America is a place where more opportunities are provided for people to better themselves and better their families. To be able to accomplish the American dream is one of thee most toughest and greatest decisions one can make. My father is an immigrant. He came to this country to help further his future in hopes of being able to provide for his family. My mother is an American born citizen who worked her hardest my entire life to provide for me and my siblings. Growing up and watching my parents struggling for what we needed was hard. Learning about the things they went through at my age showed me what a privilege I have. The privilege to be able to go to school and get an education. To have opportunities handed to me that they didn’t have. I am passionate about everything. About who I am and where my family comes from. Being a first generation, Mexican-American, who has the ability to go to school and hopefully be a lawyer is something that I am passionate and grateful for. I wish to be a lawyer and help those who seek justice for themselves. I want to go into the field of law because for centuries people from all over the world have been wronged. I don’t just want to be a lawyer but an immigration lawyer. I want to be able to help those from all around the world who seek the justice no one else will help them with. Being Mexican America comes with a lot of challenges. From stereotypes to racism. Having to prove everyday that you are not a stereotype that you are a person, is hard. But because of that I’ve seen a lot and want to help anyone who is facing the same troubles. Coming from a family who didn’t go to collage or dropped out, makes me want to strive for what they couldn’t because life stopped them. I have the opportunity to go to collage and better myself for my family, my people, and my community. That is what I am passionate about. It is what will keep me striving for greatness. To make my family and people proud for what I’ve accomplished. I am a proud Mexican-American, who has been working hard to accomplish as much as I can. I am a high school graduate who starts collage in August. I’m exited to see what the future hold for me.
