Bio

Hello! My name is Emma and I am fascinated by anything to do with psychology and researching mental health. I am a freshman at Hill College and plan to transfer to a 4-year university after earning my associates. I am majoring in psychology, and want to eventually have a career in mental health. I also hope to get involved with research and science within the field of psychology in hopes of helping further this field and helping those affected by mental health. I just graduated high school this past year and was heavily involved in band and music. I still love listening to music almost every day, especially when I get to jam out with my two orange, crazy cats who don't always want to play along. I also love being around and spending time with my family, playing games, reading and writing, watching movies, and coloring (even though I sadly can't draw). I have had many accomplishments throughout my educational journey so far, including becoming a published author in middle school and receiving various academic awards for my hard work both in high school and now in college. Overall, I am super excited about what this next chapter of my life has to offer! I can't wait to see where life will take me and who I'll become. Thank you so much for your consideration!

Hello! My name is Emma, and I play the flute, love cats, and enjoy listening to music and playing games in my free time. Other than hanging out and jamming with my cats, I am about to wrap up my freshmen year at Hill College, and I am very excited and proud to be able to say that I am majoring in psychology. Ever since I was a freshman in high school, I have had a strong passion for almost anything relating to psychology. This actually started all thanks to the Myers-Briggs Personality Test, which I had to take for an assignment in one of my classes. After answering various questions about your personality and social life, the results of this test not only discuss your personality type but also what career path may be right for you. I distinctly remember getting my results and being confused when I saw "psychology and counseling" on my list of probable career paths because I honestly don't think I ever truly knew what the term psychology meant. Nevertheless, after doing a bit of quick research, I became really intrigued by this field, which I believed was all dedicated to studying the mind, and why people do what they do. Today, now that I have started college and actually begun studying psychology, I have grown to realize that it is so much more than what I previously thought, which makes me all that much more excited to someday work in this field. Having a career in psychology is not just about studying our minds and actions, but also advocating for mental health and helping people, which is exactly what I want to spend my life doing. I am not completely sure what exact career I will end up pursuing just yet, but I am certain that I want to help people and make a real change, specifically in the way mental health is viewed in our society. There is and has always been such a negative stigma surrounding mental health, and even if this may sound impossible or over-ambitious of me to say, I hope that by dedicating myself to the mental health and psychology fields, whether that be through research or counseling, I can help reduce or even eliminate this stigma. I believe that big change starts with small actions, and whether I make a difference to one or thousands of people in my career and life, I am determined to leave this world a better place. This is why this field has stuck out so much to me over the years, and also why I have such an undeniable passion for this subject. No matter how long, grueling, or stressful my journey to accomplishing my goals is, I am determined to advocate for mental health, and for people, and to ultimately help this world become a more accepting, warmer, place for all of us.
