      Margot Bogner Memorial Scholarship
When reading about Margot Bogner and the amazing impact that she had not only on Kansas State University but on her community as a whole, I felt extremely inspired. I knew that I wanted to become involved immediately on campus, and Margot embodied everything that I desire for my own college experience. The first step that I took to become involved on campus was joining Gamma Phi Beta. Gamma Phi’s four core values are love, labor, learning, and loyalty, and I knew that I wanted to surround myself with women with whom I could share these values. The philanthropic focus of Gamma Phi is Building Strong Girls, and each year we actively support the Girls on the Run 5K. Taking part in my first 5K this winter was very rewarding, and seeing the bright smiles on the young girls’ faces as they ran inspired me to want to become even more involved within my sorority. I was also a member of the REAL Wellness Committee. The purpose of this committee was to promote mental health and wellness during finals week. We facilitated different activities such as yoga, an ornament exchange, and writing notes for members of our sorority. It meant a lot to be able to give back to a group of women that I admire so wholeheartedly. I am currently the Parliamentarian of our Chapter, which involves maintaining proper parliamentary procedure for Chapter meetings and coordinating Chapter education on parliamentary procedure to ensure that all members are well informed. While I am very passionate about being an involved member of Gamma Phi, I am also involved in other organizations on campus. During my second semester here at K-State, I went through rigorous interview processes for both Student Foundation and Student Alumni Board. Being a member of Student Foundation and Student Alumni Board is very important to me because the members of these organizations are leaders on campus that have the opportunity to make a difference in students’ lives. During my first semester, I immediately fell in love with the pride that our students have for the university, and I wanted to have the opportunity to give back to such an amazing student body. Being a member of Student Foundation and Student Alumni Board will allow me to do this by working with passionate alumni members that share my values and goals. Not only do I want to promote the well-being of students here on campus, but I also want to give back to the Manhattan community as a whole, which is why I am a member of Silver Key Sophomore Honorary. Silver Key is a service-based organization that is focused on impacting the community through projects such as highway cleanups, promoting mental health, and spending time with the Boys and Girls Club. As important as it is to be involved in a variety of organizations, my main priority has always been my academics, and have maintained a 4.0 GPA for both semesters of my freshman year, earning academic honors in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Because of my outstanding academic work, I was also selected as Gamma Phi’s academic member of the month. Margot Bogner emulated everything that I believe means to be an empowered woman, and is someone who I strive to encapsulate. It is my goal to become a school counselor and promote the mental well-being of teens, and driven women such as Margot remind me why I am pursuing a helping profession. It is my dream to make a difference in people’s lives, just as Margot did in the lives of her clients.
