Bio

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, my name is Elon P. Brunus. The majority of my maternal family originated from Jamaica, and immigrated to Canada. Presently, I am a young, aspiring male and soon-to-be graduating senior, with a grade point average of: 4.0, from the New Orleans Metropolitan area. Personally, I was born inherently blessed and highly favored with multiple talents. Consequently, these gifts have decorated some of my early distinctive personalities/hobbies, all of which continues to empower me to sing and perform at numerous civic/church and community events throughout the New Orleans region. Presently, at age 18, these achievements have both inspired and pushed me forward to fulfilling my dream of one day becoming a world renowned music artist. They have served well in boosting my confidence in singing, dancing, writing, and composing. As a result, I was able to compile an impressive portfolio consisting of my most prized accomplishment. Finally, by age 16, I was successful in composing, writing, producing and releasing my first “hit” album entitled: “Fourth Quarter”. Hence, I am highly motivated and excited about entering college in the Fall 2024 semester, in pursuit of my music career. Personally, I am energetic and compassionate, with a benevolent humanitarian nature. I strive to help the elderly and those less-fortunate. I also believe in giving back by assisting others, and would feel truly honored, if chosen the worthy recipient for this scholarship award.

      Eddie L. Smith Sr. Memorial Scholarship
      A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, my name is Elon P. Brunus. I am the younger of two sons born to parents Kurt, Sr. and Elaine Brunus. My father is a professional musician, and my mother is employed as a Senior Clinical Research Associate in the Pharmaceutical Industry. My older brother, Kurt, Jr. is an Artist who lives and works in Orlando, Florida. Recently, he became the proud father of my first and beautiful niece, Jade Eva Brunus—a welcomed addition to our family. The majority of my maternal family originated from Jamaica, and immigrated to Canada. My paternal family, including a grandmother, great-grandfather, one uncle, cousins, and great aunts are all natives of New Orleans. Presently, I am a young, aspiring male and soon-to-be graduating senior, with a grade point average of: 4.0, from St. Augustine High School, New Orleans. I have earned the title of Drum Major at St. Augustine High School. Today, I feel both privileged and humbled to reside with my parents in Slidell, LA. Personally, I was born inherently blessed and highly favored with multiple talents. My gift of music, however, had manifested almost instantly. As early as age one, I had already demonstrated a keen interest when I mastered and played my first music on my toy drum which, ultimately, led me into playing the piano and trumpet. Consequently, these gifts have decorated some of my early distinctive personalities/hobbies, all of which continues to empower me to sing and perform at numerous civic/church and community events throughout the US. Still enthusiastic in singing for the LORD, I sometimes accompany my dad in performing in music ministry at his church. Today, I still remain the youngest elected member of my church choir: (“The Men of Valor”), at New Life Baptist Church and member of St. Augustine High School Campus Ministry. Presently, at age 18, these achievements have both inspired and pushed me forward to fulfilling my dream of one day becoming a world renowned music artist.       Neil Margeson Sound Scholarship
      Music has played a significant role in my educational journey thus far. From a young age, I have demonstrated a natural gift for music, mastering his toy drum at the age of one and later learning to play the piano and trumpet. This early exposure to music has not only help myself develop my musical talents but has also had a profound impact on my personal growth and academic achievement. One of the most significant ways that music has influenced my education is serving as a source of inspiration and motivation. As a talented musician, I have been able to use my gifts to express himself creatively and to connect with others. Through singing and performing at various civic, church, and community events, I gained valuable experience and exposure, which has helped me build my confidence and self-esteem. Moreover, My involvement in music has also played a crucial role in my academic success. As a student at St. Augustine High School, I was able to earn a 4.0 grade point average, a feat that is impressive for any student. In addition to my academic achievements, I am also a Drum Major at my high school, a role that has helped me develop my leadership skills and teamwork. Furthermore, my passion for music has also inspired me to pursue my dreams of becoming a world-renowned music artist. At the age of 16, I have released my album, "Fourth Quarter," which showcases my talents as a singer, dancer, writer, and composer. This achievement has served as a significant milestone in my career, providing me with valuable experience and exposure in the music industry. As I looks towards the future, my goals are clear. My experiences in music have helped me develop my confidence, creativity, and leadership skills, which will be invaluable in my future endeavors.       Heather Rylie Memorial Scholarship
      From a young age, I have been drawn to the world of music. Born in Toronto in 2005 and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, I have had the privilege of growing up in a city that is steeped in musical history and culture. With a deep love for music, I have pursued my passion with unwavering dedication and commitment. As a proactive high school student, I have dedicated myself to becoming a world-renowned music producer. I have had the opportunity to hone my skills as a singer/songwriter, composer, and recording artist, and I have received national recognition for my work. I am a proud recipient of the Gold Medal Winner for Humanities Music NAACP Composition Category and Bronze Medal Winner for Music/Vocal Contemporary in the NAACP Performing Arts Category. My musical journey began at Marcella's Music Academy, where I became the youngest member of the esteemed "Men of Valor" Church Choir. My father, a jazz musician and producer, encouraged me to explore my musical interests and to develop my skills. His influence and guidance have been invaluable in my pursuit of a career in music. As a student at St. Augustine's High School, I have had the opportunity to showcase my musical talents as a member of the marching band, as a Drum Major, and as a recognized international speaker and performer. I have performed at the New Orleans Jazz Fest and the Re-Congress Event in Anaheim, California, and I have been a lead participant in the Lundi Gras Parade and Motown Review. I have also served as a representative of the History Club in the Close-Up/Washington, D.C. Meet. In addition to my musical pursuits, I am also a proactive and conscientious student, with a strong GPA of 4.0. I am a member of the History Club and a proven leader, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse personalities. I am a selfless individual, who is deeply committed to giving back to my community and making a positive impact on the world. I am also a member of the NAACP.
