate in initiatives benefiting local students and giving them tutoring and counselling to those who need special attention. It keeps me motivated, witnessing firsthand how my efforts make a difference and impact others directly. I also endeavor to enable transparency and access to education for underprivileged pupils, knowing that all should have the same opportunities to succeed. As a new teacher, I will provide my students with more than mere academic direction but also mentorship and modeling. I plan to create a warm, welcoming, and supportive learning environment in my classroom by being caring and excellent. With leadership that is compassionate and excellent, I believe that I can motivate students to believe in themselves and their abilities. The granting of this scholarship would allow me to pursue further studies and gain the skills needed to make a positive impact. It would also reinforce my commitment to excellence and public service, encouraging me to work towards individual and collective achievement. In short, a spirit of excellence is about striving to be one's best and assisting others to be their best as well. I am devoted to maintaining high standards at school and in my life and to doing everything that I can to contribute to society. Through my teaching and future nonprofit organization, I wish to create lasting impact so that students from all walks of life can have the help and opportunities that they need in order to achieve.
A Man Helping Women Helping Women Scholarship
I have been attracted to education's transformative power from a young age. Teachers have made me who I am, not only because they taught me but because they instilled in me the virtues of perseverance, curiosity, and compassion. Their dedication and passion have inspired me to follow in their footsteps and become a teacher myself. I would like to be able to make a difference in the life of students the way my teachers have made in mine. As I grew older, I encountered educators who went out of their way to make each student feel seen and valued. It reaffirmed my belief that teaching was not just about lessons and textbooks but building growth, confidence, and love for learning. Teachers have a unique ability to empower students to reach their potential and move past challenges. I want to be involved in this transforming process, assisting students in discovering their potentials and acquiring the skills that will make them successful in life. My journey to teaching has been motivated by my experiences as a tutor and mentor. Whether I was assisting my peers in areas where they needed help or volunteering within local programs to work with younger students who required assistance with school, I witnessed firsthand the impact that one-on-one attention and care could have. These experiences only reaffirmed my desire to teach and my goal of creating a classroom community where every student feels confident and involved in learning. Beyond the classroom, I hope to engage in educational endeavors that promote equity and accessibility. I recognize that not all students have the same opportunities or resources, and I am committed to bridging these gaps. Whether through promoting education policy that is more equitable, empowering marginalized communities, or employing innovative pedagogical practices, I would like to see all students, regardless of their background, have access to quality education. In addition, I believe that education extends beyond the classroom. It encompasses the development of character, persistence, and problem-solving skills. As a future teacher, I would like to create a supportive community where students feel comfortable being themselves and learning from their errors. Through fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity, I hope to inspire the next generation to be compassionate, open-minded individuals who contribute positively to society. Receiving this scholarship would be instrumental in helping me fulfill my dream of becoming an educationist. It would provide me with the necessary means to pursue my studies, have valuable experiences, and gain the insight needed to become a competent teacher. Above all, it would be an affirmation of my belief that education can transform and that I can make a positive impact. In conclusion, my passion for teaching is a product of the incredible teachers who have touched my life. I am determined to carry on their legacy by being a teacher who inspires, motivates, and empowers students. Through my service, I would like to make a lasting legacy, causing education to remain a gateway to opportunity, growth, and transformation for all.
    Marie Humphries Memorial Scholarship
A career in teaching is my humble way of giving back to a profession that has shaped me into what I am today. I consider teaching a potent avenue for growth for the next generation by equipping students with knowledge, skills, and values that will help them sail through life. To me, teaching is not only academics; it is about human connection with the students, inspiring them to discover their potential and showing them that learning can be meaningful and transformative. Throughout my educational journey, I have been fortunate to encounter a few teachers who have left an indelible mark on my life. The only thing different with these teachers is not the knowledge or teaching methodologies but their honesty and genuineness. They let their humanity be a part of themselves: relatable, approachable. Never did they Balk at sharing their own battles, admitting mistakes, or showing weaknesses. And by doing this, they opened up space for safety and support in which I was really seen, heard, and valued. They showed me that being human is not something flawed but actually a strength, and something which helps to this date. One particularly changed my thinking towards education and life: while I was in high school, much self-doubt lingered within my heart, as if it refused to leave; often I used to ask myself what ability I did have. Then my English teacher, Ms. Carter, would always spot that and encourage me extra. She is always ready to narrate her story, whereby she was experiencing insecurity and how she came out of it. Through her honesty and empathy, I was able to realize that I was not alone in my challenges, but she helped me to see and understand the challenges as an opportunity rather than an obstacle. Ms. Carter's persistent belief in me ushered me into believing in myself and has remained with me ever since. I want to be this type of teacher who makes such an effect on her students. I will try to have a classroom in which students would feel comfortable being themselves, their voices would be heard, and efforts recognized. It is my hope that through being honest and open about my own journey, this will help students see that growth itself is a process and that the stumbles along the way are what make it worthwhile. I want them to believe in themselves for greater things, even if sometimes they question themselves. It will also give me an opportunity to influence the future by instilling values such as empathy, resilience, and curiosity into the minds of the younger generation. I want to help them grow both academically and socially and to be emotionally intelligent. I would like to inspire them to be critical thinkers who collaborate and approach the world with an open mind. I can only hope that this will eventually set them up for dealing with the challenges of an increasingly evolving world with confidence and compassion. Fundamentally, my motivation for teaching comes from a deep-seated interest in making a difference in people's lives. I want to be that source of support and inspiration for my students, just as my teachers have been to me. Through the adoption of honesty, humanity, and growth, I aspire to leave behind a legacy that truly empowers the next generation toward success and to make their own meaningful contributions to society.

Teaching is the basis for molding the future of society. To guide young, budding minds by discovering their inner strength and growing into well-assured successful people is a huge responsibility and also a privilege. My philosophy in teaching is anchored in the belief that education is not just transmission of knowledge but about inculcating curiosity, empathy, and resilience. I believe it is important to establish a class environment that allows students to feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn since a supportive and inclusive atmosphere will provide them with the best possible opportunity to grow. At the core of what I believe drives this purpose of education: to empower students to think critically, meaningfully engage with the world around them, and instill in them a lifelong love of learning. Education should be a tool for equity, opening doors of opportunity and bridging gaps in understanding. My teaching methods have been shaped by my cultural and linguistic experience. I grew up in a multilingual household, learned the value of diverse perspectives, and learned about inclusivity. This has helped me commit to creating a culturally responsive classroom where the background of each student is celebrated and their voice is heard. In my own education, I had teachers who tried to make learning relevant and engaging with innovative methods. This included activities that really made a difference in the course of my academic journey: project-based learning, collaboration, and differentiation. I will use these approaches in my classroom to support culturally and linguistically responsive learning. For example, lessons that include the cultural experiences of students and allow for peer-to-peer learning may provide students with a sense of belonging to and respect for one another. Visual aids, technology, and hands-on activities also ensure lessons are accessible and engaging to all learners. The impact I hope to have on my students extends beyond academics. My aspiration would be to help them in gaining not only their knowledge and skills but also their confidence, empathy, and resilience. For students in academics, my main priority is that they are enabled with the appropriate ability to think critically and solve problems critically so that they can survive this complex world. Socially, I would help them become compassionate and diverse people, making them more productive members for their communities. To realize this, I will focus on establishing good relationships with my students, understanding their varied needs and strengths, and establishing in them a culture of respect and collaboration in the classroom. A commitment to professional growth and development forms a core aspect of my philosophy. I view teaching as a continuously ongoing learning and evolution process. I will update myself with state-of-the-art research in education, attend professional development activities, and engage with fellow teachers for sharing and exchange of professional practice. I would be able to reflect upon my teaching methods and ways of seeking feedback from students and peers to identify further improvements that I have to make in meeting the diverse needs of students. The call of teaching is not a vocation for me but a call to be relevant in the lives of my students. I create a safe, inclusive learning environment; use effective, culturally responsive teaching strategies; and commit to continuous growth to hopefully be that teacher who inspires and empowers the next generation. My final purpose is to allow students not just to be scholastically proficient but also endowed with confidence and character in being able to soar in every sphere of their lives.
    Wicked Fan Scholarship
Wicked has been enchanting audiences worldwide, and rightly so. This adaptation brings the musical sensation, with its powerful story, unforgettable songs, and spectacular scenery, to an even wider audience than ever before. But more than anything else, what really excites me about this movie is to show just how athletic this cast is-and their dedication-on a new platform. This is a translation of the physical demands of the stage to the big screen, and I can only admire the actors who bring this vibrant world to life with the same energy and passion. One of the most exciting things about the movie version of Wicked is the way in which it reimagines the complex choreography and physicality of the stage version. Numbers such as "Dancing Through Life" and "One Short Day," already energetic and lively in the musical, are now visual spectacles on film. With the aid of cinematography and editing, these sequences have taken on new life, marrying intricate movements with imaginative settings. The athleticism of the cast doubtless shines in navigating both the complexities of choreography and the technical demands of filmmaking. What especially impresses is that the role requires a lot of physical and vocal effort. The actress played it with incredible professionalism on screen. Songs like "Defying Gravity" would need only an amazing voice, but powerful and controlled physically as well. On stage, one is literally blown away when Elphaba flies off into the wings, but even that scene has now become amazing in the movie thanks to special effects. It shows the actor's ability to express strength and emotion in such a physically demanding role-a testament to his dedication and talent. Similarly, Glinda required a just-right mixture of comic timing, vocal agility, and physical grace. The sparkly personality mixed with lots of complicated movements makes the role quite a challenge-also more on film. Indeed, it's a treat watching an actor perform in the role with such grace and precision. The Wicked movie cast was also something worth enduring and putting up with. Filming a movie is no easy task, considering most scenes take long, are shot more than once, and some are highly physically demanding. The commitment by the actors to maintain the same energy and passion throughout the process was just like that of stage performers. It's an inspiration and a highlight of how athleticism and artistry meet. What really makes this Wicked movie special, though, is how such physical performances root themselves in more substantial storytelling. The emotional arc of this story-friendship, identity, and defying expectations-is fleshed out in detail through the physical expressions of actors. From the way Elphaba stands in defiance to take flight, synchronized movements in ensemble group numbers-every little thing forms this magic of a story. As a fan, I go to the length of appreciating how much the cast struggle for the movie Wicked. The film is a celebration of astonishing athleticism by the performers and a reimagining of this story in a new, yet faithful feel. I do appreciate the way the film has rewritten the beloved musical into one which still can intrigue the audience with the powerful message and striking performance.
    Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
Sabrina Carpenter's career is really the epitome of authenticity, resilience, and artistic growth-all the reasons that have made me a fan. From being an actress on Disney Channel to evolving into a multifaceted singer-songwriter, Sabrina has shown over and over again a commitment to her craft that is inspiring and relatable. Her music and career have influenced me because, well, she inspires me to express myself, shows emotional vulnerability, and reminds me that growing up doesn't stop. One thing that impresses me most about Sabrina Carpenter is how she can make her songs vulnerable yet strong. Songs like "Exhale" and "Skinny Dipping" show just how willing she is to fight against insecurities and survive in deeper emotions. These tracks resonate with me because they capture the complexities of navigating life's challenges while striving for self-acceptance. At times, her music has felt like having that heart-to-heart conversation with a close friend-the comfort and reassurance one would need during difficult times. Sabrina's artistry shows growth not just in herself as an artist but also as a person. Early in her career, the pop-structured melodies and the youthful energy that filled her work were the seeding that developed her career. What at one point in her life had been an innocent spark had grown in maturity over time, with experimental sounds and themes finding manifestation in albums such as emails I can't send. It is this kind of growth that has encouraged me to embrace change and not fear personal growth. It is to remind us that evolution is part of life and creativity. Besides her music, what has also been influential in my life is how Sabrina Carpenter faced public scrutiny and personal struggles head-on. How she always seemed to be on top of things and never judged herself on what other people said truly showed a meaning of strength. It's too easy sometimes when one feels down due to disappointments or negative criticisms, yet still, one can get up like Sabrina did and try harder, all the while being in grace. Sabrina's impact goes beyond her artistry into her role as a public figure. She utilizes her platform to advocate for mental health awareness, self-confidence, and empowerment-all things that align with values important to me. Her openness about her own struggles with anxiety has made me feel less alone in my own experiences and has encouraged me to prioritize my mental well-being. She reminds her fans that it's okay to ask for help and that vulnerability is a form of strength. What really sets Sabrina apart, though, is her ability to connect with her audience on a personal level. Whether through candid lyrics, heartfelt interviews, or a relatable social media presence, she has a way of making her fans feel seen and understood. By making that connection, a sort of community has formed among her listeners, where we can all share our experiences and support one another. It's such a great example of how art can bring people together and leave long-lasting influences. In fact, Sabrina Carpenter's career has influenced me in profound ways by encouraging self-expression, modeling resilience, and authenticity. Her music serves as both a source of comfort and a catalyst for personal growth, while her actions as a public figure inspire me to approach life with courage and compassion. Being a fan of Sabrina Carpenter isn’t just about enjoying her work—it’s about learning from her journey and applying those lessons to my own life. For that, I’m incredibly grateful.
    Chappell Roan Superfan Scholarship
Every note of Chappell Roan is a special story, so fragile, empowered, and full of joy; comfort and inspiration for people like me. I am not saying I'm the most avid fan, but her songs were really like a breath of fresh air to me, so full of honesty and artistry. She managed to create music that feels deeply personal yet universally relatable, leaving an impact on me. One of the things I like most about Chappell Roan's music is the emotional honesty. Her lyrics often touch on themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the complexities of love-all of which resonate with me on a personal level. Songs like "Pink Pony Club" showcase her talent for storytelling, painting vivid pictures of longing and self-acceptance. It's an invitation into her world, where she is not afraid to share her struggles and triumphs. This openness has encouraged me to reflect on my own journey and embrace my emotions more fully. Beyond her lyrics, Chappell's music is also incredibly dynamic and fun. Her ability to blend pop melodies with theatrical flair creates an irresistible energy that's hard to ignore. Tracks like "Naked in Manhattan" capture that sense of freedom and adventure; thus, it's the perfect anthem when I'm in need of a boost in confidence or letting go and just living life. Her music strikes a balance between introspection and celebration, offering something for every mood and experience. Another reason I support Chappell Roan's career is her commitment to authenticity and individuality. In a world that seems to often focus on the bottom line, rather than quality, Chappell stands out for staying true to her unique vision. Her bold aesthetic and unapologetic self-expression inspire me to let my hair down and love my quirks and passions. She is an artist who reminds one that creativity flourishes when risks are taken and one can be themselves. It represents this burgeoning success of Chappell as a reflection of a greater turn in the music industry: a rise to fame hinged upon the embracing of unique voices and perspectives. She is part of that new generation of artists pushing boundaries and challenging what it means to be a pop star. Supporting her career feels to me like supporting a cultural movement, one that values originality and inclusivity. Although I don't have much personal history with Chappell Roan's music, her songs are, nonetheless, very special to me. They provided a soundtrack to moments of my self-reflection, joy, and empowerment; they have enabled me to embrace my true self. She is definitely an artist whose career should be followed-not just because she is so talented, but because she is creating some really positive impact among her growing listeners and throughout the music world in general. In the end, Chappell Roan’s music reminds me of the power of art to connect people, uplift spirits, and inspire change. Whether through her heartfelt lyrics, infectious energy, or bold individuality, she’s creating something truly special. I’m excited to see where her journey takes her and proud to support an artist who continues to make such a meaningful impact.
    Love Island Fan Scholarship
Introducing the Love Island "Canvas of Connection" challenge, an artistic and emotionally charged competition designed to test the Islanders' creativity, teamwork, and ability to connect on a deeper level. The challenge brings out another side of the contestants through their artistry in being able to show their vulnerability, how well they can communicate, and how compatible they are with others. Setup The Canvas of Connection challenge is staged in a sunlit outdoor studio with easels, paint, brushes, and other creative supplies. The challenge is divided into pairs, and each couple teams up to create a collaborative painting. There is, however, one catch: each couple will have to represent one characteristic of their relationship through the piece they will create, for example, "Trust," "Growth," or "Passion." The topics will be given at random, so each couple should get to do something very significant for their relationship. Rules 1. Limited Time: Each couple is given 45 minutes to complete their painting. This time limit ensures the challenge is fast-paced and keeps the pressure high, pushing the Islanders to communicate effectively and make creative decisions under stress. 2. Silent Start: No words shall be said within the first 10 minutes; couples have to use non-verbal means of starting to work, through gestures or body expressions. This rule tests how well they can understand one another without relying on verbal cues. 3. The Final Flourish: During the last 5 minutes, the Islanders have to include one unforeseen element in their painting. This could be glitter, stencils, or even their own handprints. This twist encourages couples to let loose and be more spontaneous, thinking on their feet. Judging When time's up, the couples would have to present their finished piece of art to the rest of the Islanders. Each of the couples would explain their reasons for painting what they paint. How does it interpret the given theme, and how would this be a reflection of the relationship? The other Islanders, aided by a guest judge-either an artist or even a relationship expert-score the paintings under three categories: 1. Creativity: How original and creative is the painting? 2. Representation: How well does the painting represent the given theme? 3. Connection: How well did the couple work and connect during the challenge? The winning couple gets a romantic date night: a private dinner under the stars, surrounded by their finished artwork and softly lit by fairy lights. This prize gives not only quality time but also cements their status as the couple who worked best as a team. Why It Works The Canvas of Connection really stands out because it's something different from the normal, physical, or trivia kinds of games one sees in Love Island. With the inclusion of art, this challenge brings into play emotional vulnerability and the ability to express oneself creatively-the two most important ingredients needed in any relationship. They get to break down barriers with each other and connect in a new way, which encourages deeper intimacy and shows just how well they can problem-solve as a unit. Moreover, the challenge gives viewers an engaging mix of humor and heart: from hilarious miscommunications during the silent start to touching explanations of how the paintings reflect the couples' bonds, Canvas of Connection delivers both entertaining and meaningful moments. Ultimately, the challenge amuses but also gives one a rare chance for self-discovery and growth, proving that sometimes love is best expressed through art. After all, relationships are like paintings: a mix of creativity, effort, and a little bit of chaos can create something truly beautiful.
    Charli XCX brat Fan Scholarship
"So I" is one of the most striking songs on brat, an album by Charli XCX, and immediately resonates with anyone who has ever felt lonely, lost something, or wanted something they could not get. This song is by far the most emotionally raw moment on the album for me. Being a person who has fought depression for many years, I find "So I" captures the difficult, often isolating experience of confronting one's own emotions-a feeling that is both deeply personal and universally human. From its haunting, understated production to Charli's tender and reflective vocals, "So I" feels like a confession whispered into the void. Charli strips away most of the bravado and exuberance found in much of her music to bare a raw, achingly relatable side. The lyrics speak of a need for connection and clarity, yet they also acknowledge how hard it is to reach out when no one seems capable of truly understanding. Lines like “I’m so tired of being myself” capture a raw honesty about self-doubt and emotional fatigue—feelings that many people, including myself, experience in the depths of depression. What makes “So I” even more powerful is its subtle juxtaposition of pain and beauty. The soft, dreamlike instrumental creates a sense of stillness, as if time itself has paused to allow these emotions to surface. It is almost comforting; it feels like this song might be an excellent safe space to get through your feelings, as they may become far too heavy. For any one of these people who has been afflicted with depression, this duality feels poignantly real: beauty in sadness and calm in isolation. Depression does not come in loud or chaotic forms always, for sometimes it is the lingering silence that dulls the world outside your window. "So I" captured that perfectly. I am taken through my own journey with poor mental health when listening to this song. Depression so often feels like an invisible weight, one that is hard to explain or share with others. There have definitely been times where I've felt stuck in my own mind, too, unsure of how to move forward. Songs like "So I" give solace. They remind me that I am not alone-that others have felt this same sadness, this same longing for something more. In some ways, Charli's ability to articulate these feelings so honestly gives me permission to acknowledge my own emotions without shame. Moreover, "So I" speaks to the importance of embracing vulnerability. In a world that typically wants us to come off as strong, confident, and pieced together, it's so effortless to bury the parts of ourselves that feel fragile or broken. Charli is willing to share her struggles through this song, which will be a powerful reminder that honesty is a strength. By releasing her own pain, she is opening up space for listeners like myself to do the same. It is a reminder that vulnerability is not weakness; it is courage. Finally, "So I" is not just a song; it's a lifeline. It is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is beauty to be found in our experiences, and there is hope in knowing that we are not alone. For those of us who have fought depression, this song offers a sense of understanding and connection that is both rare and deeply comforting. It is for this reason that "So I" is my favorite song on brat—a song that captures the sadness I have felt, while also reminding me that there is meaning and strength in facing those emotions head-on.
    Bear Fan Scholarship
The perfect ending to The Bear would strike a balance between realism and hope, honoring the raw authenticity of the show while providing a sense of closure for the beloved characters. The Bear is a story about grief, ambition, and the chaotic beauty of human connection-a satisfying ending would see each character find growth and purpose while remaining true to the struggles that shaped them. Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto would finally learn to find peace within his relentless drive for perfection. Throughout the series, Carmy has been tormented by his brother Michael's death and his own unrelenting standards. In the final episode, Carmy opens a new, successful restaurant-one that earns accolades, but more importantly, earns his own self-acceptance. After years of alienating relationships and being consumed by work, Carmy reconnects with Claire, symbolizing his readiness to let someone into his life. Their relationship isn't perfect-it's built on the understanding that both of them are works in progress-but it represents a meaningful step toward balance for Carmy in his professional and personal lives. Sydney Adamu, Carmy's ambitious sous-chef, gets to live her ambitions for leadership and creativity. The character Sydney, after building confidence under Carmy's tutelage, has branched out to start a restaurant of her own. Her establishment thrived, being innovative yet accessible to people, which earned her the recognitions she deserved as one revolutionary chef. Sydney's arc-so marked by self-doubt and imposter syndrome-goes out with her triumphantly owning her talent and vision. It's Richie Jerimovich, the kernel of this kitchen's chaos, who actually shows the most growth and development. After years lost, without direction, Richie has found a sense of purpose as the general manager of Carmy's restaurant. He adopts other younger staff members with wisdom gained through his time in fine dining. As Richie finally learns to balance work and family, his relationship with his daughter flourishes, and he finally understands that his worth is not defined by his past but by the man he chooses to become. The rest of the kitchen crew find their meaningful resolutions: Tina becomes head chef at Sydney's restaurant-a well-deserved acknowledgment of her skills and growth. Marcus, the pastry chef with an artist's soul, goes off to Europe to refine his craft, inspired by the lessons Carmy taught him. His storyline is bittersweet: he leaves the team behind, but he fulfills his potential as a world-class pastry chef. Fak and Neil continue providing comic relief, but their loyalty to the restaurant never wavers as they take on more meaningful roles behind the scenes. The final scene of The Bear would be this really quiet, understated moment that tied it all together. The kitchen crew comes together for a family meal in the newly opened restaurant. The space is elegant yet comfortable-a reflection of Carmy and Sydney's combined vision. There is laughter all around as everybody shares stories and food to show how far they've come, both as people and as a family. In the last shot, Carmy looks around the table and smiles—a genuine, unguarded smile that we’ve rarely seen throughout the series. It’s not a fairy-tale ending, but it’s real: these characters have fought through chaos, loss, and hardship to build something beautiful together. The perfect ending to The Bear would celebrate growth without glossing over the struggle. It should respect the messy, complicated nature of life and be a reminder that redemption, purpose, and love can be achieved-even in the most unlikely places.
    LeBron James Fan Scholarship
I would never say that I'm a fan of LeBron James, but he is an exceptionally basketball player, the one deserving of my respect in general, taking into consideration his skill, achievements, and contribution both on and off the court. It is purely subjective, emanating from my own preferences regarding other players, styles of play, and what I hold in high regard about basketball legends. That being said, I really cannot take away the fact that LeBron James has indeed changed the game, and any tale of basketball history without his name would not be complete. To understand LeBron's greatness, one has to revert to accomplishments. A four-time NBA champion, four-time MVP, and a 20-time NBA All-Star, LeBron's consistency and longevity at the top of the class have separated him from every player to have graced the game. Majority of professional athletes would peak and fall due to age, but LeBron for over two decades hasn't fallen below that ceiling. Into his final years of peak performance, LeBron continues to dominate, putting up consistent numbers in points, assists, and rebounds. Few players throughout NBA history have shown the level of durability and adaptability that he has; his legacy will go down as one of the greats. Despite these achievements, I hesitate to crown LeBron James as the greatest basketball player of all time. That title, for me, belongs to Michael Jordan. Jordan's six championships with the Chicago Bulls, his perfect NBA Finals record of 6-0, and his performances under pressure are simply incomparable. Where Jordan excelled in killer instinct and clutch moments, LeBron has occasionally faltered. While LeBron's all-around game and ability to play multiple positions make him incredibly versatile, I still find Jordan's competitive drive and sheer will to win to be the ultimate mark of greatness. Additionally, Jordan's influence in globalizing the NBA cannot be overlooked-he made basketball a global phenomenon and became a cultural icon in a way that remains unparalleled. My lack of fandom also comes to personal preference. I grew up admiring players who played with raw intensity, defined by grit and emotional fire. LeBron's style of play - calculated and effective- lacked that edge which drew me in. Where others saw strategic decision-making, I saw, in critical moments, an absence of urgency. Basketball's about emotion and stories to me along with skills on the court. While LeBron is skillful, without doubt, he doesn't arouse inspiration as other players would. Still, it's fair to recognize what LeBron means outside basketball. His leadership as an activist, philanthropist, and role model has been admirable. It speaks to the belief that through efforts like the I PROMISE School, aimed at educating and supporting at-risk youth, LeBron proved his power extended well beyond sports. Few have utilized a platform like LeBron has in creating lasting change in the community. As would-be disinterested, I have respect for how he conducts himself with regard to his responsibilities as a leader and role model. Even though I'm not a fan of LeBron James the player, one cannot deny his place in the annals of basketball. He is that rare, generational talent whose accomplishments speak for themselves, his legacy already secure. I still wholeheartedly believe that Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time, but LeBron's case is one that can't be denied or rejected and is worthy of being in the same breath. If he is their favorite, well, that would certainly be justified admiration. For the rest of us that aren't fans, there's still plenty to be said about the player, the leader, and the man that LeBron James has become.
    Bookshelf to Big Screen Scholarship
Magic in Two Worlds: Experiencing Harry Potter in Books and on the Big Screen The Harry Potter series wasn’t just a story for me—it was an immersive experience that bridged two worlds: the boundless imagination of reading and the vivid spectacle of film. Experiencing the books and movies together was magical, and I made it a rule to finish each book before watching its corresponding film. This approach allowed me to create my own version of the wizarding world in my mind before seeing how it was interpreted on the big screen. Reading the books was an adventure unlike any other. J.K. Rowling’s descriptions brought every detail to life, from the charm of Diagon Alley to the intricate magic of Hogwarts. Each page was an invitation to imagine, and I eagerly accepted. When I finally watched the films, it felt like seeing a dream come alive. The grandeur of the castle, the twinkling Great Hall, and the awe-inspiring Quidditch matches were even more vivid than I had imagined. The actors brought a new dimension to the story, making it even more special. Daniel Radcliffe’s portrayal of Harry captured his bravery and vulnerability, while Emma Watson and Rupert Grint embodied Hermione’s intellect and Ron’s loyalty. Watching them grow alongside the characters over the years deepened my connection to the series. What fascinated me most, though, was comparing the books and films. I couldn’t help but notice the differences—what was faithfully adapted, what was left out, and what was altered. For instance, the absence of Hermione’s S.P.E.W. campaign in the films stood out to me. While it wasn’t a major plotline, it showcased Hermione’s compassion and activism in the books. Similarly, Percy Weasley’s estrangement from his family, a subplot that added depth to his character, was largely overlooked in the films. These omissions didn’t lessen my enjoyment but made me realize that books and films are distinct art forms with their own storytelling constraints. The books gave me depth, allowing me to linger in the intricacies of the wizarding world. The films, on the other hand, provided a shared experience. Watching the movies in theaters, surrounded by fans, was magical in its own way. The collective cheers, gasps, and laughter created a sense of community. Moments like the Yule Ball or the epic final battle against Voldemort felt even more powerful on the big screen. This journey deepened my understanding of storytelling across mediums. I learned that books and films each have unique strengths: books give us the freedom to imagine, while films bring those imaginations to life in ways we might not have envisioned. Together, they enriched my experience of Harry Potter and taught me to appreciate the creativity involved in adaptation. For me, Harry Potter wasn’t just a book series or a film franchise—it was a bridge between two worlds of imagination. Whether I was turning the pages of a well-loved book or watching the credits roll in a theater, I felt the same wonder. The magic of Harry Potter lies not just in its story, but in how it inspires readers and viewers to believe in the impossible.
    GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
Adolescence in a Lyric: Lessons from "get him back!" Olivia Rodrigo’s bridge in “get him back!” perfectly encapsulates the chaotic cocktail of emotions that defines adolescence. The line “I wanna kiss his face with an uppercut” might sound dramatic, but to me, it’s a brilliant blend of love, anger, and the complexity of teenage relationships. This lyric resonates deeply because it reminds me of a conversation with my younger sister, who has faced heartbreak and betrayal from boys who didn’t deserve her. My sister once confided in me about a boy she had trusted, only to find out he had cheated on her. She described the whiplash of emotions—how one moment she wanted to scream at him and the next, she missed the way he made her laugh. As I listened to her, I couldn’t help but think of Rodrigo’s lyric. There’s something so painfully relatable about wanting to “get him back” in every sense of the word—to make him regret his actions while also secretly hoping he’ll come back to you, somehow better. Adolescence, for me, has been a similar tug-of-war between conflicting feelings. We’re constantly told to know what we want and who we are, yet everything about being a teenager is about figuring those things out. Rodrigo captures that messy process of growth with lyrics that mix revenge and romance, anger and affection. It’s not just about the boy—it’s about us. It’s about how we process pain and what we learn from it. For my sister, the process wasn’t just about getting over a boy; it was about understanding her worth. In one of our late-night talks, we joked about all the ways she could “get him back”—from glaring at him in the hallway to ignoring his texts. But as much as we laughed about revenge, the conversation shifted to something more profound: she deserved someone who wouldn’t break her trust in the first place. Olivia’s lyric served as a reminder that it’s okay to feel hurt and angry, but it’s also important to move forward. This is the magic of Rodrigo’s music. It doesn’t just validate our emotions; it pushes us to reflect on them. Her lyric speaks to a universal truth about adolescence: the challenges we face in relationships are never just about the other person. They’re about discovering who we are and what we’re willing to accept. As I reflect on my sister’s experiences and our conversations, I realize how much they’ve shaped my perspective on love and self-respect. Watching her navigate heartbreak with strength and humor taught me that it’s okay to feel everything at once—the love, the anger, and even the desire for revenge. What matters is what we choose to do with those emotions. Adolescence is messy. It’s full of contradictions, like wanting to uppercut someone while still missing them. But it’s also a time for growth, for learning how to navigate the chaos and come out stronger. Olivia Rodrigo’s “get him back!” may be a song about a boy, but for me, it’s a reminder of the deeper lessons we learn about ourselves during this tumultuous time of life.

Being a first-generation student on my dad's side and a first-generation citizen on my mom's side has shaped my beliefs about life in many ways. It has been an interesting journey to see how my parents approach everyday situations, each bringing their unique perspectives. My dad, who grew up in the United States, understands what it is like to navigate the culture here, while my mom, who went to college in a different country, offers insights from her own experiences. Growing up, I often found myself bridging two worlds. My dad's familiarity with American culture meant he could guide me through things like school systems and social norms. He knew what it was like to grow up here and could offer advice on fitting in and succeeding. On the other hand, my mom brought a different viewpoint. LGBTQ+ Wellness in Action Scholarship
Mental and physical wellness is a journey that shapes not only our health but also our identity and purpose. For me, this journey has been particularly challenging. Over the past few years, I have struggled with my mental health, navigating the ups and downs of healing. This ongoing battle has taught me that wellness is not a destination but a continuous process that requires dedication and resilience. Mental wellness has always been a priority for me, yet it has often felt elusive. The pressures of academic life, coupled with personal challenges, have sometimes overwhelmed me, leading to feelings of anxiety and isolation. These struggles have made it difficult to maintain a consistent routine, impacting my motivation and focus. I’ve learned that when my mental health falters, my physical health tends to follow suit; energy wanes, and the desire to engage in physical activities diminishes. As a student, the pursuit of good mental and physical health often feels like a balancing act. The demands of coursework, extracurricular activities, and social obligations can create a whirlwind of stress. I frequently find myself torn between the need to excel academically and the necessity of taking time for self-care. This internal conflict has led to periods of burnout, where I have had to confront the consequences of neglecting my wellness. Despite these challenges, I have made significant strides in prioritizing my health. I recognize that regular exercise is crucial for both my mental and physical well-being. Although I’ve struggled to maintain a consistent routine, I am committed to getting back to regular physical activity. Whether it’s a simple walk in nature or a home workout, I’ve found that movement helps clear my mind and rejuvenate my spirit. Additionally, I have embraced mindfulness practices, such as meditation and journaling, to cultivate a deeper understanding of my emotions and to create a sense of calm amidst the chaos. Support systems have played a vital role in my journey. I have sought help from counselors and engaged with friends who understand my struggles. Sharing my experiences has not only provided me with comfort but also accountability. I’ve learned that it’s okay to ask for help and that vulnerability can lead to profound connections. As I look to the future, I am committed to making mental and physical wellness an integral part of my life. I aspire to pursue a career where I can help others navigate their own challenges, perhaps in counseling or health education. I believe that my experiences will allow me to empathize with those I aim to support, helping them recognize the importance of prioritizing their well-being. In conclusion, my journey toward mental and physical wellness has been anything but linear. However, it has equipped me with the tools to face adversity and the determination to pursue my goals. As I continue my education, I am dedicated to nurturing my well-being, understanding that it is the foundation upon which I can build a fulfilling future.

    Norton Scholarship
Truth is a relative term as everyone has their own understanding of what the concept means, but there is one truth that Christians should understand: Jesus came and saved us by dying for us. This truth is what will save us when we die, and if we believe with all our heart, mind, and soul, we will ascend to heaven. This truth is still subject to human interpretation though and has caused division in the Church. No matter the denomination or church style a Christian attends, the truth of God will never change. The Good News that He sent his one and only son to die for the world’s transgression and rose again from the dead three days later is the undisputed truth among the Christian community. It is God’s truth. The idea of "my truth" suggests that truth is personal and can vary from person to person. In today's culture, people often rely on their feelings and experiences to define what is true for them. This can be empowering but also dangerous because it can lead to a subjective view of reality. For example, in my studies of psychology at Liberty University, I have learned how personal experiences and emotions can shape one's perception of truth. However, from a biblical standpoint, truth is not subjective. It is absolute and unchanging. John 14:6 says, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" This verse makes it clear that Jesus is the embodiment of God's truth. It is not something that changes based on our feelings or circumstances. This truth is the foundation of our faith as Christians. It is what guides us and gives us hope. As an education major, I understand the importance of teaching and learning the truth. I have spent six years as an assistant dance instructor, and I know the value of discipline and practice. Just like in dance, where there are certain techniques and truths that must be followed, in our faith, we must adhere to the truths laid out in the Bible. The Bible also warns us about the dangers of relying on our own understanding. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." This verse reminds us that our own understanding can be flawed, but God's truth is perfect. In conclusion, while many people may have their own version of "my truth," as Christians, we must remember that God's truth, as revealed in the Bible, is the ultimate truth. It is unchanging and absolute. By believing in Jesus and following the teachings of the Bible, we can find true salvation and hope. This is the truth that I hold dear and strive to live by every day.
    Combined Worlds Scholarship
By seeing how others live, we can reflect upon how we live. I wish I had the chance to travel more and see different countries. The diversity in the world is amazing, and being able to see it firsthand is what I wish I could have. Travel can be a transformative experience for individuals, offering unique opportunities for personal growth and development through exposure to different cultures, perspectives, and environments. As a rising sophomore at Liberty University, majoring in Education and Psychology, I have always been fascinated by how people learn and develop. Understanding different cultures and perspectives is crucial for my studies. Travel can provide insights that textbooks and lectures cannot. By immersing myself in new environments, I can better understand the diverse backgrounds of future students and clients, which will make me a more empathetic and effective educator and psychologist. One of the most impactful aspects of travel is the exposure to different ways of life. Seeing how others live can challenge our assumptions and broaden our horizons. For example, as an assistant dance instructor for six years and a dancer in three styles for ten years, I have learned that dance is a universal language. Each culture has its unique dance forms, and experiencing these firsthand would deepen my appreciation for the art and its role in different societies. This exposure would not only enrich my teaching but also foster a greater sense of global community. Travel also encourages personal growth by pushing us out of our comfort zones. Navigating unfamiliar places, trying new foods, and communicating in different languages can be daunting but immensely rewarding. These experiences build resilience, adaptability, and confidence. As someone who values education and personal development, I believe that these qualities are essential for success in any field. Moreover, travel can inspire a sense of gratitude and humility. Witnessing the beauty and challenges of different environments can make us more aware of our privileges and responsibilities. It can motivate us to contribute positively to our communities and the world at large. For me, this means using my education to advocate for inclusive and equitable practices in schools and mental health services. In conclusion, travel offers invaluable opportunities for personal growth and development. By exposing us to diverse cultures, perspectives, and environments, it helps us become more empathetic, resilient, and globally-minded individuals. I am eager to embrace these transformative experiences and apply the lessons learned to my studies and future career. The Combined Worlds Scholarship would make this possible, allowing me to explore the world and become a more effective educator and psychologist.
    Mental Health Importance Scholarship
My name is Emma Romayko, and I am a rising sophomore at Liberty University, majoring in Education and Psychology. I have struggled with mental health for a few years now, and I have seen how it impacts every piece of a person’s life. It is not always the same when it comes to what is happening and how it will change. It affects everyone around them, and those who know what is going on see the struggles without always knowing how to support them. I am currently in therapy for my mental health, working through what has happened in my life and how I can adapt to further changes. It is not easy, but it is better than doing nothing. Mental health is important to me because it influences how I think, feel, and act. When my mental health is not in a good place, it is hard to focus on my studies or enjoy activities I normally love, like dancing. I have been an assistant dance instructor for six years and have danced in three styles for ten years. Dance has always been a way for me to express myself and relieve stress, but when my mental health is struggling, even dance becomes a challenge. This has shown me how interconnected mental health is with every part of life. To maintain my mental wellness, I have adopted several strategies. Therapy is a big part of it. My therapist helps me work through my feelings and teaches me coping skills. I also make sure to keep a routine, which includes regular exercise, healthy eating, and enough sleep. Exercise, especially dance, helps me release built-up tension and improves my mood. I also practice mindfulness and meditation, which helps me stay grounded and present. Another way I maintain my mental wellness is by staying connected with friends and family. Having a support system is crucial. I talk to my close friends and family members when I need to, and I try to be there for them as well. Sharing my experiences with others who care about me makes me feel less alone and more understood. I also find that setting realistic goals and breaking them down into smaller steps helps me manage stress. Whether it is a big project for school or a personal goal, taking it one step at a time makes it feel more manageable. This approach has helped me maintain a high GPA in both high school and college, despite the challenges I have faced. In conclusion, my mental health is important because it affects every aspect of my life, from my studies to my hobbies to my relationships. Maintaining my mental wellness requires effort and commitment, but it is worth it. By going to therapy, keeping a routine, exercising, staying connected with loved ones, and setting realistic goals, I am able to manage my mental health and continue pursuing my passions. I believe that with the right support and strategies, anyone can improve their mental health and lead a fulfilling life.

Growing up in a single-parent household has shaped my life and educational journey in many ways. My parents divorced when I was young, and since then, my mom has been my primary caregiver. This situation has brought its share of challenges, especially when it comes to financing my education. Having divorced parents has made providing for college difficult and has led to having loans that will follow me after college. I hope to pay off those debts as quickly as possible and be able to provide a better life for the family I would like to have. Despite these financial hurdles, I have always been motivated to excel in my studies. I graduated high school with a GPA of 3.86 and currently maintain a 3.7 GPA at Liberty University, where I am majoring in Education and Psychology. I chose these fields because I am passionate about helping others learn and understand themselves better. I believe that education is a powerful tool for change, and I want to be a part of that change. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have been an assistant dance instructor for six years and have danced in three styles for ten years. Dance has taught me discipline, dedication, and the importance of hard work. These qualities have been essential in managing my responsibilities and staying focused on my goals, even when things get tough. Looking ahead, my primary goal is to become a school counselor. I want to support students who may be going through difficult times, much like I did. I understand the impact a caring adult can have on a young person's life, and I want to be that person for others. I also hope to continue my involvement in dance, possibly by starting a dance program at the school where I work. This would allow me to combine my love for dance with my passion for education and psychology. The Dimon A. Williams Memorial Scholarship would significantly help me achieve these goals. It would reduce the financial burden of my education, allowing me to focus more on my studies and less on how I will pay for them. This scholarship would also help me avoid accumulating more debt, which is crucial as I plan for my future. By easing my financial stress, I can devote more energy to becoming the best educator and counselor I can be. In summary, growing up in a single-parent household has presented challenges, but it has also fueled my determination to succeed. My experiences have shaped my educational journey and my future goals. I am committed to making a positive difference in the lives of others, and this scholarship would be a tremendous help in achieving that mission. Thank you for considering my application.
    Rainbow Futures Scholarship
Going to a conservative Christian college in a state considered part of the South has had some challenges. It is strange to hear the other side that is not easily accepting of the LGBTQ+ community. Even then, I still work my way into the conversation, adding in bits of positivity surrounding the topic. I have learned that change often comes slowly, but it starts with small steps. As a rising sophomore at Liberty University, majoring in Education and Psychology, I have faced numerous obstacles but have also found ways to navigate and overcome them. One of the biggest challenges has been finding a sense of belonging. In high school, I maintained a 3.86 GPA, and now I have a 3.7 GPA in college. Despite my academic success, being an LGBTQ+ woman in a conservative environment has been tough. I have often felt isolated and misunderstood. However, my passion for education and psychology has given me a platform to advocate for inclusivity and understanding. I have used class discussions and projects to highlight the importance of mental health and acceptance for LGBTQ+ individuals. For the past six years, I have been an assistant dance instructor, and I have danced three styles for ten years. Dance has always been my refuge, a place where I can express myself freely. I have used my role as an instructor to create a safe and welcoming environment for all my students, regardless of their background or identity. This experience has taught me the importance of leadership and the impact of creating inclusive spaces. My aspirations for higher education are to become a school counselor. I want to use my education in psychology to support and advocate for LGBTQ+ students who may feel as isolated as I once did. I believe that every student deserves to feel safe and accepted in their learning environment. By becoming a school counselor, I hope to provide the support and resources that LGBTQ+ students need to thrive academically and personally. Receiving the Rainbow Futures Scholarship would alleviate significant financial burdens, allowing me to focus more on my studies and less on how to pay for them. I plan to join or start an LGBTQ+ support group at Liberty University, where students can find community and support. In conclusion, my journey as an LGBTQ+ individual at a conservative college has been challenging, but it has also strengthened my resolve to advocate for inclusivity and acceptance. My aspirations in higher education are deeply tied to my commitment to support and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. The Rainbow Futures Scholarship would not only ease my financial burdens but also empower me to pursue these goals with greater focus and determination. Thank you for considering my application.
    Pool Family LGBT+ Scholarship
Attending Liberty University, a conservative Christian college in Virginia, has been an interesting experience for me as a bisexual woman. The school has spoken against the LGBTQ+ community while trying to hide that same fact. This environment has made me cautious about who I share my identity with. I do not often mention my sexuality to people I meet, but those close to me know and do not mind. They may not believe it is right in the eyes of God, but they see me as the person they have come to know, and that is what matters. Being part of the LGBTQ+ community at a conservative college has taught me a lot about resilience and understanding. I have learned to navigate a space that is not always accepting, and this has made me stronger. My experiences have also given me a unique perspective that I bring to my studies in Education and Psychology. I am passionate about these fields because I believe that understanding human behavior and helping others is crucial. I want to create a supportive environment for all students, especially those who feel marginalized. My career goal is to become a high school teacher. I want to provide a safe space for students to express themselves and seek help without fear of judgment. I believe that my background and experiences will help me connect with students who feel isolated or misunderstood. As a high school teacher, I want to advocate for mental health awareness and inclusivity in schools. I want to ensure that every student feels valued and supported, regardless of their background or identity. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have been an assistant dance instructor for six years and have danced in three styles for ten years. Dance has been a significant part of my life, and it has taught me discipline, teamwork, and the importance of self-expression. Teaching dance has also given me the opportunity to mentor younger students and help them build confidence. I believe that these skills and experiences will be valuable in my future career as a high school counselor. My high school GPA was 3.86, and my college GPA is 3.7. I have worked hard to maintain good grades while balancing my responsibilities as a dance instructor and my involvement in the LGBTQ+ community. I am committed to continuing my education and making a positive impact in the field of education and psychology. Receiving the Pool Family LGBT+ Scholarship would be an incredible honor and would help me achieve my career goals. It would allow me to continue my studies and work towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all students. Thank you for considering my application.
    Adam Montes Pride Scholarship
I want to become an educator in a high school setting. My goal is to create a classroom where all feel welcome, and that is difficult in the current political climate. I will have students who think one way and others who think another. I hope to teach them that listening and learning is the best way to solve issues or come closer to a compromise rather than slandering the other’s name. This vision drives my passion for education and psychology, which I am studying at Liberty University. From a young age, I have been fascinated by how people think and learn. This curiosity led me to pursue a double major in Education and Psychology. I believe understanding the mind is key to being an effective teacher. My high school GPA of 3.86 and my college GPA of 3.7 reflect my dedication to my studies. I am committed to excelling academically so I can be the best educator possible. One unique aspect about me is my background in dance. I have been dancing for ten years and have been an assistant dance instructor for six years. Teaching dance has taught me patience, discipline, and how to connect with students of different ages and backgrounds. These skills are transferable to the classroom, where I aim to create an inclusive environment. Dance has also shown me the importance of expression and creativity, which I plan to incorporate into my teaching methods. My motivation for seeking higher education is rooted in my desire to make a positive impact on future generations. I want to be more than just a teacher; I want to be a mentor and a role model. I believe that every student has potential, and it is my job to help them realize it. This is especially important in today’s world, where students face many challenges both inside and outside the classroom. My proudest accomplishment is not a single event but a series of moments where I have seen my students grow. As an assistant dance instructor, I have watched shy students gain confidence and become leaders. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of education and mentorship. In my community, I aim to be a positive influence by volunteering and participating in local events. I believe that being active in my community helps me understand the diverse needs of the students I will one day teach. It also allows me to give back and show gratitude for the support I have received. Receiving the Adam Montes Pride Scholarship would help me achieve my goals by easing the financial burden of my education. It would allow me to focus more on my studies and less on financial stress. More importantly, it would affirm my belief that I am on the right path. What distinguishes me from other applicants is my commitment to creating a classroom where all students feel valued and heard. My background in dance, my academic achievements, and my dedication to my community all contribute to my unique perspective. I am passionate about education and believe that I can make a difference. Elijah's Helping Hand Scholarship Award
The Silent Battle: My Journey with Mental Health My name is Emma Romayko, a rising sophomore at Liberty University. I am majoring in Education and Psychology, two fields that have become deeply personal and important to me due to my own experiences with mental health. People often underestimate the profound impact mental health can have on an individual. It is like a silent battle, fought within the confines of one's mind. It took me a while to understand and open up about my own struggles. I had to comprehend that it was not a sign of weakness, but rather a testament to my strength. During the course of my high school years, I witnessed my peers struggle with various mental health issues. I saw them grapple with anxiety, depression, and the immense pressure to perform academically. It was heartbreaking to watch them fight their battles, often alone and misunderstood. It was then that I realized the importance of mental health and the need for empathy and understanding in dealing with it. This experience led me to choose Psychology as one of my majors. I wanted to understand the complexities of the human mind, to learn how to help people navigate their struggles. I wanted to be the person who offered a listening ear, a comforting word, a safe space. I wanted to be the person who did not break the trust of those who opened up to me about their struggles. Balancing my academics with my personal struggles was not easy. There were days when I felt like giving up, but I persevered. I learned to turn my struggles into my strength. I learned to channel my experiences into my studies, using them as a driving force to excel acadically. This is reflected in my high school GPA of 3.86 and my college GPA of 3.7. As an Education major, I hope to incorporate mental health awareness and support into the educational system. I believe that by educating young minds about mental health, we can create a more empathetic and understanding society. It is my dream to create an environment where students feel safe to express their feelings, where they are not judged for their struggles but are met with support and understanding. Applying for the Elijah's Helping Hand Scholarship Award is not just about financial help for me. It is about aligning myself with an organization that values and understands the importance of mental health. It is about being part of a community that strives to make a difference in the lives of those affected by mental health issues. In conclusion, my journey with mental health has shaped me into the person I am today. It has taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of understanding and supporting those struggling with their mental health. I am not just a student of Education and Psychology; I am a survivor, an advocate, and a voice for those silently battling their own minds. I believe that my experiences and my passion make me a strong candidate for the Elijah's Helping Hand Scholarship Award.
    Good People, Cool Things Scholarship
Finding the right playlist and a comfy spot, I start typing away, planning my characters, and sketching out storylines. Now comes the part where I need to bug my friend to make sure he's not just drowning in coffee but actually working on his part. The story will only work if both of us finish our pieces of the planning. The phone rings a few times before I am greeted with the usual “Howdy there.” We start the conversation as we normally do, checking in on each other and making small talk. But soon, we shift to what we're supposed to be doing: story planning. Turns out, he's got yet another cup of coffee without making much progress on his side. Classic. I should have seen it coming. Writing is a passion I wish I had more time for. College life keeps me constantly busy, making it hard to find time to sit down and write. An extra hour or two in the day would be much appreciated. But writing is more than just a hobby to me; it's a way to share experiences with the world. The books I read teach me things, and I want my writing to do the same for others. Books can impact a person’s life in small and large ways; I know they have for me. A significant reason I enjoy writing is that I wish to share and help others through my stories. My stories are not only for those who can relate to them, but also for those who might not. They have a chance to learn from them instead. Stories can make the world seem less crazy, unlike the real world that's always changing in unpredictable ways. Writing helps clear up issues and create understanding, provided the book is not a mystery novel. All that being said, a good story needs a cup of tea (and some water), a comfy sweatshirt paired with comfy jeans, and something to write on. Though I prefer writing on a laptop, sometimes my phone or a spare piece of paper is what is easiest to use. As long as I have my earbuds and music to drown out the noise, I'm set to write. "Okay, should we meet up? I think I'll actually get stuff done if you're there watching me." I laugh, answering, "Sure thing. I just need to grab another tea. See you in 10.”

Blue is the name of the two-year-old Alaskan Klee Kai who lives with me and my family. If you don't know what an Alaskan Klee Kai is, I don't blame you. They are considered a newer bread in the world of dogs and the moment that put this breed in the spotlight was when Bill Belichick's Klee Kai, Nike, made a special appearance in the 2020 NFL draft. In simple words, look up a picture of these cuties and if not, just imagine a mini version of a Huskey. But what role does Blue play in our family? He is my little brother who I love with my whole heart. He is always there for a snuggle (or hug if you can get him up on his hind legs) and seems to know when you need a distraction from homework. The sound of my door being pushed open with his nose always makes me stop what I'm doing and turn towards him. Blue then runs from the room, making me go after him to make sure he doesn't cause too much trouble. He decides whether it is time to play or he just wanted to give me some kisses when we make it into my dad's room. When I don't feel like smiling, just simply seeing him makes me happier. His soft fur provides comfort when I need something to ground me. His kisses make me laugh when I feel sad. His little talking barks bring so much joy to not only me but everyone in the house. Blue is not only a comfort to me, but to everyone in the house. We are so thankful that Blue came into our lives. He has brought so much joy and life into our house, from the endless sock stealing to the interruptions for his talking. He has made us all happier. Thank God for his impact, especially since we adopted him during Covid when spirits were running low. I know all of this is just me gushing about my dog, but he has done so much for me and my family. He is the best little baby brother I could ask for. I hope that everyone gets the chance to feel the joy that owning a pet brings. It may be a lot of work with the poop scoping and constant brushing (thanks to the Huskey genes), but Blue has immensely made our lives better and we thank him every chance we get for being such an amazing addition to our family.
    Greg Lockwood Scholarship
What do I want to see change in this world? So much. I want justice for the lives that have been taken without reason. I want justice for those who are afraid of those around them. I want justice for the kids who fear their parents. I want justice for the people who are not allowed to show who they are. I want justice for those who are now unable to live comfortably because of their finances. I want justice for the kids who were kicked out or ran away because it was too dangerous to stay. I want justice for all those who have been wronged. Justice is not fair though, rarely does it treat people nicely. The world is such a broken place, no amount of glittery tv editing can change the reality we live in. So why not show the injustice? We see the results of those acts, but do nothing to help. Any effort to help those in need is not taken seriously, instead, there are just donation buckets waiting to be filled in every store. Stories of people acting on their dreams and desires of making to world a better place flood the media, but they are few and far between. We hear about the horrible deeds of people and the disasters of nature instead of the generosity of people who act out of the norm. Why are these fantastic acts not talked about more? Why do we live in such an evil world? The kids growing up in this digital world have to see the horrors of the evils around them. Some may say this is a good thing, that kids are learning the truth of reality sooner, but others say we are desensitized to violence. We grew up hearing the news on the tv; the stories of murder, assault, suicide. We grew up with those stories around us. But the stories we read were different. Our generation will change things because of what we read. The countless stories of rebellion and change. Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, Divergent, Percy Jackson were all books that we grew up with. They all led us to where we are now: a generation born to change things. So yes, there may be issues we can not fix, yet. But we will get there. We are stronger than people anticipate because we are not desensitized to the violence around us, rather carefully observing it and we are ready to use the knowledge we have to show the world our strength. What do I want to see change? Everything. I'll happily be part of the generation that makes those changes too.

"Keep looking for more scholarships." That is what I've been hearing from my parents for the past few months, along with many other college-related statements. I may be well off for college, but that does not that I don't need any scholarships that I can win. So after entering as many no-essay scholarships as I could, it was time to write as much as I could. As I started writing for scholarships, I realized that many wanted me to share part of my story with them, something I am not used to doing. My story has always been something personal that I did not like to share, and still am not comfortable sharing certain parts of it. But, I also know that every time I write out that story and share that piece of me, it means I have a chance to share my story with those I meet in the future. My future plan is to become a high school teacher. I wish to help teens grow into the adults they are meant to be. But that requires sharing pieces of my story with them. Writing all these scholarship essays is just practice for what is to come in the future. Sharing small pieces of my story now is helping me feel more comfortable sharing those pieces in real life, not just on a screen. So scholarships have not only asked me to share about myself but have helped me become more comfortable with my own story and how I have failed in the past and how I have grown. All those no-essay scholarships were only me taking a shot in the dark, not knowing if I would be randomly selected for however much the award money was. They were just the warm-up to what I am doing now, my assurance that I could have a possible plan to fall back on if writing essay after essay failed. So far, I have had no success with the backup plan, so this plan has to work. Now I am writing essays in hopes that someone relates to my story and will award me even a few pennies to help me accomplish my goals. And so far, nothing, but I will keep writing to see if anyone will reward me for the work I am putting in. What I have realized is that you need to put the effort into sharing your story with others because just taking shots in the dark will get you nowhere. The work will be worth it, at some point.
    Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
Mental health never seemed like a big deal. The topic never came up in any conversation I had, but why would such a heavy topic be talked about to young children? Of course, that changed. I was blissfully unaware of a long-time friend being admitted to a psychiatric ward because of an eating disorder. Sadly, that school year was last 'normal' year. My parents announced their divorce right before the summer leading up to high school. Having never faced such hardship (I was the kid who lived in a perfect world), things started going wrong. I have yet to be diagnosed with any mental illnesses or disorders, mostly because I waited so long to ask for therapy, but possibly in the future, I will be able to say that I have this disorder and that is why I do this. But how has my experience going through such things influenced me? I had never had aspirations of having biological children, but I now wish to foster teenagers who are on their last chance or need help that others have neglected to give them. I hope to provide these young adults with a safe place to express themselves and feel comfortable sharing anything burdening them with me or someone else in the house. I hope they can come to me and tell me they are hurting or someone has hurt them in the past. I hope they come to me when they have a bad day and tell me everything. Part of this dream has become reality as I started studying psychology, both on my own and in school. Hopefully, I get the chance to continue learning this fantastic field of science and maybe teach the information to the younger generation. If the university I attend does not have a program that allows me to learn how to teach psychology, I will double major in an education field and psychology in order to make that aspiration come to life. What about my relationships? They have definitely been affected by having to watch as my parents, people I thought to be in love, separate. My trust is not given easily anymore. Someone might think they know me, but in reality, they know the persona I present to them. I have lost a few friendships due to the struggles I have and still am going through, but I have not made many new friends during this time. Those that I did lose were people I had never been close with, but that does not mean that I did not value them as friends. Those who stuck around fall into two categories: those who have my trust and those who are earning my trust. While the walls are breaking down, some people may never see who I truly am, something sad to think about, but when your trust has been broken in such a way, it can not always be fixed perfectly. As for the effect of my past on my beliefs, I now strongly believe that if I can help someone who is in need I will. Part of what I believe now is that everyone deserves a chance to live a life without having to go through something that leads them to believe that they are not worth being themself. My actions are to benefit others and attempt to right some of the wrongs in this broken world. Thank you for reading part of my story. Hopefully, as my story continues, things will do as I hope and I can help people in need. But, for now, I will try my best and keep healing so I can present myself the best I can as I prepare for the future.

So Stand We need to keep going Keep persevering through the challenges and hardships Because one day Our children will say Look at our parents They fought the good fight To save our lives To help those in need To support everyone To make this broken world a little more healed So don’t stop trying Keep going Think of the change we are going to make Every night, every light That shines out will be our legacy The history that we create Not one where we caved to the powers above But one where we fought for our daughter and sons Wherever you are, Whoever you are, Whatever you are, Keep fighting to see the light That little light at the end of the tunnel Watch it grow as time never slows Because one day we will be sharing our stories saying, I was there I did that I made a difference And you can too So don’t give up the good fight Everything is going to turn out alright It will be better Better than today, yesterday, and the days before Better than the stories we hear blaring on the news every day Better than pictures and videos Better than ideas on a page They will be real The fight is won because we will always fight So stand knowing that one small step leads us closer to the brightest future
    Ms. Susy’s Disney Character Scholarship
My opinion: Disney was better 10 years ago when I was little. I grew up on the classic movies of Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast, and Cars, among many others. That is not to say that the new Disney movies, the Disney Decoms, are not good, but the originals are superior. While I adore Emma Watson's performance as Belle, I will always see her as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series. Giving Jasime the agency to take charge of her story was a brilliant idea, but some of the comedy of the story was lost. And while Mushu was missed in the new Mulan, the story left viewers with a sense of strength. While the live-action remake of such Disney classics has turned out fantastic and has empowered a new generation, there is something about the Disney animation pre-2000s that is nostalgic. Out of that long description, here is the answer to the question: What is your favorite Disney charter and why? I love Belle from Beauty & the Beast Belle always reminded me of myself: brown hair, pale skin, bookworm, kind, gentle. Yet, now when I tell people that my favorite Disney Princess, I get the question: "Is it because you share a name with the actress?". No. No, that is not the reason she is my favorite. As I stated before, I adore Emma Watson, but she is not the reason I fell in love with Belle. While I might not live in a small town, my elementary school was small, leading to me believing the town was. Younger me was also reading every book with a pretty cover -- older me is trying to spark that love for reading again. Our appearances are similar, maybe that is why I was drawn to her most. Either way, Belle is beautiful and reminds me of myself and nothing is better than a classic Disney movie with some candy and hot chocolate on a winter night.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. It is hard, but if you get lost, just ask someone. This also applies to assignments during the year. Most teacher are willing to help you when things are not going right. If there is something going on in your life that is interfering with school or there is just too much school work, email or talk to one (or more) of your teachers, more often than not they will work with you to make sure you can do everything in a timely manner and still succeed.
