Ministry is something my family taught me to do before I was capable of understanding what ministry is. My paternal grandparents landed in Camden, Arkansas by chance. They setting out to start their first church. They were leaving Ministry School in Texas and headed to Providence, Rhode Island to start a church. Their car broke down on the way in Camden, Arkansas. They broke down very close to East Camden Assembly of God Church, who was needing a pastor. Since their car was going to take some time to repair, my grandparents were offered an interim pastoral position. Eventually the interim position became a full time job. My grandparents grew the East Camden Assembly Church until they outgrew their building. They needed a new building, and while seeking God, my grandparents were standing on faith that God would provide. And God not only provided, but my grandparents were given land in the most ideal location - right across from the local Walmart and McDonalds. My father and aunt were in college at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma getting their own degrees that they would later use in the ministry. They would come home as often as possible to help build the new church that was right across the local Walmart. Eventually the church was finished and it has since served as host to some of the largest events in our town. As a small child, I remember my father taking me to church early with him to run sound and lights. My father has always been in charge of the media team at our church, and I'll never forget the first time he looked at me and asked if I wanted to try running sound. What started in church became something I did on tour across the United States as a summer job that I'll never forget. During COVID, when the world shut down and churches turned to drive in style services, I went early and helped my dad lead the set up and tear down. I was barely old enough to "lead" but my dad and grandparents need me. And I needed to get out of the house! I loved that the church turned COVID into a leadership opportunity for me. Whether it was media at a drive in service, singing on the praise and worship team, or leading the food distribution, it was the most character building experience I've ever had in ministry. I am thrilled to be following in my father's footsteps pursuing a degree at the same university he did all the while seeking to create an impact in ministry as an adult. My biggest goal in life is to leave a legacy that outlives me with my work in ministry.

ADHD has been a part of my life since birth. My grandparents, whom I affectionately call Mombo and Popbo, taught my father how to harness his own ADHD during his childhood. They had a lot of experience with it as my dad is very similar to Popbo. By harnessing ADHD without medication, my family became so productive that they became trailblazers in the small community we live in. By harnessing ADHD, they turned something that was meant for their bad to something that made them more productive, more creative and better all the way around: they used ADHD to their advantage. Popbo has always had an intense amount of energy, and the ADHD diagnosis was not widely known in the USA until 1994. As a kid growing up in rural Arkansas, my Popbo has told us that he learned to work hard by picking cotton in the cotton fields. He didn't enjoy it, but it taught him work ethic. My Popbo learned that if he could find a way to be efficient in the chaos that his energy was, he could easily outwork those around him. His older siblings went on to the construction field. As the youngest sibling in a large family, it was only natural for him to work with them. By harnessing ADHD, he easily pushed forward in his own life and pastored a church while working construction full time, all while fathering 6 children. When my dad was growing up in the 1980's, ADHD diagnosis were not common, but a teacher made all the difference in the world when she put him in the back of the room and had him stand while he did his work. This allowed his body to move, but his brain to focus. It was a breakthrough year for him academically. As an adult, he went into video production because in Popbo's church, there was no one that could do it professionally. As he came back with idea after idea, the community college in our town tasked him with creating a video degree program. That program still exists to this day, and is one of the more popular places in Arkansas to pursue this degree. While my dad built a program at a community college, he built his own company. That company did paid work for large televangelists at the time such as Benny Hinn, Tommy Tenney, Jesse Duplantis, and many more. My family has only mentioned the words ADHD when they are explaining why we have more energy than those around us. And they usually only give that explanation when asked "how in the world is he still going like the energizer bunny?" We have more drive, more push, and more desire to build than those around us because of the undiagnosed ADHD that has affected my Popbo, dad, and me. I've yet to find someone that can outwork us. I am excited to see how my undiagnosed ADHD will impact my life because I know the impact will be positive.

The Impact of Cancer on My Life Cancer, a word that evokes fear and sadness, also inspires resilience and hope. It has deeply impacted my life, teaching me about strength and vulnerability. My journey with cancer began with my great-grandfather, "Papaw," a brilliant musician who played piano by ear—a skill that seemed magical. A Melody of Memories Papaw's passion for music was contagious. He could hear a song once and then play it flawlessly on the piano. I fondly remember playing songs for him on my iPad; he would listen intently and then recreate the melody effortlessly. His musical prowess was akin to the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence in 2025, yet he achieved this through intuition and passion. One cherished memory is from a Christmas morning when I received my very own kiddie piano. Excited, I gathered every instrument I could find and brought them to Papaw's house. We orchestrated a family performance, with Papaw leading on the piano as we played "Where Are You Christmas." My family still reminisces about how Papaw played as if it were second nature to him. The Harsh Reality of Skin Cancer Despite his vibrant spirit, Papaw's life was altered by skin cancer. His diagnosis revealed that cancer could affect anyone, even someone as diligent as Papaw. Watching him endure chemotherapy and radiation was my first encounter with cancer's harsh reality. Although treatments aimed to provide comfort, they couldn't change the outcome. Papaw's passing left a void that music alone couldn't fill. It was my first experience losing a loved one to cancer, teaching me about life's fragility and the importance of cherishing every moment. A New Chapter with My Grandmother Years later, during my senior year of high school, cancer reappeared in my life. This time, it was my grandmother who received a skin cancer diagnosis on her toe. The news was devastating, but my grandmother's resilience shone through. She assured us that if amputation was necessary to be cancer-free, she would face it bravely. In December 2024, my grandmother had her toe amputated. Her recovery was a testament to her strength and determination. Today, she is cancer-free, and her courage serves as a beacon of hope for our family. Her experience reinforced the importance of vigilance and proactive care against skin cancer. A Legacy of Awareness Cancer's shadow looms large over my family. Our experiences have instilled in me the importance of regular check-ups and diligent skin care.
