As a double major in Political Science and History at Trinity College in Connecticut, I have ambitions to graduate with honors in both fields. I wish to go to graduate school for Political Science, specifically in the fields of International Relations and Foreign Service. For my future endeavours, I currently am studying for the Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT) and the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). I am deeply passionate about politics, human rights, and diplomacy. Outside of education, I am on the Trinity College Women's Rowing Team, and I love to read and bake!

I have chosen to study abroad to expand my knowledge of the world beyond my experiences with my campus and hometown. The school I have chosen has an extensive list of classes that are specific to my academic interests, Political Science and History. I have the opportunity to look into new and different perspectives on topics I already know. They have multiple classes that specialize in different world regions in politics, allowing me to get a fully rounded perspective of the world. Academically, broadening my horizons by studying away will grant me an exposure that will sharpen my critical thinking and will force me to look at problems from angles I never would have considered otherwise. This experience will allow me to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, enhancing my ability to critically analyze and evaluate information. By immersing myself in a new environment, I will gain a deeper understanding of global issues and develop a more nuanced perspective on international relations, something that I am deeply passionate about. This is an incredible opportunity for me to grow as a scholar and as an individual, to challenge myself in ways that I never could at my current college, and to return home with a new perspective on the world and my place in it.
From my study abroad experience, I hope to gain new perspectives and understandings from the world. This will help me become a better person, which in turn will further my career after my undergraduate studies. I may even establish connections with like-minded individuals at my chosen place, who will aid me in my future endeavors in the fields of cultural exchange and international relations. Outside of academics, I am excited to immerse myself in a new culture and experience the unique customs and traditions of the country I will be studying in. By living in a foreign country, I will be able to learn about the history, politics, and culture of the country firsthand, which will allow me to develop a more nuanced understanding of the world and its complexities. This experience will also allow me to develop new skills such as language proficiency, independence, and self-reliance, which will benefit me in all aspects.
Professionally, employers notice that kind of adaptability. People who have studied abroad tend to be more comfortable with change and better at working with diverse teams. I hope to develop these assets and become more proactive and independent, as I will have become suited in a place that is not my home. In my opinion, these are exactly the skills that companies look for. By being able to navigate new situations, connect with people from all backgrounds, and keep calm when things don’t go as planned, I will be able to excel professionally. The skills I gain from studying abroad will open doors for me and provide me with the confidence to pursue job opportunities in a global setting. Studying abroad will allow me to stand out in a competitive job market and will give me an edge in terms of career opportunities.
In short, studying abroad would crack my world wide open. After studying abroad, I will return not just with new knowledge, but with a new sense of what I can handle and accomplish, something that will stick with me no matter where I end up in my future.
