I have been passionate about school since I was young. My parents worked in schools, my sister and I played school often, and it was one of my favorite places to be. Growing up, my heart was stuck between the arts and school, but I finally decided I wanted to teach English, especially English Literature, to high school students. Currently, I am pursuing my bachelor's degree in Middle/Secondary English. However, I have many other hobbies and interests. I teach dance at a local studio where I danced for sixteen years myself, I participate in an improv club on campus, and I volunteer at local social justice-based events in the central Maine area. I also work as a stage manager in the summers. I'm from a very small town in central Maine, with five younger siblings, so community is central to my life. As a teacher, my philosophy lives so heavily on student voice/choice in education, developing appreciation for all forms of English media, as well as making sure teachers serve as sounding boards, allowing students to explore and make mistakes. I am currently heading into my sophomore year, and can't wait to see how much I learn in the process.
