Bio

My goal is to become a nurse who supports and advocates for patients the way I once needed during my cancer journey. Surviving metastatic breast cancer taught me the value of compassionate care and ignited my passion to provide that same hope to others. As a full-time teacher and nursing student, I have learned to be patient, resilient, and committed to serving others. I work to make a difference every day in the classroom, and I am determined to continue making a difference at the bedside. My lived experience, dedication, and desire to give back make me a strong candidate who will bring empathy and strength to the nursing profession.

    American Dream Scholarship for Nurses
My journey toward becoming a nurse has been shaped by both challenges and triumphs. As a single mother, a full-time teacher, a student, and a cancer survivor, I have learned resilience, patience, and the importance of compassionate care. These experiences have strengthened my determination to pursue a nursing degree and deepened my understanding of what it means to truly serve others. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, my life changed in ways I could never have imagined. During that time, it was the nurses who stood beside me—not only managing my treatments, but also offering comfort, encouragement, and dignity. Their compassion left a lasting mark on me and inspired me to follow in their footsteps. Surviving cancer taught me that healing is not only about medicine; it is also about human connection and trust. These are the qualities I hope to bring to my patients. As a single mother, I have learned the importance of balance, sacrifice, and determination. Providing for my family while pursuing my education has required strength and discipline, but it has also fueled my motivation. I want to show my child that perseverance can overcome obstacles, and that dedication to a greater purpose is always worth the struggle. My role as a mother has taught me to be patient, compassionate, and a strong advocate—qualities that will guide me as a nurse. My career as a teacher has also shaped my path. Teaching has taught me how to listen deeply, encourage others, and empower people through education. Balancing motherhood, work, and school has not been easy, but it has reinforced my belief that every challenge can be turned into an opportunity for growth. Looking ahead, I want to use my nursing degree to give back to my community in meaningful ways. I hope to serve not only in hospitals, but also in community settings where education and advocacy are most needed. Too many people face barriers to healthcare, especially in underserved populations. I want to bridge that gap by promoting health awareness, providing preventive education, and advocating for resources that improve long-term outcomes. My goal is to be a nurse who does more than treat illness. I want to empower individuals and families to live healthier lives. This scholarship represents more than financial assistance; it represents a chance for me to continue a journey built on resilience, service, and purpose. By supporting my education, you are helping me transform my experiences as a single mother, survivor, teacher, and student into a career dedicated to healing, advocacy, and compassion.
