Bio

I want to go to college to pursue a degree in environmental science and then work in the field to help reduce the impact of climate change and help others find a way to contribute as well. I am a very good student, I get all my work done on time and to the best of my ability. I am also very passionate about photography in which I have a job with a photo company.

After I graduate from Klahowya Secondary School this year, I plan to complete my second internship with the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group, where I will further my knowledge in Environmental Science and Marine Science and get my foot further in the door. In the fall, I am going to attend Olympic College for two years, where I will complete my prerequisites and earn an associates degree before transferring to Western Washington University on the Peninsula to study and earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. During college, I will complete internships and volunteer opportunities where I can work in the field and labs with scientists to expand my knowledge and open my options for after college. After graduating from college, I plan to pursue a career in the Environmental Science field and work for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife or the Department of Natural Resources, where I will be performing work not only in labs, but out in the field. My goals are to work alongside scientists to collect, sample, and analyze data that can be used for restoration, understanding how our climate is changing, and how change is affecting our environment. I aspire to work specifically in the marine field and conduct research on eelgrass and eelgrass restoration. I will analyze the data to look at the growth and presence of eelgrass in specific areas. Eelgrass serves as a keystone species, which allows us to look at patterns found at a specific site in the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. I will also perform surveys on birds and specific species found in and near eelgrass beds. I want to inspire children and adults to be part of the change that will help reduce climate change and teach them how to reduce their carbon footprint and how just little actions will help in the long run.
