    Be A Vanessa Scholarship
Becoming a nurse has always been something I have strived for throughout my high school years. My desire to become a nurse has flourished as I have grown older and realized how proud my parents will be. I would love to explain why your scholarship would be very beneficial to me, my education, and my ability to make a difference in the world. I have been working at my local nursing home for quite some time. While working in healthcare, my interest in working in the medical field has grown tremendously. I have developed a deep passion for caring for others physically and mentally. I have confidence in my abilities to be able to give the best care to all patients. It is very common for people to feel anxious about going to clinics, hospitals, or receiving any type of care. My goal as a nurse is to help people feel comfortable and satisfied while receiving care. I aim to be the nurse that can put a smile on each of my patients’ faces and leave a positive impact on them. With my personality, I am very compassionate the minute I see someone, whether they’re a stranger or not. As a nurse, I believe that I can make a positive impact in healthcare as I work with love and compassion. Growing up, I saw a huge amount of love and hard work from my parents. My parents took the chance to move to the United States from Zimapan, Hidalgo. With these circumstances, my parents didn’t have the opportunity to attend college and earn a degree. I am the youngest sibling of four. My two older siblings were in the military and were able to have their college education paid for, which helped my parents out substantially. However, my third sister chose to go to a four-year university to also pursue nursing. With her tuition being high, my parents are still currently paying for it. My parents are the most hardworking people I’ve ever met and are so selfless when it comes to my siblings and me. My parents moved here to live the American dream, and there is no bigger dream than to see their four children succeed in life. Since I am the last of my siblings to graduate high school and begin college, they are so close to seeing this dream come true. Thank you so much for considering me for this scholarship.

My name is Emily Garcia and I am a 17 year old senior at Vernon High School. Throughout high school, I have been involved in Cheerleading, PALS, Key Club, Dual Credit, The Superintendent Advisory Committee, and Project Celebration. I would consider myself to be a very social person and I love to be involved with my community. During my junior year, I earned my Certified Nurses Aide license. I am currently taking a Patient Care Technician course through Vernon College. After high school, I plan to attend Vernon College to earn my Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Following my Associate’s Degree, I plan to earn my Bachelor’s Degree at Midwestern State University. Growing up, I have developed a passion for caring for others mentally and physically. I also consider myself to be very supportive and I love to help others in any way I can. I want to be the nurse that can put a smile on each of my patient’s faces and leave a positive impact with them. With my personality, I am very compassionate the minute I see someone, whether they’re a stranger or not. I have confidence in my abilities to be able to give the best care to patients. As someone who is also a mentor to children through the PALS program, I would love to be able to work with children. I plan to become a neonatal nurse. With this career, I get to care for babies post-birth and even get to care for their mothers. As a nurse, I believe that I can make a positive impact in healthcare as I work with love and compassion. Therefore, I feel that becoming a nurse is the right career for me. As the daughter of immigrant parents, I want to make my parents proud of the life they helped me build. They took the risk to move to Vernon, Texas from their hometown, Zimapan, Hidalgo. With these circumstances, my parents didn’t have the opportunity to attend college and earn a degree. They are doing an amazing job as parents and they are my inspiration. I want to face challenges instead of avoiding them. I am determined to face all the challenges that come with college and working in healthcare. I am committed to making my parents proud of all my accomplishments. With the help of your scholarship, I can work hard towards my nursing degree and make a difference in healthcare.
