Bre Hoy Memorial Softball Scholarship
My name is Elizabeth Noble, and I attend Anderson University. I am majoring in Christian Studies with a concentration in Children & Youth Ministry.
When I first entered college, I was a softball player, specifically a pitcher, majoring in Sports Marketing at a small school in North Carolina. I quickly realized that it was not the right path for me. I was bullied, constantly stressed, and did not feel like myself. Which was not normal for me, softball had always been my escape from the difficulties of life; therefore, I wanted to find that again. Through a long and grueling semester, I decided to transfer schools. I did not want to transfer schools because I was not sure if I would be able to continue playing softball. Though it was a hard process, the Lord provided me a team to play on and, more importantly, led me in a call to ministry.
I transferred to a two-year college in order to save money, work a full-time job, and continue to play softball. While at this school, I found out that I had torn my labrum. I went through months of shots, MRIs, physical therapy, and doctor's appointments, which ultimately led me to surgery on my shoulder - this ended my softball career. Though it was very hard, I was grateful for this because it gave me more time to pursue ministry. It also showed me that my worth was not in a sport, but rather in who the creator of the universe says I am. After earning my Associate's, I transferred to Anderson University and was very nervous about doing so - I did not know anybody. I knew that it would be an expensive school to attend, but I believed this was the path that the Lord had put me on.
I loved playing softball. It's how I bonded with my dad, spent every single weekend for eight years, met some of my best friends, and it taught me so many incredible life lessons. I will always miss it, but I look forward to a time when I can have kids and show them the goodness of the sport.
Once I transferred, I entered an adjustment period to learn how to be a college student without a sport. Therefore, I tried a lot of different sports to keep myself in shape; ultimately, I landed on running. Being a pitcher, I always had a pinch runner, so being able to run for myself has been a blast. I started running last year and plan on completing my first marathon next semester.
Thank you so much for this opportunity.
Build and Bless Leadership Scholarship
My name is Elizabeth Noble. I attend Anderson University and am majoring in Christian Studies with a concentration in Children & Youth Ministry. Faith does not just influence my leadership style, it impacts every element of my life.
Growing up, from the outside, my family seemed picture perfect but there were issues within the home. My mom has trauma from when she was a child that were poured onto me and my siblings. Due to this, I formed a lot of anxiety within me. I found abundant freedom and peace in Jesus, knowing that He loves me and would never leave me.
I came to know Jesus when I was eight years old at a summer camp. I was raised in an Advent Christian home and my Poppie was the pastor at our church. I wanted to be baptized in the Jordan River. But being eight years old and in North Carolina did not help my case. Poppie baptized me in a lake and we stuck up a sign that said "Jordan River." Though my little brother slept through the whole thing, it is a day that I will never forget.
I currently demonstrate faith in leadership at my job and my internship. In the summers, I work as a Volunteer Director for WinShape Camps. I am blessed with the opportunity to travel to local churches all over the country. I have been able to learn about the global church not just in many states but in Costa Rica as well.
Last summer, the Lord taught me about seeking peace. The verse on my heart that summer was Psalm 34:14, "Turn away from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it." That the ins and outs of the camp day can be crazy, we are working with kids! But the Prince of peace is steady, constant, and near. In leadership, this looks like pursuing peace over conflict, and when conflict arises - we must first pursue Jesus.
This summer, the Lord taught me how to fully work for His glory in leadership. The verse on my heart for this was 1 Corinthians 10:31, "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." A part of my job as a Volunteer Director is to provide lunches for the staff and volunteers, this can be anywhere from 50-200 people. I learned that when I am planning meals and providing them, I am not just feeding people but I am glorifying my Father who is in Heaven. Yes, I am serving people sandwiches, but ultimately I am serving the Lord!
I am a Youth Intern at a local church in South Carolina, I absolutely love my internship. Through being involved in youth and children's ministry, the Lord has taught me to lead by listening. I have learned so much from the students. One of the most valuable things about working in children's ministry is child-like faith. We are teaching children but we are also learning how to have the unmovable faith that they have in Jesus.
A part of being a Christian is fully surrounding each day to the Lord's will and trusting that He will continue to lead and sanctify us as we follow Him. I am excited to see what else the Lord teaches me as I follow His perfect Lead.
Thank you for this opportunity!

I work for a traveling summer camp called "WinShape Camps." As a Volunteer Director, I am blessed with the opportunity to visit a different local church in various states for nine weeks and pour into the community. I do not get a say in where my route is. The summer before transferring, the Lord put me on the North Carolina and South Carolina route. I just so happened to be visiting a church in Anderson, South Carolina. Through this connection, I bonded with the church staff and ended up being hired as a Youth Ministry Intern. So many friendships came through this blessing.
The Lord has blessed me abundantly during my college journey. It has not been an easy journey, but the Lord has perfectly provided time and time again. This scholarship would take a financial burden off of me and my Dad. I have a sister who is in college and a brother who will be soon. My Dad is helping them pay tuition as well, which is not easy. Help in this would also be appreciated because I would like to attend seminary after earning my bachelor's. I am willing to work towards these goals because I believe that ministry is my calling. I love being able to share the Gospel with children and youth. There is nothing like seeing the Gospel "click" for a child and seeing the light of Christ within them. I am very grateful to be at my school, but it can be very difficult to afford without help.
Thank you so much for this opportunity!
