As president of the youth council at my church home, I plan and create activities to encourage and support social and spiritual development. We are huge proponents of inspiring our youth to tap into their talents. Many of the youth are from socio-economic backgrounds that have not allowed them diverse experiences. They enjoy what we all do together and it is building a community of youth who will continue the work in years to come. Also, as a member of the Amnesty International group, we brought social issues around the world into view. Our goal is to inspire the teenagers of Riverside High School and adults in our circle and beyond to put action behind the change they would like to see. As I grew I didn't understand how different my circumstances could have been. I live two blocks over from a mass shooting that just rocked my community. I know I have been covered from the dangers of this world. It was my single mother who worked exceptionally hard to make sure I had what I needed so that I could prioritize my spiritual growth and my education. I want to be able to say that I was able to do what it takes to successfully begin and thrive in my college experience. These obstacles are generational. I see where I will still have to struggle to make ends meet in my college educational experience. This is why I work so hard to ensure I have access to making a difference in my future. I will use my opportunities wisely and take advantage of every helping hand, every bit of guidance, and all those who have mentored me through the years. I love leading and inspiring others to make things happen. In all my school activities I seek to be an inspiration and a guide for my teammates. I try not to miss an opportunity to share a good word and do a good work. I spent the summer interning in one of the hospitals in my city, and it truly encouraged me to know that I am entering the correct career path. Medicine and advocating for the proper medical services for the underprivileged is my passion. I seek to not only work in the field, but to make a difference in the field.
