I am actively involved in my school and community, I participate in cheerleading, dance, church events, and student council, always striving to create a positive impact wherever I can.

Pursuing my educational goals has always been a priority for me, but financially, it's always been a significant challenge. Being a first-generation college graduate will make me and my family extremely proud. I'm deeply involved in community service, including volunteering for the Holmdel Police Department, local library, farm, and school events. I've gained a deep appreciation for public services, responsibility, and hard work. However, balancing these commitments while preparing for college makes it extremely infuriating due to financial constraints. I am an only child with a single mother who has limited financial flexibility to provide me with the support that she so heartily wants to give to me, including tuition, books, and living expenses. While I remain committed to contributing to my community and pursuing higher education, I feel overwhelmed. Receiving this scholarship would alleviate my concerns and help me focus on my academic goals rather than the stress of affording them. As an individual with the Seal of Biliteracy in Portuguese, I assist non-English speakers in my community. I've seen firsthand how education can uplift people and bridge gaps in life. With this scholarship, I can pursue my degree and return to my community with better ways to serve, support, and inspire others. There are many times when my actions have had a positive impact on others while expanding my community involvement. My experience with the Holmdel Police Department has taught me remarkable things about the challenges and benefits of public service. I have volunteered at several community events in the past, helping with crowd control, directing people, and ensuring the attendees' safety. Each of these events improved my knowledge of law enforcement and my compassion for the dedicated, committed, and resourceful people who are our local officers. In addition to these efforts, I continue to help my school community through student council activities, organizing events for students and faculty. I also take part in clothing drives, donating items and raising awareness of why donating clothing to someone in need is important, and encouraging sustainable practices for us and our community members who may not have the resources we do. I also have the opportunity to contribute to my community through my volunteer activities at the local library and at a farm. While I sometimes volunteer at the library, I mostly put books away, help customers find the resources they need, and assist staff. While I volunteer at the farm, I help care for the animals, clean the grounds, and assist with any needs. I gained a lot of experience at these places, which have given me skills and a sense of responsibility for caring for the environment and animals. In all my community service experiences, it is essential to emphasize the importance of service, even if it is not through volunteer hours, organizations, or groups. We can all do our part to make our community better while also understanding different perspectives on societal budgets, safety, and cultural perspectives.

I’m a very dedicated student when it comes to education and athletics and helping my community but financially, it's always been a significant challenge. I'm a person who is deeply involved in community service. I'm in the Academy of Law and Public Safety school where the instructors give me more knowledge about law enforcement. There are many times my actions had positive impacts on other people while expanding on my community involvement, my experience with the Holmdel Police Department has taught me remarkable things about the challenges and benefits of public service. I have volunteered at several community events, helping with crowd control, directing people, and ensuring the attendees' safety. Each of these events improved my knowledge of law enforcement and my compassion for the dedicated, committed, and resourceful people who are our local officers. I have also been involved in several other efforts to promote awareness and sensibility in my community. As a fluent Portuguese speaker with the Seal of Biliteracy, I am able to assist individuals who struggle with English by providing them the language capability they need. Whether it's facilitating conversations, or just acting as a friendly face, I enjoy working to create a more welcoming and inclusive community for all. In addition to these efforts I continue to help in my school community through student council organizing and offering different events for the students and faculty. I also take part in clothing drives where I donate items and help raise awareness about why donating clothing to someone in need is important and to also encourage sustainable practices for us and our community members who may not have the resources we may have access to. I am an only child with a single mother who has limited financial flexibility to provide me with the support that she so heartily wants to give to me like tuition, books, and living expenses. While I remain committed to contributing to my community and pursuing higher education, the weight of these financial pressures sometimes feels overwhelming. Receiving this scholarship would directly alleviate those concerns by helping me focus more on my academic goals and less on the stress of how to afford them. Education should never be out of reach for those who work hard and give back. I feel it is important to encourage the importance of service even if it is not with volunteer hours, organizations, or groups. And because I want to become a Police Officer I believe we can all do our part to make our community better while also understanding different perspectives on societal budgets with safety, cultural perspectives, and organizations like OUR community resources that help individuals in our community.

What I learned about the books I’ve read was to never stop reading and that it takes me to different world and letting me experience all sorts of emotions and ideas. They teach me about history, science, love, loss, and everything in between. Plus, reading helps me think critically and express myself better. A book for example that gave me inspiration to fight my battles and that not everyone has the same living conditions as me was the “The Kill of a Mockingbird”. There are many times my actions had positive impacts on other people while expanding on my community involvement, my experience with the Holmdel Police Department has taught me remarkable things about the challenges and benefits of public service.
