Growing up in Colorado in a biracial family of African American and Puerto Rican heritage, I learned early the value of empathy and connection. My background drives me to seek new perspectives and fuels my commitment to serving diverse communities. This passion is at the core of my decision to pursue a nursing career. Being in healthcare requires discipline, focus, and heart. I've already worked to build the necessary discipline by taking difficult AP classes, maintaining a 4.0 weighted GPA, and taking on multiple leadership roles in various extracurricular clubs. All of these commitments will translate into traits I carry into the fast-paced medical environment. My desire to become a nurse comes from wanting to be a steady source of comfort and strength when people need it most. I want to bring compassion into every room I enter and make every patient feel seen. As a future nurse, I hope to give back to communities like the one that raised me. Diverse, resilient, and deserving of care that sees the whole person. Above all, I want my life to reflect these characteristics and to carry me forward.
