What song has the most important message to me? Choosing one song out of the millions of songs produced is a difficult decision to make. However, out of those millions of songs, only some of them touch home and make you feel a pulse inside. It’s like the singer's voice and lyrics are fully connected with you and lifting you from your heart. For me, this song that makes me feel fully submerged and connected to the piece would be The Night We Met by Lord Huron.
Now, although the main message that people take from it would be a broken love song between the composer and a lover, I connect with it in a similar but different way. There is still a relationship that I take from it, but instead of it being a lover, it is a friendship. So, for me, this message is between a friend and me. We were practically like sisters and then, suddenly; we stopped socializing with each other. I lost that sister bond with my best friend. Why couldn’t time go back to when she and I were conquering the world together? “Take me back to the night we met” (Huron 0:52). I was there for her when she was at her lowest. “And your eyes were filled with tears” (Huron 2:04). The lines of lyrics in that song all paint not only an image but a feeling in my mind. The overall message is, I miss my best friend and I want to build that friendship back. That is the most important message in a song to me.
