I plan to graduate from Lander University with my master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management in less than 5 years in their master's program. I am very passionate about the sport I play, which is rugby. I started playing it in my sophomore year of high school and am continuing it in college for as long as possible. My parents have been divorced for as long as I can remember, and I know helping them, mostly my dad, with paying for college helps tremendously.

Anderson Women's Rugby Scholarship
Rugby family to me means always having each other‘s backs. That whatever you’re doing in the moment, you know you have the support of your teammates around you, the support of your coach, and that you can always go to someone for help or to lift your spirits. The bond that you can make with a team playing rugby is so nice. You get so close to people while playing, because you’re so focused on the sport that they become so involved in your life that they become family. Yeah, your main objective while playing rugby is to play the sport and hopefully win, cause who doesn’t like winning, but the camaraderie in Rugby is just amazing. On my high school team and now my college team, I have gotten so close with the girls on it, and watching them grow as players and as people, while I also grow, is just amazing to see. You guys go through stuff together, you go through wins and losses, rough patches, but you know your team has your back, and that's what they want from you is just to be yourself and to be the best version of you that you can. I’m still close with my old teammates and coaches from my high school team, and I know I am welcome to visit them anytime. As for my college team now, I’ve only played with them for one year now and the team chemistry is nice and light, and it makes me excited to play with them again in the fall. I miss them in the summer like how I miss my family when I’m away at school.
As for my hopes for playing rugby in college, when I graduated from high school, I was already committed to where I wanted to play in college. I was a forward all my life, and was even the forward captain my senior year of high school, until I got to college and the new coach put me in the back line our first week of preseason. I was honestly surprised at that because I did not think I’d ever be in the backline, but it gave me a challenge, and I’ll always go wherever my coach asks me and learn anything about the sport that I didn’t already know to become a better and more diverse player.
Throughout my freshman year, our team had to grow and learn together to become a good team, and we sure did. I had a few injuries throughout the season as well, but it’s just given me new goals and hopes for the future, and to see how our team will continue to grow even more. My hopes for my future in my career of collegiate rugby are to learn how to kick with my left foot because I can’t kick with my right foot anymore, to become even more confident in my position on the field and what decisions I make, and to continue showing the leadership that my coach sees in me.
