Norman C. Nelson IV Memorial Scholarship
Hi! My name in Emily Medina I am a very hard working driven individual who wants to make a great impact in healthcare whether that may be finding a way to lower costs making it affordable to every individual, bring healthcare around the world with easy access, and/or create more preventable measures to stop diseases before they start. I have been very attracted to healthcare from a very young age, my sister has gone into the medical field and she has always been someone I aspire to be like and look up to. When I was very young I used to color and study medical anatomy books. This was when I first realized I wanted to know everything to know about the human body. My journey into healthcare has just started with my acceptance to Carroll college and plan to study nursing/ pre-medicine along side playing soccer at the next level. I am also currently working on my senior project and volunteering at my local hospital for mentor hours. This experience has shown me that this is my true passion to help those in need and to become the best in my field of study. The opportunity to make a tangible difference in people's lives during some of their most vulnerable moments. Whether it's providing comfort to a patient in pain, offering hope to someone facing a challenging diagnosis, or simply being a supportive presence for those in need, the ability to positively impact the well-being of others is incredibly rewarding to me. In terms of my greatest accomplishments thus far, one that stands out is being the varsity soccer captain. This achievement was one of my many goals during my high school education. I had wanted to be captain since I was a freshman and looked up to my sister who was also a varsity captain in two sports. I had worked day and night to show my skills and communication to accomplish this achievement. This may seem as a small accomplishment but for me this was a very big building block in my like experiences learning hard work, communication, and drive. These accomplishments have not only bolstered my confidence and reinforced my passion for healthcare but have also taught me the value of perseverance, dedication, and teamwork. As I continue on my journey towards a career in healthcare, I am excited about the opportunities to learn, grow, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. In conclusion, receiving this scholarship would not only alleviate the financial burden of pursuing my educational dreams but also serve as a beacon of validation for the hard work and dedication I have invested in my academic journey. Thank you for considering my application and for the opportunity to share my aspirations with you.

Daniel R. Torres "Complete Your Dream” Memorial Scholarship
My dream is to become a medical doctor specializing in global health. Inspired by Daniel's mantra, "Complete Your Dream," I'm committed to achieving this goal, no matter the challenges. Here are the steps I'm taking to realize this dream and the impact it will have: 1. I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Pre-Medical Studies at Carroll College, focusing on biology and public health. Next, I plan to attend medical school to obtain my MD degree, followed by specialized training in global health. 2.Through my program at Carroll I'm actively seeking internships and volunteer opportunities in healthcare settings, both locally and internationally. I will be able to seek opportunities internationally by taking a semester abroad and gin more volunteer experience. These experiences allow me to gain practical skills, understand diverse healthcare systems, and directly impact underserved communities around the world . 3. I aim to contribute to medical research, particularly in areas related to infectious diseases, healthcare disparities, and access to essential medicines. By conducting research and fostering innovation, I hope to develop sustainable solutions to improve healthcare outcomes worldwide. I will use my experiences to help narrow down what peak my interest most and what I believe to be the most impactful area for the world. 4. I believe in the power of community engagement and collaboration. Through initiatives such as health education programs, medical missions, and advocacy campaigns, I aim to empower individuals and communities to take charge of their health and well-being. If/when I become successful I hope to give back to communities around the world. 5. Ultimately, I aspire to become a leader in the field of global health, advocating for policies that prioritize health equity, social justice, and sustainable development. By leveraging my skills, knowledge, and networks, I aim to create meaningful change on a global scale. Giving back to those in need and giving them resources to take care of themselves as well as others. I think one of my greater aspirations is to globally lower the cost of healthcare and bring healthcare system to those who don't have access. By pursuing my dream of becoming a medical doctor specializing in global health, I aim to not only fulfill my personal aspirations but also positively impact the lives of people around the world. Through education, research, community engagement, and leadership, I seek to contribute to a healthier, more equitable future for all. In conclusion, receiving this scholarship would not only alleviate the financial burden of pursuing my educational dreams but also serve as a beacon of validation for the hard work and dedication I have invested in my academic journey. Thank you for considering my application and for the opportunity to share my aspirations with you.
