Bio

I am a former classical ballerina. I now play golf and tennis. I enjoy visual arts, baking, going to church, and volunteering for my community. My goal for the future is to become a physician! I also babysit children ranging from the newborn age to up to 11 years old. I enjoy this profession as a babysitter because I have a soft spot for kids, and I hope that trait continues into my further aspirations of being a physician! I am currently in multiple clubs at my high school: Environmental Club, National Beta Club, National Honors Society, Best Buddies Club, and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Club. I am also president of National Beta Club at my high school. Additionally, I am the only person in my immediate and extended family that has attended public school. Because of this, I have grown up in a more diverse environment that I have developed a love for.

    Theresa Lord Future Leader Scholarship
Coming from an all-Catholic-school family, I was the first to enroll in a diverse, co-ed, free-of-charge public school in Kentucky. Because I was not simply handed a high-level, personalized education, such that an expensive, private school has, I had to pave my own path to success. Instead of knowing already that a successful education was ensured for my 6th, 7th, and 8th grade years in Catholic schooling, I spent my elementary years working endlessly in order to attend one of the best public middle schools in Louisville, Kentucky. Once again, while my younger sister was having the privilege to play nearly every Catholic school sport, I was at home, head in my textbook, studying tirelessly to achieve an all A’s track record. All of this in order to be accepted into one Kentucky public high school that is known across the country. After nights of memorization and struggle to be a “gifted and talented” student, I achieved my acceptance into my dream high school. I may not be the most athletic or sporty, or someone who grew up surrounded by all of their Catholic school buddies, but I am someone that has tenacity, determination, and the bravery to start my own public-school-educated legacy in my family. My education goal for the future is to continue this public schooling tradition all throughout my undergraduate and possible graduate years in a public college. This will prove my strength and reflect to my family members and friends that I succeeded in becoming successful from public schooling. With this scholarship, I will be able to continue to push through the educational financial obstacles that are yet to come in my future. I also will be able to continue to strive for top excellence in public schooling to prove how I can be successful, even though I am not in catholic schooling, if I put in enough work. Thus, this scholarship will instill an everlasting impact on not only my own family's educational legacy but also the legacy of public schools around the whole nation. Thank you for your consideration.

    Art of Giving Scholarship
Starting at only eight years old, I fell in love with a very under-appreciated art: classical ballet. It all started when an elderly, Russian grandmother in a ballet waiting room glanced at me dancing in a studio. Having seen hundreds of Russian ballerinas herself, she told me that I had the same spark, the same gift. From then on, after enrolling in the prestigious Louisville Ballet School, my life was filled with a world of beauty, strength, grace, and discipline. Yet, once in high school, I had to decide what I wanted to do with my life. I could fulfill my dreams of being a prima ballerina or strive in a healthcare career, another passion that filled my heart. The tough decision was made, and I had to give up my former dreams. However, I became gifted with a new talent—the talent of growing intellectually. I maintained my straight A’s. I excelled in my AP classes. I became one of the top students in my class. I fueled my inner courage to give up a passion to then fulfill my full academic potential. Even though I may not be a Russian ballerina, I have grown into an even more determined person. Therefore, because I had the courage to grow into a new, unfamiliar life, away from my old successful circumstances, I feel that I deserve the Art of Giving Scholarship. This scholarship will fully ensure I can grow into my new, successful future, striving to be a healthcare professional and will reassure myself of veering from my future ballerina career and instead focusing on being a physician. It also will give me support to fulfill my passionate goals of attending medical school by being the start of the extensive savings for my future in graduate school.
