Hi! My name is Emilia. I was born and raised in Poland. I moved to the USA in 2020 when I turned 18, because I always wanted to speak english. And when, if not now? I moved to the US in my senior year in high school. My parents didn’t move here with me, I didn't speak any English and all I had was 2 months worth of rent paid and $300. But I had big dreams and I made it work. I even became a US citizen last year. I'm a proud dog owner. I love traveling and learning about new cultures. I graduated high school in 2021 and now I'm ready to continue my education and improve my English as I go.
I am excited to pursue Digital Marketing because it combines my passion for creativity and technology. The industry's rapid growth offers numerous opportunities for career development, and it's always learning and adapting, like me. I am enthusiastic about the global reach and customer engagement aspects. Moreover, digital marketing skills are essential for personal branding and can drive positive social change, which motivates me to contribute meaningfully to the field. I believe that digital marketing will only continue to become more and more important to the new world that computers have created. I intend to be on the front of the wave and drive my own path in this developing career.

Maggie's Way- International Woman’s Scholarship
Cześć! Jestem Emilka Gawron, 22-letnia studentką biznesu pochodząca z Polski!
I can’t help but feel both grateful and deeply connected to the challenges Maggie faced-
probably more so than most.
Reading Maggie’s story really hit home for me. I moved to the U.S. in 2020 out of necessity,
but I fully embraced my new life to pursue education, adventure, freedom, and a new
experiences.
I had just three days’ notice to pack up and leave everything I knew behind in Poland. My
family needed me to help take care of my brother, who was injured while pursuing
professional snowboarding in Colorado. My dad was determined that I finish my education
here, learn English, and help with his business. Going to school in the U.S. had always
been my dream, so with only 1200 zł ($300) and a handful of clothes, I moved to
Breckenridge, Colorado, to start a new life.
Though I was optimistic and full of ambition, it wasn’t easy—I was scared. I didn’t speak
any English, had little money, and was responsible for my brother’s recovery after a career-
ending injury. At the same time, I was never one to shy away from physical challenges.
While in high school, I worked in construction, building and painting houses, all while
taking care of my brother, snowboarding, and keeping up with my studies. Juggling these
responsibilities taught me resilience, time management, and how to push through even the
toughest days. Despite it all, I graduated with my high school diploma and, today, I’m in a
stable enough position to pursue my college education.
Like Maggie, I’m headstrong. I take on challenges with enthusiasm and actively seek out
adventure. Coming to the U.S. was the best thing that ever happened to me, and the
struggles and experiences along the way helped me realize that business is the path I want
to follow. Learning to connect with people, even with a language barrier, and experiencing
the American dream firsthand showed me the power of business. The hardest moments in
life hold the greatest growth potential, and I remind myself of this every day.
For many Polish people, the United States represents a land of endless opportunities
where hard work and determination lead to success. This belief comes from the idea that
the U.S. offers freedoms, resources, and possibilities that feel more limited in Poland.
Growing up, I never imagined my dreams could expand to the level they have now. I never
pictured myself working at a restaurant, earning tips to pay for my education, but I feel
empowered doing it. 18-year-old Emilka, unsure and unsure of where life was leading,
would be so proud to see how I’ve taken control of my life, education, and future, using the
circumstances I’ve faced to make the most of them.
One day, I will own my own business and use my skills to connect with people across the
globe. One of my biggest motivators is learning about people like Maggie and myself-
immigrants who took risks and faced challenges head-on, finding inspiration and success
along the way. When I first arrived in the U.S., it was people like Maggie who gave me the
confidence to pursue my dreams. Now, I hope to be that beacon of encouragement for
others.
Neal Hartl Memorial Sales/Marketing Scholarship
WinnerIt absolutely baffles me how unaware most people are about how marketing influences and impacts their lives on a daily basis. Marketing has gained a poor reputation with many people because of this powerful influence. Whether good or bad, it has such a profound relevance in our world today, I found it hard to ignore the calling I felt to it.
The center of marketing and sales is the ability to communicate effectively and build meaningful relationships. Since I was young, I have always been passionate about interacting with people and understanding their needs. This passion moved me across the world to The USA from Poland, and my first goal in moving here was to learn English. What better way to communicate with people than the most universal language in the world? I have learned so much about consumers, communicating, business, and building and maintaining relationships, since being here and working service-industry and sales jobs. Everything I learn makes me want to grow my understanding and use this knowledge for the benefit of the industry.
I've been inspired by so many success stories of people in the marketing industry. The reach of so many companies and successful campaigns inspires me to see just how far I can go and how many people I can help. I’ve watched my dad build his business for over 10 years- an environmentally friendly, sustainable, non-allergenic alternative to cat litter (Naturally Non-Allergic Cat Litter.) His product is incredible, and everyone who has sampled or tested it has been impressed, however his marketing for his product is subpar, and his growth and sales have suffered for it. This revealed to me that marketing is more than just selling products, it’s about creating experiences, building brands, and showing consumers how and why a product can improve their lives.
Thus, I believe that a job in marketing is never boring. It requires keeping up with changing trends, consumer behaviors and technological advancements. Environments where I can use my creative nature to develop new strategies and solve problems are where I feel most engaged. This field is so dynamic and ever evolving that it feels right at home to me. Technology and the digital transformation of businesses is changing everyday and I know that my studies will put me in a position to utilize these changes in powerful ways. Being far away from my home in Poland is not easy, however The USA is to the world how marketing is to consumerism- a powerhouse.
Ultimately, my desire to pursue a career in marketing is driven by the potential to make a difference and use the power of marketing for good. Effective marketing has the ability to sway consumer behavior and create positive impacts on society. Specifically, I want to focus on the power of digital consumerism and help drive the world to a more effective and safe path. I intend to help small businesses and businesses that leave a positive impact on the world have a fair shot of competing within the chaos of e-commerce. The nature of marketing is understanding people and I know that I can use my skills and understanding to do good.
In conclusion, my decision to pursue a career in marketing is established in my passion for creativity, inspiration and desire for growth. I'm excited about the opportunities this career path offers and I can't wait to see what the future holds for me. Thank you for your consideration!
