I have several life goals. A few have already been achieved. I dual-enrolled at Santa Fe College in my junior year of high school. I was also able to graduate from high school a year early. I want to earn a master's degree in nursing and become a doctor of nurse practitioner. I am passionate about helping others as much as I can. Being a nurse will accomplish this.

Both my grandma and my mom are registered nurses. Since I was little, I've watched them dedicate themselves to their profession. They strive for helping others and I have begun to notice that I have the same feeling as they do.
I want to become a nurse for many reasons. For one, I feel like I already know so much about the medical field. In the past two years I have paid close attention to what my mom does on a day-to-day basis. In doing that, I have realized I don't want to specifically do what she does. As of right now my mom works for a home health care agency. However, she has worked in a lot of different healthcare facilities. This is another reason that the nursing field interests me, there is usually always a job opportunity. In the past couple of years there has been a shortage of nurses leading them to be in high demand. I am not in any means saying that it will always be like this but is has led to nurses having more job offers. Minus the shortage of nurses there is still a need for nurses.
My heart is not yet set on what area of nursing that I want to pursue. I have a few options that I have looked deeper into, one of them being a doctor of nurse practitioner. I am hoping once I am in the nursing program and begin to get some hands-on experience, that choosing what type of nurse I want to become will be a little bit of an easier decision. I am into action and being very involved, so I know that I would like to work in a hospital.
No matter what difficulties I may face, I am determined to be a nurse. I know this path I've chosen is not going to be the easiest however, I am truly excited to begin my future profession.
