A Dog Changed My Life Scholarship
Millie, my dog has not only changed my life, but she has saved it as well. All my life I had struggled with who I am. I never quite knew who I was, and I felt as if my personality had always been changing. Once I got to college I thought I would finally figure out who I was. However, I went into a depressive state for a few months. After seeing a psychiatrist, I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1, Anxiety, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
It was extremely hard to get motivated and I would drive home almost every week to see my dogs at home. I decided to look into getting an emotional support animal. While I was on campus my sister called and told me they found a dog for me. I got to meet her over Spring Break, and I instantly fell in love. I started training her and taking care of her, and that made me have to take of myself as well. I have so much motivation to get up and do my work or go on a walk. She really has saved me.
