Bio

My dream has always been to earn a strong education, pursue a four‑year degree in Marketing, and compete at the Division I college basketball level. These goals have shaped my life, and they are the reason I work hard every day both in the classroom and on the court. Coming from a single‑parent household, I have witnessed firsthand the sacrifices my mother has made to support my dreams. She has worked tirelessly to cover AAU fees, training costs, and school expenses, and she played a major role in helping me get accepted into an excellent private boarding school. Her dedication is the foundation of my success, and I am determined to honor her sacrifices by continuing to push myself academically and athletically. In 2024, I faced one of the biggest challenges of my life when I suffered a blood clot in my lung. It was a frightening and unexpected setback, but I survived, recovered, and refused to let it stop me. Instead, it strengthened my determination. I returned to school and to basketball with even more focus, proving to myself that I can overcome adversity and continue to thrive. Receiving this grant would directly help offset the cost of college tuition, easing the financial burden on both me and my mother. It would allow me to continue pursuing my education, compete at the highest level, and move closer to my long‑term goals in business and athletics. I am committed, resilient, and ready to make the most of every opportunity.

My dream has always been to earn a strong education, pursue a four‑year degree in Marketing, and compete at the Division I college basketball level. These goals have shaped my identity, my work ethic, and the way I approach every challenge in my life. Basketball has taught me discipline, leadership, and resilience, while my academic interests have shown me the power of communication, branding, and creativity. Together, they form the foundation of the future I am determined to build. Growing up in a single‑parent household, I have witnessed the true meaning of sacrifice. My mother has worked tirelessly to support my dreams, often putting her own needs aside so that I could have opportunities she never had. She has covered AAU fees, training sessions, travel costs, and school expenses, all while managing the responsibilities of our home on her own. Her dedication is the reason I was able to attend a great private boarding school—an opportunity that changed the trajectory of my academic and athletic journey. Every achievement I earn is a reflection of her strength, and I am committed to honoring her sacrifices by pushing myself to reach my highest potential. In 2024, my life took an unexpected turn when I suffered a blood clot in my lung. It was one of the most frightening experiences I have ever faced. Suddenly, everything I had worked for—my health, my athletic future, my sense of stability—felt uncertain. But instead of letting fear define me, I chose to fight. Recovery was not easy, but it taught me something invaluable: I am stronger than any obstacle placed in my path. When I returned to school and stepped back onto the court, I did so with a deeper appreciation for life, for opportunity, and for the privilege of being able to continue pursuing my dreams. This experience reshaped my mindset. It reminded me that success is not just about talent or ambition—it is about perseverance, gratitude, and the willingness to rise after every setback. I now approach both my academics and athletics with a renewed sense of purpose. I am more focused, more determined, and more committed than ever to achieving my goals. Receiving this grant would directly help offset the cost of college tuition, easing the financial burden on my mother and allowing me to continue my education without placing additional strain on our household. It would support my journey toward earning a Marketing degree, competing at the Division I level, and ultimately building a career that allows me to give back to my family and my community. I am proud of how far I have come, and I am excited for the future ahead. With hard work, resilience, and the support of opportunities like this scholarship, I know I can continue to thrive—both in the classroom and on the court.

Hello My name is Elijah Ford .I am a 16 year old male Sophomore who has recently been accepted to attend a prep school in Bath ,Maine called the Hyde School. My goals are to fulfill my dreams of getting a good education and attending a Division one college to pursue basketball .My mother has taught me that although my dream is to make it to the NBA .I need a solid education to fall back on. I do love math and I am currently in an accelerated advance math class at my school .Which I have taken since 7th grade. My dream is to be a NBA player.I know I still need to attend college as well.My mother has cried in silent many times she thinks I don’t know but I have hear her in secrecy she has always put me firsts and still does til this very day.We are very close although being teenager has caused little hiccups for the both of us we manage to talk it out .My mother has always taught me to stand up for myself and be true to who I am.To always be a leader and not a follower. The sacrifices that my mother has made in a single parent household which includes my mother and myself have been countless .She has worked tiresomely 2 jobs and has taken a less desirable job just to make sure she could be able to pick me up from school or attend a basketball game. She has paid and provided AAU payments, training, while keeping hot meals on the table and attending ALL my basketball games and school activities .Most importantly still giving me unconditional love and support.Along with helping me get into and accepted into a great private boarding school. The grant money would go directly to off set the tuition costs for myself and my mother for me to attend the school. The money would not go in vain and would really help me and my mom.She is truly an MVP (Most valuable Mom).My mother can be very prideful and doesn’t like to asks for help but she has taught me sometimes you have to humble yourself and asks. She always says the strong surviver and it doesn’t matter how many times you fall but how May times you get up.If we are provided the opportunity to receive the grant money it would be greatly needed and appreciated . Sincerely, Elijah J.Ford
