I come from two amazing immigrant parents from Kenya and Tanzania that did everything to make sure that I was taken care of. I grew up watching my parents work themselves to the bones to create a better quality of life for me their only child. While I was growing up they made it imperative for me to visit Africa so my travels can make me aware that there are people out there living in a different reality than me reminding me to live my life in gratitude and to always have a helping spirit.
My life goals are very vast but I wanna live a life that gives back to people in many ways. I am most passionate about my Non-profit Organization which gives school supplies and backpacks to kids in low socioeconomic areas. I'm in school to be a nurse and an entrepreneur. I want to give kids a chance in having an education and a healthier lifestyle. In winning scholarships I want to not only pay some of my college debt but use the money to expand my nonprofit so I can help more children in need.

Bold Financial Literacy Scholarship
Delayed gratification is a skill I've mastered and I think everyone should practice it. Delayed gratification is simply the act of postponing instant enjoyment in exchange for a later benefit. When it comes to investing, it's fighting the urge to make a profit when a stock rises a few percent so that you can benefit much more later. It can also be fighting the urge to eat out or buy that cute outfit that you think you need because you know that the money can be put in stock or your savings account. Instant pleasure is a human addiction and I fall victim to it every once in a while. We've been conditioned to see it and desire it in every aspect of life, and economics is no exception. Using financial tools like budgeting and automated savings contributions has helped me alter that and I know others can benefit from it. Financial Literacy is so important to me, the more you know the fewer mistakes you make. Especially in trying to come out of college debt free.
