The major I have picked is Criminology. I picked this major because I want to learn why criminals do what they do and why crimes are so high. I took a criminology dual enrollment class, which gave me so much knowledge; now I want to learn more. A criminology major can be good with a lot of jobs. For me, I was going for being a Lawyer but then I wanted to look into more jobs around the criminology major. For example, detective, private investigator, and many more. A criminology major can get me far and probably more money to help my parents. This major has been my passion for about three years now because of all the movies and articles about crime.
Some adversities that I have overcome are financial problems and the feeling of being lost. I know financial problems should not be a problem to me but it was, seeing my parents struggle and trying to do everything they can broke my heart. There are five of us living together: my mom, my dad, my two brothers, and me. I overthink that we might not have enough money for college or we might have to take out loans just in case the scholarships are not enough. Another difficulty was the feeling of being lost. This started my sophomore year when we had to move out of the house because my landlord getting sick, we moved in with some family, and also my best friend had betrayed me. I felt so lost and alone like I had no one to talk to about everything. Just a year ago I got into section 8 and found an apartment. My parents were struggling with money I thought we were not good. I felt lost about college like if we had enough for it or where am I going to go. I have overcome this by not stressing about it and trusting my parents.
These experiences have helped me grow as an individual by learning to not stress so much because I have felt so lost and I do not want to feel that anymore. These experiences helped me realize that there are going to be problems in life, you just have to overcome them and not think too much of them. This helped me grow as a better person and showed that there is a time to be stressed but not over someone else's stress.
