Throughout my life, I have heard that there is a steady decline in people who are willing to take jobs in the medical field, but most dangerously the doctors who are meant to provide a future for the disabled; it is horrifying to imagine that people such as my sister Scarlett—diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth—may lose crucial support in their lives. Therefore, I have two goals that may take a step towards a brighter future. First, I wish to become a neurosurgeon and figure out the problem of disability in a humane, Catholic-complicit manner. At the same time, I also want to show the world the humanity in the disabled that is startlingly being ignored by most. This mission will be successful through creation of charities, awareness campaigns, and donations to Catholic charities that support people with disabilities.
